Once again I cant speak to peoples motivations why they are here or not. More than likely in a month I wont be around here. I generally show up when I am supporting a product post release, and I am soon moving off DAI.

Does this mean support will soon end for DA:I, or can you not tell us? Might as well ask.

You know, I decided that it was a pretty good post, so I'll try again.

I sent this to a dev but I don't think it's going to get read, so here goes, since you're here.

I rarely posted in off topic but recognized it as something of a refuge for people who didn't like the arguments in the ME and DA forums, as well as a place for people who'd gotten to know each other have a place to hang out between games.

I'm sure you know this, but you have a very loyal and very vocal fan base. You've created two of the best RPG franchises in recent video game history. These are not The Elder Scrolls where you wander the world alone (my anti-Bethesda bias is showing), pretend your character needs to eat and sleep, and get rumors from one-dimensional bartenders. These are vibrant worlds with vibrant characters that people love and love to hate. I mean, there are still arguments about Loghain in the DA forum. These are games with the Garrus/Joker Comedy Hour and Tali's straw. And games where you cried when the parents you only knew for a half hour were killed by treachery. These are games where your character makes decisions of galactic (or at least, known world) importance. Your fans love this. However weird and contentious the forums are sometimes, I see it kind of like a family. You can argue among yourselves but you still look out for each other.

I don't think any us have good answers because we only see pieces of the problem. At least from our perspective, one of the biggest problems is forum moderation. This is a great post detailing the biggest problems and this is a great post offering solutions. The solution may not be ideal for the dev team, but something really needs to change there. At the very least, having community moderators who haven't been active in years should raise eyebrows.

Just speaking personally, I don't see how letting forum members only talk about the games will help you build a stronger community. You do have a strong community but I don't think you know what to do with it. You have people who hated the end of ME3 but still say it's the best series they've ever played, and they still play it! Check themikefest's profile. He keeps count of each Mass Effect game he's played. Then you've got people like me who just started playing ME three months ago and already have two and a half trilogy playthroughs. You have fans who are passionate about your product. Most companies would kill for that.

So really, what do you guys want from us? Do you want us as active and vibrant members who participate and give feedback, even if you don't like it? Or do you want a passive group of people who are only allowed to talk about plots, missions, and quests? Because the latter doesn't inspire the passion and loyalty you already have.

Just dropping back in to see how things are going and to continue to bemoan the loss of off topic.

I don't have the time I'd like to dedicate to fighting the good fight, but I'm here in spirit.

Do you know how unbelievably happy it makes me to even see you pop your head in here?

Anyone who has spent some time on here no, but someone who is just glancing at this thread the first time, thats another matter.

Personally after I moved off from ME3MP onto DAI, I felt I had nothing to contribute, since my main type of posting is based on explaining how things work. Well I cant do that on a product in development.

OK, you've made some valid points in the other place as to why you prefer Reddit. However Reddit's formatting is not healthy, it is not conductive to long term or productive debates and discussions. How about you take all those features you like about Reddit, and apply them to the BSN? Not you, specifically, but Bioware in general. Add a Dislike button that hides Trolls posts, so the Community can do it's part to hide and censor the hate and vitriol. Don't be afraid to ban people. Don't be afraid of accused of "censorship". if the person is acting like a total douche, or very clearly broke the Forum rules, then the majority of us will understand. However part of the problem is the the Forum rules do not seem to be enforced consistently, they seem to be just vague enough for different Mods to interpret their meaning differently. If this is not the case, this is the perception many fans have. So perhaps re-write them to make it more clear to people.

I understand your professional experience gives us a view and perspective we lack, and that you are more restricted in things you are allowed to say. However, and this is just vibe I'm getting here. It seems like due to the past, the response from your end is to just stop trying altogether. That times have changed and this is just how things are, and there's no point in trying to change that environment. If that is in fact not what you are saying, I apologize. However if it is, then all I have to say to that is, many other communities are more liberal in their communication between Employees and fans. There are still places in the internet where what we suggest happens, and it mostly works. How can at least trying what we suggest we worse than just never trying at all, and just keep letting things go on like this? How is this preferable for anyone? Maybe it's preferable for your bosses, who care more about bottom lines and business than active community engagement. I know it can work BJ, there is proof out there that it can. The only limiter here, would be the willingness of employees on your end, and the Company policies of your place of employment. Chris Roberts and his group talk to the community non-stop, to the point of overload. They go through the design process, show us Bug Fixing, Have weekly Q&As, They make it clear that fan feedback is always secondary to Chris's vision of the final product and mostly everyone is fine with that. As I said, I know this situation is different, because it's Chris's company, and that's how he wants to engage the community. Weather or not people think their business model is ethical or not is irrelevant to my point. Active, Proactive community engagement can still happen in this new modern era. It can still happen. We can still sit down and just talk to each other. There is proof that this can work. It just depends on factors outside of your personal control. But if you truly want to improve the relationship with the community, you and those like-minded could perhaps try to get an internal movement going. To change the policies that prevent you from even trying, if such things existed to begin with.

I'd say its inevitable really, wouldnt you? Last DLC on the horizon and after that it's new IP and Andromeda. Single tear.

Its a long lonely wait for those of us who only play one of the many.

How in the world do you know he's got good taste in music? Can you sense it on him? Like the force or something? Lol.

Force... no lol  , I already stated earlier , he posted in "what are you currently listening to?" thread , first BW post in three years in that thread.

I generally show up when I am supporting a product post release, and I am soon moving off DAI.

Going to work on a new project, like say ME:A or the other undisclosed IP in the works?

Hope you have fun with it.

Also hope at least a couple people in here left a favourable impression so if you ever want to chat with fans, you know which ones aren't totally off the ropes.

... You called it Mr. Johnson. Fine, I'll stop trying to tell you how people are better than you thought they were. Still think it's worth trying though.

And as for LP: oy mate, I've been helping you here all the time! *whooshes to bed*

Yes, I think it's coming soon too. Just thought I'd ask. I'm just concerned they won't fix a couple of things that are still a problem, as well as potential bugs from the next DLC. You should always have at least one patch after your last DLC!

Let's face it , if they were gonna fix the tons of bugs , they would've done already , the last patch was all MP content , the SP stopped being priority long time ago.
