I have to say: The devs responding and posting news everywhere but here doesn't do anything to convince me you're wrong. Wow, this is more depressing than I thought. Not to mention insulting, as it always was.
The reason for that that we've been given is that they can reach more people through those social media sites than they can thru here.
I haven't really posted in any of the forums here since off-topic has been closed....... honestly I just don't see myself posting much or even coming at all.
I enjoy Dragon Age but I'm not such a huge fan to be discussing theory or ideas for future DLC so not much point to visit those forums.
ME:A is still a ways off and most of the post are all about hypotheticals or people requesting/demanding changes be made to a game we know nothing about, so not much point in posting there.
and I'm not bothering with ME3 or earlier boards because there is always that one person that has to try to derail the threads with there ending hyperbole which I am sick of reading.
So no real reason to come here now so it does feel like Bioware just wants to get rid of people.

Sadly, that is correct. From what I'm seeing, this forum is more work for BioWare than any other social media channel. Ignoring BSN and letting it degrade into a hive of scum and villany so they can get rid of it without negative press sounds like win/win for them.

Don't burn any bridges behind you, it serves no purpose and you won't make a statement. On the contrary, it will prove to BioWare that their decision was correct and will make it even harder to get some positive changes around here.
If you want to go out with a bang, then think of something that doesn't violate the forum rules. Don't throw away your accounts, you'll never know when you might need them again. Getting perma-banned helps no one.

These are things to put in an open letter! The forum is relevant and can still be relevant. I don't want to hang out on Reddit all the time. I've had the most intelligent discussions about life, history, and the universe on these forums. (All talking within the realm of games, but still.) This is the most cohesive place for Bioware to share their vision. We just need to help them see that.

Well I'm not going anywhere until I'm 100% convinced that this is a lost cause and Bioware doesn't want me here. Most of the folks you enjoyed talking to over the years have already dipped out.

Thats just silly. Why would anyone act that way on purpose? Bunch of children if they do and we would be grateful to rid ourselves of them.
But if people have the intention of doing that, it justifies what Bioware's done. Its completely counterintuitive. Its why I haven't left, its why I'm trying to figure this out, its why I'm trying to wrap my head around this and find ways to convince them to bring it back, hoping to hell they ARE reading this thread, even if most of you think they won't.
Yeah, that's not a good idea. If the reason Bioware shut it down is because they viewed OT in a negative light, that will only confirm it.
Because they feel as though Bioware gave them the middle finger (they really did, they gave everyone in the OT the middle finger). You can call it counter-intuitive, but Bioware has shown no intention of bringing back the OT. People spent years here, years building friendships and Bioware threw all of that away in 12 minutes, a lot of people weren't even awake for the 12 minute "warning" because timezones. Those that woke up later most certainly found that most of their friends were gone and it was Bioware's fault. If one awakens to find their friends gone and knows who to blame then they are probably going to give the best equivalent to a middle finger that they can give.
People in the OT aren't abandoning the forums, the forums abandoned them by being deleted... by Bioware. Akkining them to children is a mistake as it was not they who did wrong, it was them reacting to being wronged. You can argue it justifying things in Bioware's eyes all you want, but it is not a fit description of the situation for Bioware will only see what they want to see and they had already chosen to view the OT in that light and make up their minds.
Anyway, you know where we are and are always welcome. Don't feel like you have to choose one over the other, you can always choose both (unless Bioware decides not).
I'm participating in the back up Forums as well but I'm still checking out here in hopes they reverse the decision.

Well I only posted in Off-Topic after I initially came here for my ME3 MP run which ended a few months ago when my 360 controller crapped out. Payce BW I'm out. You're gonna lose most of your community cause of your shortsightedness.

Maybe not, but the community for damned sure does. Which is why I'm still here;jumping ship is too easy and jumping ship does nothing for the people in the future that are likely to get tossed around and separated like we just were.

We haven't met. I mostly post in the DA and ME forums. We have a community there too. There are multiple communities within the forums. Just posting mostly in OT doesn't mean everyone else is gone too.
I certainly don't have your post count, but I do have over 20k posts here and I was on the old bioware forums too (when they were nwnforums), and I've never gotten on the mods' bad side. Maybe they saw OT as just a bunch of troublemakers having unproductive conversations, but the fact that even I would consider ragequitting this place I think shows how blind that mindset really is.
And even though I'm not going to do anything stupid, I'm pretty much set on leaving this place and never coming back once I'm done venting. I don't even care if they reopen the Lobby now.
I wish you wouldn't, should things go back to what they were.
