I wish I could speak other languages beyond English and Spanish so I could enter the other forums and bring this up with them(not that it'd matter).

All I know how to say in various languages is "thank you" in eleven. English, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, French, German, Hindi, Korean, Swahili, Japanese, and Latin.

But there's no one to thank today.

The reason the English forum was affected and the rest weren't is because the other forums don't have NEARLY the same amount of activity. Who has the most posts in those regions? How do they compare to mine? Lets be real here.

Though to close the English Off Topic section and not the others comes across as pure shade. That wasn't cool at all.

Whoa there, play nice. Let's not have a "number of posts" contest. It's even possible the moderators for the other boards weren't even made aware.

Oh I'm sure that's their reason, and I know I don't have to explain to anyone here why that's a terrible reason, but I feel like explaining anyway.

So, you can reach more people with other forms of social media? Alright, cool.

Why the heck can't you do that as well as post here?

And don't say it's because it would be too much work. You're already using multiple forms of social media, how hard would it be to use the accounts you already have on here to visit now and then? Or at least post news?

Besides, I don't really care if they can reach more people via social media. This is their own official forum, where the enthusiastic are told to go. It's nothing short of disrespectful to neglect us and this place. It's so two-faced it makes me sick.

Aye. But then again I don't even know if they tell people to come here anymore.

Its not a contest, it was an observation to make the point that most of the activity on this site is in the English section which is why it was targeted. Keep in mind, I'm not attacking or trying to compete with anyone here.

It was a shady move. Maybe they thought that the OT Forum was more active than the DA and ME forums as of late, but then both game forums are still very active. I don't see why they had to close the OT forum just to force users to talk about DA and ME more. We're basically just recycling threads.

And many of the posts in these threads do not seem to indicate otherwise.

This may be unfair, but the good have been punished with the bad for a very long time.

Before the release of DAI I had only accumulated about 567 posts on the BSN and here over six years. I tended to lurk in the DA and ME sections simply because those sections were constantly filled with arguments, and with really weird posts regarding the LI companions. You couldn't even swing a stick without starting off some argument about how horrible the ME3 ending was, why mages were better than templars, or how "maiwaifu is better than urs". I avoided Off-Topic because I, like many others, believed that Off-Topic was the worst place in existence.

Then one thread that I had been posting in was moved to Off-Topic, and I was instantly filled with dread. I imagined that I would now have to interact with the most toxic part of the forum, but to my surprise that wasn't what I found. Instead, I found the one part of the forum where people were actually FRIENDLY to each other. Where all of the "trolling" was done in good fun and both parties perfectly understood it (anything relating to Recon and MLP comes to mind). Granted, there were a few instances relating to certain posters who will remain nameless that became fully toxic, but that was an extremely rare occurrence.

As time passed on, I slowly stopped going up into the DAI/ME sections of the forums because I knew I would instantly be bombarded by threads filled with arguments. This was especially true right after DAI released and their were numerous threads about how the game sucked, how the templars/mages were the bestest and those that agreed were disgraces to humanity, or any number of inane argumentative topics.

hihg

Off-Topic was the least toxic place on this board, and anyone that actually spent time there knows that. That's why a number of us are extremely upset that it was randomly shut down with little to no warning.

My Discover Andromeda thread, original as it is, is on page three of the Andromeda section. I imagine page one is all stuff we've already seen before that'll continue to get repeated over and over until Bioware finally releases information on Andromeda which they shouldn't even do until they are way closer to launch.

This. Is saying "this" sufficient? Because this.

I found Off Topic thru a post that was made in the other forums about how Off Topic was all about ponies(MLP reference, back when it JUST got popular).

I was like "What the hell?"

Looked. Found a very young MLP thread. Posted in it.

The rest as they say is my post count.

I don't think Andromeda has release date yet, but if they are going to release more info, I'll assume that ME:A will be released before E3 of next year. Also, I have no clue why Andromeda has so many threads.

@LPPrince I discovered the OT Forum back during legendary BSN. I believe the OT forum existed then if memory serves. I've always know we had one, but I hardly spend much time in it. That doesn't mean I don't care about the OT forums being closed.

I'll answer that question.

Every thread in that section="Yadda Yadda Yadda- Thoughts?"

I don't know how that Thoughts thing became a trend but like all thread title trends its been taken out of control.

Heh. Reddit. I have an account and am familiar with how to use it so I can keep up with GG news but it's upvote based forum style will never win me over. It's so counterproductive to good discussion.

As for this place, BioWare is actively trying to make the forum easier on themselves to moderate and intentionally push traffic elsewhere. If that means screwing up the game sections with spoilers and non-spoilers, or destroying the Off Topic section, then so be it. Even if they're pressured into bringing Off-Topic back, they will try something in future because their goals won't have changed.

I will probably delete my account once I've shilled for VSN a little more. Seriously, these decisions (not just the OT closing) are driven by BioWare's desire to stifle and choke the forum of life. I posted something similar when they got rid of Off-Topic groups and forced The Shelter to relocate. They don't want a forum community full of contributors, they want a hugbox and echo chamber to regurgitate marketing points. It's all about the appearance of a forum and a community, not actually having one.

Keep in mind, the VSN isn't just for Off Topic refugees, it's pretty welcoming as long as you can contribute to the community and exercise a decent level of self moderation.

I knew it existed but didn't use it. I just went to another forum I frequented when I got tired of talking Bioware subjects. But when I found it, I realized that if I got bored about talking of the Bioware games, I could keep talking to Bioware fans about other stuff in one place. It was great. One stop shop for all things Bioware.

And there are places on OT where I found info and cheer during times away from the game forums. Games, Workday Cheer, Skyrim thread, etc were all pleasant breaks away from asking for Tech stuff.

But there is also a contingent of toxic posts that appear in all parts of the boards, and it was such as these that seemed to drive away the Devs. And now, without direct supervision, it may be too much trouble for what it was originally designed to be.

It is sad, but again, I cannot blame them for this action. Hope they can find another way, but also understand why it possibly occurred like this.

I left the ME and DA sections because of the devs behavior during the DA2 and ME3 controversies. Off-Topic was an oasis amidst a sea of rabid fanatics, sycophants and tyrants. I stayed there for the people.

Weeeell, now those people have disappeared, off to other locales. While we try to convince Bioware that they made an error.

I went to OT for the anime thread, yes. Posted in DA forums until most of my friends from that section abandoned ship after all the crap post-DA2. Really got cut off after the news feed was scrapped, but went back a bit for DAI and MEA discussions, pretty much as a total stranger despite my postcount, most of which is still from DA discussions.

(I steered as clear as I could from the whole ME3 orbital forum bombardment)

Except I've also left for that "other locale". Bioware doesn't often acknowledge when they've made an error, and I doubt this will be one of those times.

I'd like to say.

Had Vroom not made a forum for everyone to get back together, I would still be here, still complaining about how this is a kick in the groin to every person who has ever posted in the Off Topic, and an insult to every person who has even posted on their forums.

And if they reopened the Off Topic, I'd still be posting on it, but I'd always remember that VSN is still there. Because with this, they said they don't want me here, that they don't want any person that has posted in this thread here.

If I get a warning point for this, as many have for making the kinds of comments I have made, then that just reinforces it.

As long as you keep it civil Prince, they won't ban you, but if they do, they are only proving me right.

Because we only got 12 minutes.

Because we only got 12 minutes, in the second most active section, where I met people I will talk to for as long as they let me, who taught me more about myself than I could have learned on my own, Bioware spit in my face. I went there as a safe place to talk after Mass Effect 3's Multiplayer had it's support cut, and I knew the place was going to fall apart. I met Prince in the MLP thread, and when the time came he created the RWBY thread, and every poster in that thread I consider a friend. I went on the anime thread, and continued to meet the people I want to know for more than Bioware gave us.

And rather than slap them in the face or yell at them, even if they don't listen.

I just picked up my bag and gave my regards to the people I have been friends with for 3 years, told them where I was going to be staying

I didn't do the easiest thing, I am risking every relationship I built on this forum by moving to another one. There are some people who I don't think I will ever see again, and that really sucks.

And most of us graduated highschool, so a lot of us know what it's like to just dump huge amounts of our social circles. But the difference is we knew when graduation day came. This is equivalent to the principal walking into your classroom in your Junior year and saying "Hey, get the **** out, you guys just graduated, we did it to make the school a more united place. You won't have a bus ride home, and we are taking your shoes."
