Wow.
I really thought the push to reduce the site's traffic was over after the big population drop last year, but I guess the goal to drive the members away is still ongoing.
Well, it's sure to succeed, and continue succeeding, of that I have little doubt. When the goal is to create tension with your customers/player base and drive them away, there's not much that will stand in the way of success, and getting rid of popular features over and over again is definitely the fastest way to do it.
Anyway, not much point in reading through this or participating in the discussion. Obviously no one is going to listen to us, or cares about how we feel.
But I'm going to vent, anyway (since that is the only reason this thread exists.)
This is a terrible way to treat your customers. This really shows such an utter lack of respect for the members of BSN. These boards are ignored when announcements are made or the customers try to use them to communicate about the game, so removing one of the few remaining benefits the board provides? It smells purely petty, since it offers no rational improvements.
It also demonstrates a disturbing lack of gratitude for the thousands upon thousands of volunteer hours people have spent testing and posting about those tests to improve the value of BioWare games for everyone.
The worst and most insulting part?
we feel it's important to foster conversations within our community that can't be found outside these boards
So to do that, you remove the features that draw people to these boards? The features that are offering a unique opportunity to form community between the company and customers are the last thing one would rationally remove for the stated reason. It is as dishonest a reason as could have been given.
It's bad enough to treat your customers this way, but to do it with such an obvious level of disdain and dishonesty is shocking, given the reputation that BioWare used to have.
But whatever. I'm long past the point of being surprised by BioWare shooting itself in the foot or treating its customers badly. It is what I've come to expect over the last couple of years. And all evidence is that the trend will continue in that direction and get worse. It's a real shame, because the boards have always offered BioWare great opportunities that are being squandered. And again, like the previous decisions of this nature, it will cause irreparable harm. It will drive away the friendlier posters while doing nothing to discourage those who only come to the forums to troll or rage at BioWare.

Every time I think you can't disappoint me any more, BioWare, you manage to show me that you can still treat people even worse.

Guess we'll have to make that persona group on steam more active now, Chewin a member of it?
I suggest migrating to Obsidian's forums, especially in regards to anime, since they have a thread on that too. Or... create a group solely dedicated to it.
As for Persona, yeah, we're gonna have to be more active in that one or create our own so as to keeping it to ourselves.

I really don't understand this decisions. I actually do not believe it all due respect. Most of these changes look like they were created to reduce traffic because frankly the forums are not generating any income.
-The features on the old site taken out
-The limitations on the current featrures.
From my perspective it looks like you want to reduce the bandwith used and since off topic generates a considerable amount of data on this website you want to can it. This is what it looks like to me.
I am disappointed.
It's KingTony, hit me on Steam or PSN dude.

I thought having an offtopic section was something every forum should have?
*Sigh* Bioware.

Welp, guess it's time to add a few old BSNers to Steam and leave then. Sh1t.

I never used Off-Topic so it's not a real loss for me. The rest of these changes are okay in my book, especially Combat/Strategy.

A friendly reminder to everyone that emotional kneejerk reactions (regardles of how much I empathize right now) aren't the best way to try and persuade the BioWare folks from thinking over some decisions. Oh, and I'm not directing this at people who are disappointed, just at people who are the particular kind of vocal in the heat of it right now.
I'm sure BioWare is letting the change blow over for now and once things are settled, maybe, just maybe there can be a discourse on whether all the changes were required and/or are beneficial for the community, or not.

We never had a chance to become the #1 viewed thread in OT either.
No more pouf gifs either.
How else am I supposed to tell you I'm hurt?!

Well, since the OT section was what me kept me on this site between the games I don't care about my account anymore, I might as well spam the gaming sections to death.

I'll probably get a few laughs for asking this, but can we get some official word on why you're closing off-topic?
Do you want the only discussions on here to be about why the ME3 ending sucks and whatever DA people talk about? I don't think that'll help you the way you think it will.

Well, its an emotional reaction to an emotional decision because in no way is taking away the OT Section beneficial to anyone, it will hurt Bioware and they'll gain nothing from it.

Closing it, and consolidating topics, will make moderation simpler. Dunno if that's the reason, but it's possible.

Even if you never went there, you will end up suffering indirectly from this as other sections inevitably get cluttered with posts and threads that would've otherwise gone there.

It does appear to me that way too and I have little doubts that any positives from removing the offtopic section is dramatically offset by its prominently negative impression on the community.
But lighting torches and sharpening pitchforks isn't working in our favour to dissuade that notion, quite the contrary.

*Sigh* Bioware.
A normal forum has it, yes. But Bioware doesn't want to be normal. They want to be the special snowflake that has no off-topic forum.

What the hell! This is ridiculous, I would have been more understanding had you given us all the time to co-ordinate a move. You just destroyed a bunch of friendships at once and have ensured that I want be visiting your forums anymore, way to go.

They barely moderated it in the freaking first place. Cassandra threads would stay up for days even weeks.
