You missed out on many an avatar.
Did I?

Eh? I'm also pretty obtuse sometimes.

Did I?
Mhm. Ask the forum about my Rarity+falling feathers avatar.
But any who, enough of that;thats OFF TOPIC. OHOOOOO
Man I miss the OT board. Still feeling it.

I have a gif avatar right now, you just need a custom script to see it move outside of my profile page.
I like it.
I would've talked about it more in Off Topic.

Ah, I remember the days when one of the bigger changes we wanted to see on the BSN were to enable gif avatars...
I get why they don't feature them though. Back in the old days they helped slow down pages for some, especially in the off topic section where many had gif avvies, myself included.

You usually have gif avatars, don't you? Ever since I realized, I check your page every time I notice you change it up to see what it is. ![]()

Yep, ever since some of my friends in the anime thread pointed out that script to me anyway.
The anime thread, in the off-topic that is now closed.
I had gif avatars on the BSN too when you had to use bobobo's instructions to upload them.
Dude, I rolled the dice;I had to have other people upload my custom avatars for me. I only trusted friends I made in off topic with that, and they didn't do me wrong.
Barring the time bobobo trolled me once. ![]()
Removing the off-topic forum is a bad idea plane and simple, the off-topic thread allowed BSN user's to share common interest without having to resort to PM's. The choice to remove it is only going to do more harm than good.
And there are places on OT where I found info and cheer during times away from the game forums. Games, Workday Cheer, Skyrim thread, etc were all pleasant breaks away from asking for Tech stuff.
But there is also a contingent of toxic posts that appear in all parts of the boards, and it was such as these that seemed to drive away the Devs. And now, without direct supervision, it may be too much trouble for what it was originally designed to be.
It is sad, but again, I cannot blame them for this action. Hope they can find another way, but also understand why it possibly occurred like this.
So it's BioWare's fault that these toxic posters are still around. So the forums are getting punished because of the ineptitude of the moderation team or lack thereof.
Thanks for agreeing with everyone else for a change! ![]()

Ugh... I really liked these forums for being focused on Bioware games and, yet, having a lot of opportunities to discuss other things. Then you remove Off-Topic... Very well, back to MMO Champion; see you in a month by when you guys will probably realize that this wasn't a brilliant idea and bring Off-Topic back. ![]()
I've seen some posts on here talking about putting together a letter. I think maybe a proposal would be a good idea. Something within that outlines certain actionable steps BW can take to really improve this site.
I've seen posts speaking to problems of the essentially bad user interface with these new changes. Difficulty in navigating and finding threads of interest; and the haphazard way they were meshed together.
Lack of real and discerning moderation. The anonymous "BioBot" moderating technique needs to go out the airlock. It is cold and impersonal, not good for a Community.
Lack of interaction from the Devs themselves. So, what type of platform, or venue can we suggest that would provide a Safe place for Devs to drop in and maybe even answer some pre-selected questions? Ofc, this would entail the mods become more a part of the community than they have been of late. I imagine they would the ones setting it up and selecting some questions from the community.
Ofc, bringing back the OT section. I mean, you do not throw people out of the bar while they are waiting for their reserved table for dinner. This in turn goes back to finding a way to engage the Community during the downtime between games. It's a long time between games.
There is also the issue of news and announcements, especially concerning issues players may be having with their products. People should not have to dig around and find responses from other sites, or buried within this site. I believe LP mentioned a way to link these things together somehow? Make it more efficient?
More creativity and effort, yes, effort, from the Community managers and mods. I will be honest when I say at this point it feels like they are just phoning it in. They are doing a Dingle. They probably look at it as some awful job they have to do on their way to...something else? To being devs? Writers? Working their way up the EA food chain? But if that's what you want, you are going to have to put in some creativity and effort. Clocking in is not enough.
And it will take quite a few from BW to make these changes. No one person can, or should, have to carry the load. They will burn out. You can't be here all the time as a manager or dev or even mod. It's too much.
Hmm, but where to send? Some have mentioned Twitter. Facebook. Reddit. But also contacts from Ms.Shapiro to Aaryn, BW to EA, the marketing ones..even Mr. Andrew "Suavecito" Wilson himself. It needs to be CC'd. That;s the tricky part.
It's a great community and has the potential to be a great platform. And there are changes/improvements people have been wanting for awhile.
I also hope the community managers and mods stop being afraid of their own community. It's really not that bad. There are rough spots, but you do not actually need a hazmat suit....much. It's not us versus them. It should not be, although it's feeling like that. I'm sure you do share many a horror story of the BSN over lunch and commiserate with each other, but let's not let it become a Thing.
Let's see what we can do here. Truth is, I can't believe I even care this much about some online video game community. But I do.
I'll see what I can do from here. Worth a try. Hmm..
BioEAWare...crashing their own plane forums with no survivors.
No wonder the games have been getting worse. The devs are loosing touch with their own customers.
Normally I'd say it's the suits, but the suits were never in touch to begin with.
This is gonna top the ME3 ending as one of the worst moves done by a company.
Move to an imageboard.
Absolute freedom, no authoritarian mods (usually, but they can't perma-ban you and you can make your own board).
You can take my forum, but you will never take my FREEEEDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM.
Is off topic reopened yet? No? *sigh*
