Thing is Twitter and facebook are key.

Nothing really gets out of here unless there's a major cataclysm.

If you'd get a good letter about the decline of the moderation on the forum through the years , and then have a number of people sending that to higher ups in places where people outside of here could see...it could get attention.(Twitter/facebook)

Maybe.

We're at a low as far as forum activity goes.

It would be hard to organize in here.I'd rather not get banned.

And we might get dismissed as an untitled bunch.

But anyway might worth a try.

You actually might have more luck with Reddit, honestly.

The PC problems being posted on the forums here were largely ignored (or, at least, unacknowledged) until people on the DA sub-Reddit started posting about it, nearly instantly generating a response, both there and here.

After all, Reddit isn't like Facebook or Twitter, that has a feed that is quickly drowned out. Posts there are more permanent, just like they are here in the forum. Thing is... Bioware cares how Redditers view unflattering posts. They could care less if we proved they were holding onto the cure for cancer on here, though.

I'm not going anywhere. I'm fighting this fight no matter how futile it is.

This is what I'm saying though. This thread isn't going anywhere. I doubt anyone's even looking at it unless someone gets report for profanity. I'm not terribly invested in the Off Topic forum but I think locking it is a product of lazy moderation and I think there's enough wrong with how these forums are moderated that we can, at the very least, address those things.

Yeah reddit is also a good idea.

Edit ; It would be a fragile and complicated dance , I mean Bioware are expected to provide a certain quality...even if this forum is a bonus , it's still a service they provide for their customers.

Like I said it's about complaining without being dismissed as entitled.

Not impossible , but complicated to pull off.

Even if there's the slightest chance that ANYONE at Bioware gives a damn about how we feel, I'm not letting this go. I'll carry the load for everyone who's not here doing it themselves.

*This is addressed to Bioware in general, not one specific person:*

We are continuing to look at other changes to the forums (such as changes to groups) and ways we can improve the community as a whole, but nothing has been set as of yet. We want to see how these initial changes go first, and will decide what to do next from there.

You've already seen the initial changes! It was a colossal failure. The initial changes have consisted of almost 100% of posters being at best, confused, and at worst, leaving the forums. A lot of people with thousands of posts - longtime members of the community - have given up on your website and what it can offer. Those are the initial changes, and I don't think you need any more time to see how this goes. It already went, and so did many fans. I fail to see how making people leave creates a better community in the long or short term.

Of course, it would have gone over a lot better had you simply given people warning. That would be the courteous thing to do. What would have been even better is if you had consulted us, perhaps created this thread a week ago so we could give you our feedback about your proposed changes to see if this is really something that would be helpful. I am simply vexed that you would not warn or consult people before such a drastic decision, all supposedly for us!

If you want to decide what will be best for the community, don't you think discussing that with us would make sense? The way you're doing it, combined with giving us no warning, basically translates to:

"We're doing something immediately harmful, but it's for your own good you know. We know what's good for you." <_<

I'd also like to say that the timing is atrocious. It could only have been worse after the next DA:I DLC. When that's out and people are done discussing it (which won't take very long), you are going to have a very empty forum... Very empty indeed. It's clear that Bioware does not understand the value of an off-topic section as other forums do. They are there to keep people here until your next product releases and to create a community bond. With DA:I content coming to a close, and knowing next to nothing about ME:A, how many people do you think will stay? This place will crumble without the community. I'm glad you renamed the site, because it is less "social" here every day. The off-topic section may rarely relate to your games, but it's populated by people were brought together by your games. They share interests, and you shattered that community into, well, a few thousand pieces.

Finally, would you care to elaborate on exactly why you think this will lead to a better community? You claim to think it will, but we have submitted our reasons why it hasn't and won't, while you give no counter-argument. This is very frustrating. It seems the least you could do. No more making changes "for us" without consulting us or explaining why it's supposed to help. We deserve better, and if you truly cared about the community, you would know that.

So, with all that in mind, I implore you to see reason. You claim to want the best for the community, and the community has spoken - loudly and clearly. Please reconsider this decision, and don't let pride stop you from admitting your mistake and doing what's right. Don't dig your heels in and make the situation worse for everyone. I've seen it happen way too many times. It never does anyone any good.

- Sincerely, someone who never even visited the off-topic forum, but can't stand stupid decisions.

Off Topic regulars, sure. I don't think Bioware cares about us. They care about the people they see in the ME and DA sections that talk about the same things over and over again without breaks.

And now there will be more of that from people that refuse to leave or less people around because they don't have an Off Topic section to keep them here.

Outside of "we think it will strengthen the community in the long term", no.

Allan was great. I went to him often even though I shouldn't have because I trusted him and liked him. Im sorry if I was ever part of the problem for him. He was very kind while he was here.

I'm not going anywhere. I'm fighting this fight no matter how futile it is. I didn't make all these friends here and have wonderful conversations over years and years to see it thrown away on a whim with barely a warning because it somehow "strengthens" this community. Yeah right.

Just keep in mind that a lot of people migrated to the new forum, so you can reconnect with hopefully all your friends over there even if this isn't going anywhere.

My point was simply that it was a blow to the community. Many people with thousands of posts who have been here for years. Even if some almost only visited off-topic, it's still a big blow, especially considering many would return when new content came out. Oh, I know they don't care. They don't care about having long-term or loyal fans. Not with this attitude.

Outside of "we think it will strengthen the community in the long term", no.

Which in itself needs a reason. Why do they think it will strengthen the community? It weakened it immediately, and I fail to see it helping later. It's all been said 1000 times.

If I accept this, it sets a precedent that Bioware can get away with this kind of stuff down the line. Sudden changes with no warning, communities crushed for reasons not known to us, decisions made with no regard for public opinion.

Screw that. Like I said before, I want Bioware to make this place better. I've wanted that for years. I'm tired of this slow burn out, especially with this very rapid one that killed all conversations I had here barring the ones in this thread.

I'm glad y'all are still around. Because the places everyone else went don't have the same security or safety that this place SHOULD have, and WON'T have until Bioware steps up their game.

And stepping up their game doesn't equate to sending huge amounts of people away. That isn't right. That will never be right. And even if I'm preaching to the choir or no one will listen to me, I refuse to shut up about it or give in and go away.

I've spoken to too many people across the world for the better part of a decade to just up and leave.

For all we know they think the people in Off Topic contributed nothing and didn't serve a purpose being around.

If that was true, then the people in charge need some education about forums, communities and internet culture.

I respect what you are doing, but this is going to be futile. They just put this thread here to keep us from storming the DA and ME forums. They gave us a place that we could focus our anger on and that they could ignore us at. Your friends are elsewhere and you have the option to join more then a few of them and 120 members that occupied the Lobby, I feel like you are just wasting time here and are going to be ignored by Bioware in the end. There have been more than a couple of people that have stated that they aren't coming back even if the Lobby is reopened and even more stating that they are now boycotting the new ME because of Bioware's blatant disregard for them.

*snip*

I get your motivation and whilst I'd personally think your setting yourself up for the impossible, I applaud your passion. This is what having a community is about. People coming together to share their passion.

I'm just want you to keep in mind that the connections you lost in here may still be salvagable over there. That however won't work if you don't go there too and it would be a shame if you really disconnected with people you could keep meeting up with if you just stay here to make your stand.

That's all I'm saying.

Just posting in this thread is not going to help make the forums better. That's why I'm hoping that many of us can come up with something, like an open letter, and share it everywhere Bioware's looking, because they're not looking here. Let's get them to look in their backyard again.

Well, the first thing you need to do is leave this thread and take to their twitter, reddit, facebook, tumblr or whatever, because they aren't going to read our PMs and they aren't going to stop by this thread to do anything other than moderate users. This thread is literally just a shouting space for those upset in which they will ignore.

They just put this thread here to keep us from storming the DA and ME forums. They gave us a place that we could focus our anger on and that they could ignore us at.

Isn't that internally inconsistent with their actions though? I mean, they just got rid of a single place where people could cool down and dump all of their off-topic ideas. If they want to just ignore this place to make the rest of the forum "cleaner" or whatever, why remove off-topic in the first place? It helped keep the community cleaner too. If this thread isn't harming them, neither was off-topic.
