Biower pls.
Now every time I see you I get RWBY flashbacks and its just pain.

Well... would you look at this. My first warning point and deleted post in 6 years. Not even for active cursing but for using another word for flame war. "Uncensored profanity" for teh lulz.
Contest it. Contact Conal Pierse. Your good behavior should've had it be a warning in a post, not a warning point. That was a mistake by the biomod.
Great post, and a better solution than closing off topic imo.I completely agree.
That's why I think there are specific things that Bioware's community managers- or whoever is in charge of this place ultimately- could do to foster goodwill. It's both of our faults, really. Not "us" specifically, but there are some people who just can't let well enough alone and make the forums miserable- threatening devs, being generally disruptive and trollish for the sake of being trollish.
But it's really all about the moderators.
The anonymous moderator system is broken and does not work. It doesn't foster an open line of communication, first of all- and doesn't allow for the moderators themselves to have any accountability. Delete, delete, delete, ignore, delete. What they need is moderators who swiftly ban people who make any sort of threats at all. Named moderators we grow to get to know. Moderators who are active, responsive, and encourage conversation while striking down those who do not foster appropriate conversations.
There should also be a handful of volunteer mods- mods without banning capabilities so they don't go around with a power-hungry personal vendetta- , but mods from the posters themselves that can be trusted with the responsibilities such as moving threads, adding spoiler tags where needed...duties that keep the actual mods from having to do "forum cleanup" daily.
Each sub-forum should have at least one mod, possibly more, depending on how busy the forum is. And that way each person isn't running all over the place trying to keep an eye on the whole place. Don't string them too thin, but instead give them specific areas that they are responsible for.
I have lots more ideas but I'm wasting my breath I think lol.
Bio-where pls.

I don't understand if Bioware realizes the problems are on them. The fact that we have to say, "whoever's in charge" instead of the name of a community manager says it all, doesn't it?
I miss the 07-12 days.
But....who will I talk to about Tales from the Borderlands?
I....
I....
No one apparently. Because how dare the Bioware community talk about other things they share in common like a proper community would.
You think putting all of the blame on the community is the solution? Both sides have their faults here and since it's BioWare's forum, the power to change lies with them. We certainly can't change anything, it's not like we're in control of every single poster here.
And with this post, I ran out of "likes."
That hasn't happened in a while.
And truth be told the disconnect from them does fall on both Bioware and the community
The principally responsible party is the one in charge. If the people in charge won't take responsibility for the condition of the forums, the community is helpless to do anything about it.
Attempting to make anonymous internet masses responsible for the state of moderation is an exercise in cyclical futility.

I'm pretty sure Conal is the new community manager , no?
At least I remember talk about him getting Jessica Merizan's job when she left or something?

This IS a futile effort on their part. Fact.

If so, this was never made obvious to me. And I'm here literally every day. Far as I know he's the messenger.
And if I miss it, how can you expect anyone else to catch on? There were people here yesterday that still thought Jessica Merizan was with Bioware and in charge when she's been gone FOREVER at this point.

Spear Hoes, you better get to the new site and post some music or something.

I'm not even sure if they care enough to follow this.
I want to know what Bioware has learned from this immediate response. I want them to tell me. And no, not some line like, "Some people may be disappointed". I don't want my intelligence insulted. I want bullet points of each thing they've learned over the last 24 hours.
Be open with us as we are with you instead of hiding under the safety of shadow.
What I find most baffling is that not only does closing off-topic kinda alienate forum goers, but it's at odds with simple human nature. People have an innate tendency to deviate or meander from the subject from time to time, it's just something that happens when a conversation goes on long enough.
I mean, we've already seen a few threads closed for going off-topic for a couple pages... so surely preventing us from being able to have somewhere we can actually discuss something else will only lead to an increase in thread derailment in the main forums?
Besides, who among us hasn't hung out or cooled down in the off-topic section to escape some toxic threads before? It's a little chaotic in the off-topic section from time to time, but I think it actually helps keep the peace elsewhere.
Does Bioware really not think that people who share an interest in their games might enjoy sharing opinions and perspectives about other games or arts & entertainment in general? One thing I liked about Off-Topic was that when talking about non-Bioware stories, it was easy to use Bioware games as a reference point, e.g. is Geralt more or less malleable as a character than Shepard or the Inquisitor, or how much of the new X-Files miniseries should be devoted to "sidequests" in the form of monster-of-the-week episodes.
Still out of likes, so quoting these.
But really, I should stop reading. This is basically a funeral. At some point, saying goodbye and moving on is the sensible thing to do.

The moderators are useless. Contacting Conal doesn't do anything. This only further cements that the system is more than broken. They are nameless, faceless bots that roam around picking and choosing who to ignore and who not to. The rules of this forum aren't clear enough and that's without the wishy-washy enforcement of them.
Right now I'm concerned about groups. Will Bioware close them with very little notice?
Humans are naturally a social race that interacts with others of its kind and shares similar emotions and feelings when in the presence of another that emanates that emotion or sensation. Trying to keep us in one place talking about one thing and only that one thing is asinine.

I was given a warning point yesterday by one of the biomod accounts, contested it with Mr. Pierse, and he promptly removed it. If Tobi's good behavior is as he says it is, there's no reason the same wouldn't be done for him.
Well that sucks. That probably mean my six years activity on these forum are over. Youll be missed ![]()
Thats another thing though, the rules round here should be more set in stone and obvious instead of up to interpretation.

I don't remember where it was posted and I can't find it now, but they had said yesterday that groups were being considered to "undergo changes". So, probably. I mean, they closed a whole section of forum with 12 minutes notice, I see no reason why they would handle groups any better.
They clearly want those of us that aren't talking about or buying their games gone. You need to own the game and have it registered to your account in order to talk on the other forums, but the Lobby, you didn't need to own any of their games to talk on. That is not a coincidence.

If I had your post count I might've already left. Might've.

Pick and choose, pick and choose.
