Wouldn't be surprised if that's it, honestly.
There's a LOT of fluff there in between the handful of worthwhile topics that they have to keep an eye on, and it doesn't really benefit them at all.
Doesn't hurt them either, does it?

Kinda, if they have to monitor it, which they do.
Is this what drug addicts feel like when they can't get their fix and they've effectively been forced to quit cold turkey?
I have a tab open to the Bioware forums always. its my first tab. I still find myself coming here to check on things and get updated, yet I realize upon thinking about clicking it that there's hardly any reason to at the moment.

Edit: Just decided to remove my text here. For strategic reasons.
I just worked ten hours nightshift without a break so forgive me if I already asked it and/or the answer was already given: when does PAX end?
Congratulations to post 16.000, Elhanan.
Too bad it isn't on topic, maybe a mod could clean up all this offtopic spam?
Only if you report it like some people I know.

... we feel it's important to foster conversations within our community that can't be found outside these boards.
...
And when is that supposed to start? I thought you were just ignoring the BW forums more and more. New patches, patch notes, DLC, etc., don't even get announced here lately. In addition to that I don't think community building and policing the forums have anything to do with each other. The latter is getting more and more prevalent these days. Anonymous mods and reducing the number of forums makes policing them easier. I suggest that you shut down these forums altogether and just concentrate on twitter, facebook and the likes. Perfect places to build hype and less labor intensive to police. You won't need the community, as long as you can build your hype, right?

BioWare believes that hype will help improve the community.
Well from my experience things happen because people don't wanna do their job, I just wonder if this is the case for why we must lose the off-topic section of our forums. Must the masses suffer for the actions of the few?
People who violate and make these forums a vulgar place to be visit the forums based on the games not the off-topic forums. It happens that way because usually their sole reason for making their bioware account was so they can do just that, attack the company at their games. It will happen with every Bioware release game and won't stop just because the off-topic section has been shut down. The off-topic section keeps people who enjoy looking at the forums coming back to the forums and without the off-topic forums you give literally no reason for people to constantly be at the computer on their free time or check their browser on their phones just to see whats going on in the forums.

and some weird ass threads, ha. Maybe they did right in closing the Off Topic section

Apparently Bioware likes to look at circle-jerking of posts, that rarely have any substance to them.
I like to reiterate that closing the off topic forums is really stupid and you should probably retract your decision before people congregate to someone else's apartment unattended where they can contract STDs and Scuttlebutt disease on their laptops and pcs. It's a known thing. Like Felicia's Day disastrous date with Jesse Cox. Also @#$% Konami.

Came back from VSN to get my Ar Tonelico: Melody of Elemia and Katanagatari Episode 7 review, because I don't want my two largest, most in depth posts on Bioware's forums gone forever.
And noticed that I had 10,069 posts.
So this is to make it an even number.

That makes me wish I could archive every post I've ever made from the best to the worst, youngest posts to oldest posts.

Fun fact: You can actually edit posts already made in the Off Topic.
Do with that what you will, people.
