If the next DLC is the final one...

Some thoughts to consider:

Will the game be post-campaign?

If so, will we be able to return to the game post-campaign like we could originally?

If we can return to the game post-campaign, what will having played post-campaign DLC add to the experience?

For instance:  Will there be new gear?  Will we finally be able to fully restore Skyhold?  If we can restore Skyhold, what benefits will that confer?  And if it does confer benefits of any sort, why wait until a possibly last expansion to add them?  If we get new gear, what purpose will that serve if it's post-campaign anyway and we can't make use of it more than a couple hours (unless we don't play the other DLC until afterward)?

There are some major indications that whatever's being announced at PAX is probably our final DLC.  We don't know for sure that it's post-campaign, or even that it's singleplayer DLC, but if it's the last one, we can expect it to be major in terms of what comes next for Dragon Age.

I admit I'm kind of sad that the end is coming to the game so soon, or so it would appear.  I kind of wish we could carry the Inquisitor forward to the next game, but, well, there will always be a new and interesting character whose shoes to fill in DA4.

My guess is the next DLC will be the final one and will only be playable post-game. New gear and characters seems like a given to me.

I don't mind it being the last DLC as long as it's of sufficient quality. The only thing I see BioWare doing after the DLC's release is a GOTY edition of the game, with all the bells and whistles included.

Two options.  Either they will be adding some sort of New Game + or you can buy the schematics for the DLC if you decide to start a new game before the events of the DLC.  That they will become available for you to buy at like the BE or other places.  It is what I would do to solve the problem anyways.  As far as restoring Skyhold.  It pretty much is...aside from that hole in the wall.

Well, I have no issue with it being the last DLC if it goes out with some interesting lore and a great story.

I do think it will probably be post-campaign only, but then my question is:  Can we keep playing after this DLC, like we can with the main campaign?  And will it add anything to the game that you could use if you happened to do that?  For instance, if I played the entire game before running through Jaws of Hakkon, would I have gear from the post-campaign DLC that I could use?  Could I repair Skyhold?  Or will Skyhold be torn down and I have to use some other base camp?

I'm expecting a harder difficulty mode, but I really wish we could instead get a New Game+.  Though with the Keep, that doesn't seem likely to me--not unless they want to give us a way to use the same character to tweak our choices to get the ending we really want to set us up for DA4.  If there is a DA4.  Which there probably will be, but that may be a long time in the future.

Nah, Skyhold has that hole in the wall and no matter if you finish all the upgrades, every tower is crumbling except for the Inquisitor's quarters and the main tower that you customize.  Also the prison is falling apart, though that might not be reparable.

If we can play the game after this DLC will largely depend on what happens to the inquisition.  There has been a lot of speculation and a lot of hints in game that the Inquisition is a limited time thing.  Unsheath the sword and then put it away again at the end of the day.

It'd be nice if they made it slightly separated from the main game then, like they did for origins and Awakening (choose new game - choose expansion instead) then pick the Inquisitor to do it with, since a post game only Story addition will not work as well when you can still run around in-game doing stuff at the end of it as if nothing else has happened other then Cory-kill.

I suppose that depends how they deal with what comes after. Maybe the Inquisition ends, but the Inquisitor becomes de facto emperor over southern Thedas. Or, maybe the Inquisition continues, but takes on other roles, such as impartial arbiter of international disputes.

Whatever happens, a certain character needs to finish painting that fresco in the rotunda.

This is actually what I liked the least about Awakening.  After the heady experience of Origins, I wanted that to continue in Awakenings and it felt really disconnected in comparison. Seeing Alistair in the beginning was a lovely connection to my Warden's story in Origins but that was also the end of it and the rest fell flat for me with the more minimalist companion interactions, etc.

I'm expecting more of the same with the final DLC of DA:I and I hope I'm pleasantly surprised with something more meaningful.

The last DLC will feature the beginning of the Quanri Invasion, the vanishing of the Inquisitor, and tease us with what to expect in DA4: Tevinter - see Quanri Invasion

plus maybe stuff about old elven gods and the fate of that one companion, aka things I don't really care much about for some reason ... just give me Qunari to slaughter...DEATH TO THE QUN!

Oh, and give me a discount on all DLC when third one hits the shelves, I consider a full playthrough around X-mas...the one-year-annversary-tour. Maybe I'll even have bothered to actually finish the Witcher until then...*yawn*

i am afraid given their ending of Mass Effect 3, bioware is going to leave us disappointed when it comes to the Solas ending/romance.  They told us "sorry that is how it ends too bad" and we didn't get a happily ever after for commander shepard either.  We buy the game, and all the DLC but they just said "the end".  i have over a hundred hours into my Da'Fen (elven female mage inquisitor) and she has jumped into both DLCs going on a Wolf hunt.  Please Bioware don't forget the gratification and satisfaction we need in an RPG on a game well played.

This is why I dont Romance Solas theres absolutely no way a Lavellan & Solas are gonna get a happy ending hell its more likely he will kill the Inquisitor Romance or not at the end of The final Dlc just watch man I can see the Butt Hurt now it will be glorious lol.

I want to see what happened between my Inquisitor Adaar and Divine Victoria"Cassandra" I want to know how that played out I mean damn its the Divine and her Vashoth Apostate Mage Lover who is argueably the most powerful person in all of Thedas be it in either Politics or Military might I want to know how this turns out.

It would be kind of galling for them to somehow reconcile Solas romances and leave it so that only people that romanced Cass end up getting dumped in the end. Would figure..... <_<

And another thing bothers me is I get this feeling B-Ware will cram as many loose ends in as possible which normally would be fine but theres alot of loose ends to tie up good luck B-Ware you got your work cut for you.

That would **** me off if they pull that BS I demand to have the ability to disband The Chantry by Force if necessary my Inquisitor already said he wasn't going to lose Cassandra to the Chantry and I'm totally selfish enough that I would destroy The Chantry if It was the only way to keep Cassandra.

I'm pretty sure Cassandra would stand against you if you tried to do that.

I think you confused my post with something else. I never said I want it to be like Awakening as in content, gameplay or anything else, only to have starting the post-game dlc in the same manner (ie: on main menu screen choose new game - expansion rather then main game)  because of how they've set the main game up in a way you can still do stuff after completing the main storyline, will be annoying if they have a post game story-line in a dlc in that post-game skyhold setting because of how they've locked out all companion interaction etc after killing Cory (whether or not they add more lines to main game is not my point here). But of course, what I'm dreading is what we'll get lol.

What kind of satisfaction? I'm pretty sure Solas doesn't actually love your character.

Them's fighting words!

I may personally think that particular relationship (whether romance or friendship) won't end well at all seeing as he has greater priorities then the Inquisitor, but that's a personal opinion, so we'll see. I am among the doubters about it being touched on in the next DLC though, again we'll see!

_____

It feels like, from all the guesses, hints etc at what's in the next DLC, that they're trying to cram too much into one if any of it is definite so I'm unsure how I feel about that after JoH and Descent where they showed us what they're willing to put into a $15 DLC ($25 for me though, yay for Australia).

Well, they said they'll do something with Solas, and everything points to the next DLC being the last (unfortunately), so...

If they crammed stuff in, I hope they crammed in a sweet, romantic kiss from Varric for my Lady Cadash.

I mean, since we're hoping and dreaming. Although, I worry about Varric. I think he may be ripe for the BW Murder Knife. :?

Aha! I guess I interpreted 'separate from the main game' to be more literal than what you originally expressed. My bad!

And I totally get the dreading part, I'm right there with you. But then again, Bioware managed to pleasantly surprise me with DA:I after I was so thoroughly disappointed with DA2 and was certain that due to EA's ownership it would never get any better, because historically, once EA enters the picture, franchises always go south and remain there.  So that gives me a teensy bit of hope that maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised with the final DLC too. But even so, I'm not holding my breath. ;)
