There is a tale.
A team of doctors had to cure a little kid, who had issues with his leg not feeling well and walking properly.
The doctors never cared too much about that kid, because he wasn't paying the cure in the end, occasionally they did some placebo on him to let him believe they were doing their job.
The kid went worse and worse: instead of intervening to cure the leg once and for all, the doctors decided for amputation.
Now, because doctors didn't have the will to cure a non-paying patient, although this was free of charge, that kid is walking without a leg.
But didn't the doctors already leave after they mucked up that other patient, you know, the one with the registration number DA2-ME3? I think one of them is drinking beer for a living now.
So this amputation was performed by the nurse, I fear.
"A bit of Ascii?" Cool.
Let us look at the source code of such a page. It current has
119917 characters. Each character is worth 1 byte.
If we assume that on average we get 1 page reload per hour mintues,
1 character = 1 byte
24 x 119917 = 2878008/hr
Assume the person is on it everyday.
2878008 x 30 = 86 Megabytes per month
If each user is worth such a number, compare that to 100s and thousands of user using the forums. Of course off topic is not generating most of this data but if I had to put a cost benefit analysis down, off topic wouldn't be worth ****. Notice that the forum is self sustaining and is not generating any income through ads. They are practically paying to run it
You can search for any mathematical expression, using functions such as: sin, cos, sqrt, etc. You can find a complete list of functio
Yea, ok, let's assume I really load 86MB of off topic forum per month, which may be realistic. I also downloaded ME3 and DA:I from EA's servers. That is the equivalent of me browsing off topic for about 30 years. And I re-installed ME3 about 10 times by now.
As for OT being worthless, there are plenty of reasons why it isn't, most of which have been mentioned in this thread multiple times. It's ridiculous to close it down because of bandwidth.
