I'm out of likes, but I'm still lurking in solidarity.

 

I don't have any where else to go.

I like following the twitter thread for new info, but only a chosen few are allowed to post there. I made the mistake of wondering into the character threads once, never again. I don't like talking about builds, so I stay out of multiplayer areas. There isn't enough info on MEA, so I have NO desire to join in the mass speculation/ bitching about a game 1 1/2 years out. I'm not social enough to make it on the refugee boards.

So, I lurk in support of being able to lurk in OT again.

I got railed on by people in there because I dared to try talking to everyone(including Bioware employee and friend Barrett Rodych), and because the page counts blew up when I showed up, they thought news was posted. It was just me, so they sent a mod after me that gave me a verbal warning to post less.

 

Some nice members of the forum defended me and said that all these people complaining would be doing the same thing a couple days later so they had no right to complain.

 

Lo and behold, I checked two days later, and they were doing the exact same thing. I basically got selected out for being top poster. So yeah, screw that.

 

Off Topic NEVER made me feel unwelcome.

Which just serves to show how utterly ludicrous the moderation standards in here are ... or were.

 

This needs work. This needs change.

 

If ANYTHING good is to come out of this, it should be that it served as a wake-up call and catalyst for better community management.

What it looks to you what am doing? am obviously bashing on bioware.

 

And Obsidian forums bring me here for NVW2 i tend to check that forum usually. And the "what are you currently listeining to" thread, good music folks post there.

It really just depends where you end up. My Discover Andromeda thread has been REAL good to me, nothing of the sort there. But like I said, in other places it can be horrible.

 

But whatever, guess all Bioware cares about is that people talk about them and only them.

Shut the whole thing down. If Off Topic, the cleanest part of the forum wasn't worth it, then honestly none of it is.

^That. Axing Off-Topic is supposed to be beneficial to the community. (which I can't understand other than it being a cost-cutting issue with us being the low man on the totem pole*, so to speak) If removing a much needed outlet AND a plethora of 100% decent people is "beneficial" in any way, there's something fundamentally wrong. Cut your losses, shut everything down.


*Despite being an idiom referring to someone of low rank or status, the actual low man on a totem pole is just as important (or more so) than the rest! So hey... yeah.

There's not a lot of users on this Bioware reddit so if people posts it will stay on the front page for a while.

We'd get more attention on the DA sub reddit , but we'll probably get locked for being off topic sadly.

I can be very old around here if that's what would make you content(i can teach you some stuff too), i don't have a very "fond" memories with the mods here nor with BW treatment to us, plus am just stating facts, their last three installments(DA2,ME3,DAI) all sucked big time, and i just hppen to have the balls to tell them that.

 

You should get off from your high halla.

 

if you have nothing of merit to contribute, and are incapable of showing even basic levels of respect then your presence here only serves to deter them from showing around here. Posts like yours "BIOWARE YOU SUUUUUUCK!" Are literally worthless, they contribute nothing, all they do is prove to Bioware they are correct in avoiding us like a plague. Just stop it. If you refuse to maturely address them or talk about this, then just move along.

Aye, we're trying to turn things back around to better days, not have Bioware constantly pull the, "We don't like being here in our free time because we don't like criticism no matter what we do" card along with the "Off Topic goes bye bye because it will somehow make things better" when clearly it hasn't.

 

What they need is proper criticism and someone to wake them up with the realization that this community management thing ISN'T WORKING. And hasn't been working for a long time now.

Puddi put it best (I'm paraphrasing here):

"If a freely-hosted forum set up in half a day could accomodate all of the Off-Topic posters and more, then The Lobby clearly wasn't wasting a lot of BioWare's money."

They want to kill forum traffic so as to drive away everyone who relies on this place as a community. BioWare wants to expend as little energy as possible managing this place because they don't see the benefit. BSN isn't a community to them, BSN is the enemy. Toxic forums, mod bots, they actively see BSN as a battleground simply because BioWare is unable to discern earnest criticism from unreasonable criticism. They can't handle it and they see it all as the same thing unless it's coated in effusive praise and bootlicking. So they're happy to cut away until all that's left are sycophants and low investment posters. Lore Discussion will probably be merged into the Story Section and Fan Creations will be merged into the General Discussions. Bump this post in 2 years when one of both of these sections will be gone.

It's akin to a gardener who is too lazy to water his plants. A gardener who then gets frustrated at them when they begin to rot or shrivel. Instead of saving a stem to replant or cutting off the rot, he pulls the whole plant out of the ground and throws it away. Before going back to reddit instead of watering his other remaining plants.

Not that I'm putting anything on Bryan for the OT deletion or anything, he's not part of the Community Team and he seems like a decent guy. But his attitude is part of the problem and clearly one that is shared across the company judging from their actions.

This is where the discourse is at. Come here and talk to us. Not just show up out of nowhere because someone hurt your feelings.

That is the biggest discourse right there, come out and talk. Explain your reasons for this. Seemingly putting your fingers in your ears and ignoring the whole thing is not going to make it better. You have posters that have participated in areas other than off topic, that really at this point dont wish to even participate there anymore. If it was truly a matter of off topic being such a bad place then it should have been an across the board all languages lock down. Not some lame excuse about it has a different community of moderators.
