This makes me sad. I don't think they are ever coming back. 

 

I have to admit to feeling incredibly disheartened as well.

 

I love these forums and I love BioWare. I wish the two could play together again.

Bryan Johnson's the only one am seeing the past month, and as i said earlier he's more of a reddit than BW forums, the funny thing he's current status update is " if you need me find me on reddit", i might try with him there at BIOADMIRALX, he posted in "what are you currently listening to?" a good song nonetheless had a good beat in it.

Cause at this point this thread forum is a condemned building they're allowing allowing people to stay at until the kick everyone out and finish blowing it up.

I think the final goal is to equal that of EA's Spore forum. Small community that is focused around 1/2 things a day. As I doubt EA is going to let one of their big name developers just nuke their own forum completely.

So without the ability to shut down the forum, and no real visible want for one, the mods look they are releasing the air out of it until it shrinks to a more tolerated size ie 1/2 active sub sections a day.

Confirmed by the fact I am signed also in the The Sims 4 italian EA official forum, and it's barely held together with spits. It's even a great thing if people come posting more than once a day.

The fact that the other place has more dev posts than this thread is disheartening. And I'm not saying that expecting BJ to be here because that doesn't change anything, but rather Conal and those in charge.

To suggest Bioware is reaching more of the masses through social media is just plain lunacy. They are simply reaching more of the people who worship the ground they walk on.

I don't like seeing myself become this cynical, but I can't ignore what I've been seeing. That's exactly what they're doing. They only respond to praise with very few exceptions, ignore even the most agreed-upon criticisms, and forget that criticism is needed to make better games later.

 

Anyway, is Conal really the community manager? Wouldn't it say that below his name on the site? Or have they simply done away with actually having us know who's who?

But what caused them to leave to begin with? That needs fixed. If they left because of death threats and generally awful human beings- how do you fix that?

You don't fix it, you just deal with it - with moderation. Death threats and other such nonsense are an inevitability on forums, or anywhere else, really. It can't be an excuse to give up on the vast majority of the forum-goers who aren't like that. Simply having more effective (and transparent) moderation would go a long way. It's just like real-life laws. People will always break them. You try as hard as you can to encourage people not to, but know that you'll just have to deal with the people who do. You can't fix it.

 

Not to mention that this forum is a bastion of sanity, respect, and compassion compared to most places out there. If anyone truly thinks this entire place is "toxic" they must be a recluse both on the internet and in the world.

Still doesn't change the fact that hundreds of posters exclaimed their frustration, confusion, and disappointment with the changes, while maybe two were fairly neutral and possibly one(?) appreciated them. Bioware has all the info it needs to decide what to do next. But they don't care, as evidenced by the lack or warning and posts in this thread.

 

Edit: And as I'm typing this, a Bioware employee posts   Still, not to discuss this, apparently.

Some think that. Others think its merely a choice.

 

One of the issues the majority of us have with this place being that more and more devs have made the choice not to post here, which leaves us feeling abandoned, unwanted, not looked after, and then when big sweeping changes are made to our communities with nothing more than a 12 minute warning-

 

Like we don't belong here.

 

Thats not on you obviously. You're not behind this nor at fault. I still mention the time you popped into my Jaws of Hakkon stream for the BSN on Twitch twice and helped me out(especially offering help with the puzzle, that was top).

 

But it sucks for us here. And more folks like you around would make it suck less. Course, less folks like the ones that attack you or take what you say out of context would make it suck less for you here, and thats equally as valid a thing to strive for.

 

But we feel like there really isn't anyone striving for it, as far as the big wigs are concerned. At least, not in a way that feels like a win-win for all of us.
