I'd like to say.

Had Vroom not made a forum for everyone to get back together, I would still be here, still complaining about how this is a kick in the groin to every person who has ever posted in the Off Topic, and an insult to every person who has even posted on their forums.

And if they reopened the Off Topic, I'd still be posting on it, but I'd always remember that VSN is still there. Because with this, they said they don't want me here, that they don't want any person that has posted in this thread here.

If I get a warning point for this, as many have for making the kinds of comments I have made, then that just reinforces it.

As long as you keep it civil Prince, they won't ban you, but if they do, they are only proving me right.

Because we only got 12 minutes.

Because we only got 12 minutes, in the second most active section, where I met people I will talk to for as long as they let me, who taught me more about myself than I could have learned on my own, Bioware spit in my face. I went there as a safe place to talk after Mass Effect 3's Multiplayer had it's support cut, and I knew the place was going to fall apart. I met Prince in the MLP thread, and when the time came he created the RWBY thread, and every poster in that thread I consider a friend. I went on the anime thread, and continued to meet the people I want to know for more than Bioware gave us.

And rather than slap them in the face or yell at them, even if they don't listen.

I just picked up my bag and gave my regards to the people I have been friends with for 3 years, told them where I was going to be staying

I didn't do the easiest thing, I am risking every relationship I built on this forum by moving to another one. There are some people who I don't think I will ever see again, and that really sucks.

And most of us graduated highschool, so a lot of us know what it's like to just dump huge amounts of our social circles. But the difference is we knew when graduation day came. This is equivalent to the principal walking into your classroom in your Junior year and saying "Hey, get the **** out, you guys just graduated, we did it to make the school a more united place. You won't have a bus ride home, and we are taking your shoes."

I'm giving you an e-hug, man. A real one if I could.

If that happened in an anime, is the principal Ragyou?

No Ragyou would do naughty things to you first like in those weird internet videos no one here watches....

Prince,

I admire your tenacity, but BioWare doesn't want the traffic, doesn't want the community. You keep talking about a vibrant community, filled with discussion, but that's exactly what BioWare wants to kill off. You need to wake up and realise you (or any of us) aren't wanted. I'm not blaming you in the least, you've spent a lot of time and effort contributing to this community. But you're not going to get what you're asking for, whether that's re-opening the Lobby or a candid, honest response. At best you're going to receive a canned PR response. BioWare isn't going to admit they want to kill their community, they're going to offer up platitudes and reassurances to get people to stop, then do absolutely nothing to address the core issue. Just look at Deception, or "leveling up your forum experience". Absolutely nothing came of those, and nothing will. Same for these changes. It's not just the Lobby that was hit either, the issue of DA:I spoilers and merging forum sections is going to cause problems too.

Even if BioWare caved and brought back the Lobby, they signalled their attention to get rid of it already. Why trust them? They could just make another run at destroying it later on. Best to make a clean break now.

Look, we have every reason in the world to feel that way. They've proven again and again how they really act and behave. But stop trying to talk him out of it. Let him do as he likes. If he wants to stay here and keep flailing his arms at them let him. All everyones trying to do here is convince him to give up and leave, to quit and run away. Just stop, let him be. If you don't want to be here anymore, fine. Go. But stop trying to take everyone else with you.

If he wants to stay here and keep failing his arms let him. All everyones trying to do here is convince him to give up and leave, to quit and run away. Just stop, let him be. If you don't want to be here anymore, fine. Go. But stop trying to take everyone else with you.

Its fine. They're just looking out for me and they have every right to feel the way they do. As I said before, Bioware hasn't done anything to get anyone's faith in them restored here. Its not surprising many feel the way they do.

But I remember a better Bioware that wasn't anything like this and while I understand its impossible to go back to that Bioware, I do believe a new, better Bioware is a possibility. And for those Bioware fans of the future, they deserve a better one than one that gives us 12 minutes.

Yes they do. I remember that wonderful Bioware too. I might not have a lot of posts. But I've been here a long ass time. Don't give up that fight damnit, someone has to stick up for those future fans. Everyone else can just think of the Now, and abandon ship and go. But I too like to think of those future fans who will one day wander in here.

Edit: Besides, as long as the effort continues. Bioware can never say we didn't try to meet them halfway. We've gone our half of the way, and we're sitting there waiting for them to come the other half. If everyone just ups and leaves, it's proves them right, that weren't willing to be reasonable and talk about things. I won't allow that.

Well, I remember after DA 2 got released, desperately arguing for BioWare to return to a Dragon Age: Origins style game. That there was still a huge, untapped market for faithful modernisations of the traditional RPG formula. I even drafted my own dialog system that bridged the gap between text and paraphrasing voiced options (the intent wheel/compass), I was that into it. So I understand the passion, but because of that, I also understand the futility.

In any case, keep posting and fighting the good fight if you want, I'm not going to stop you. But there is a home you can go to if BioWare doesn't give the kind of response you're looking for. That's all I'm saying.

I know brother, I know. We all wanted DA2 to be the game it never was, and I know there's a shelter somewhere else if Bioware shows me the door.

Hey y'all, curious. Whats your story? How did you discover the off topic section of the forum?

I wish I could remember. I know I joined in 2011, and I know I started on the ME boards, (a shout out to users like mnomaha and coldwetn0se for being so welcoming) but as for how I fell into the toxic abyss of off-topic? No idea. I know it took me a few months/years to even realize OT existed, buried all the way down at the bottom.

It might have been Party Temple, which started in OT. I laughed so hard I cried several times throughout that glorious thread.

I've never been that social of a person. I'd been content to mostly lurk on the ME forums, because frankly there was a crapton of hostility there. It was not - as a whole - a welcoming atmosphere, despite ME2 being largely 'positive'. (Again, there were amazing people there, but sadly they were few and far between.)

Off-Topic was wholly welcoming from the get-go. It made me, someone who'd call herself antisocial in real life, want to socialize. Sure, we've had our mangiraffedogs and whatnot, but rarely, if ever, any outright hostile people. You can't say that about any of the other sections (to my knowledge and experience, at least.)

When I discovered Off-Topic, I didn't return to the game forums in any real capacity. A post here and there over the course of a few months at the most. I think it's people like me that BW don't care to have around. We're here on their forums talking about things that aren't their games, and we don't even talk about their games when they're relevant.

I'll say it again - I left the game forums because of a largely unwelcoming atmosphere. (And to be honest, I just couldn't drum up the desire to join in on any of the discussions. I like the games, but I guess not as much as the majority here do. At least not enough to have the same discussions over and over.)

Off-Topic was my home. And now that home is gone. I would like to have a concrete reason why, but I feel I already know.

Even if there were people here that didn't talk about Bioware's games, I don't see why they'd turn down being in control of a place where Bioware fans could come together and talk about other things. Better that than them being elsewhere, out of control and saying whatever that could hurt the brand.

Newsflash. the idea behind an off-topic section is to keep the on-topic section clean, thats why every single respectable forum I know has one. Congratulations, now all the ''stuff'' from the OT Section will inevitably bleed into the gaming sections, and as a bonus tons of your customers are angry.

Who the heck runs this community? 5 year olds? They don't even understand the basics.

See with tweets and other social media, you can announce things and "reach" people, but you never have to respond to them. You can market things. It's one way communication. And if they do respond to someone's question via a tweet it makes them feel special. It also makes it appear that the company cares for the individual. In a forum however, it's not like that. This is old fashioned. It's more two way. This is more end user giving feedback and community oriented.

So they'll let us vent here forever.

Is it two way? Its felt pretty one sided for a few years now.

Mine were less gore filled, but yes.

The speed of implementation told me they really were not interested in any discussion. That Conal Pierse posted after the first announcement was a bit of a surprise. There are alternatives to here when you are ready for them. You are an asset to whatever online community you participate in.
