Anyone know of a video or breakdown of the golden nug spawn locations on the different maps? I know there's a set number of spots they can spawn and tend to be aware when im coming up to those locations, but at other times I can't seem to spawn them on stages where I know there should be a nug somewhere.

I'll write one up tomorrow morning (PST here), watch this post because I'll edit it, unless someone else comes along and does so before me.

As stated below, Nugs seem to only spawn on zones 1 and 3. If they spawn on 2 and 4, I haven't seen one yet. I'll be doing these by the non-random zones. I'll try to describe them so you'll have a grasp of where they'd be if the zones are randomized. Note that this isn't a completely exhaustive list, because my memory is pretty bad.

Tevinter Ruins

Zone 1:

Zone 1 of the Tevinter Ruins consists of five rooms, with the two treasure rooms in plain view of one another. The most defining feature of this zone is the final lower dungeon room. The Nug can spawn in front of the two treasure rooms, otherwise I haven't noticed any others here. It might be able to spawn at the remote north of the first room, but I never walk there so I'm unsure.

Zone 1 alt:

This zone consists of three rooms, dominated by a large staircase from the first room to the second. There is only one treasure room here, and the Nug can spawn to the left of the top of the staircase. I believe it could also spawn at the beginning of the first room, before you take or jump over the first small staircase, as well as the left half of the first room.

Zone 3:

This zone consists of a large outdoor area which contains three connected portions. The first portion has a view to the third, and therefore pulling the entire zone usually occurs here. The first and third portions are typical rooms. whereas the second portion connects the two and is dominated by a large rubble pile in it's right half. There is only one treasure room here, in the second portion. I've only noticed one Nug spawn here, and that is at the exit of the first portion. Hard to miss.

Zone 3 alt:

This zone consists of three sections, where the first is a half indoor/outdoor section that holds the first treasure room (which is always empty), the second is a fully outdoor area with the second treasure room in it's extreme left, and the last area being a lowered, indoor, three tiered room. Two locations I've noted as spawns here are at the exit of the first area, and the exit of the second area on the right side of the blockades. Nowhere too uncommon.

There are more zones but I can't remember their former locations so I'll stop Tevinter Ruins here.

Elven Ruins

Zone 1:

This zone consists of three sections, the second and third connected by a large pile of rubble that also serves as a staircase. The two treasure rooms, of which the one that connects to the third section via a second large pile of rubble, is always free. The two locations I've noticed here are at the halfway point of the first section, right at the arches before the exit, and in the middle of the second section at the bottom of the small stairs.

I'm thinking I should get names instead of the zone junk, so I'm stopping here. They have like names for the zones, I believe so I'll play today and record the names so this could be a bit better.

Thank you, I went searching here and on YouTube but didn't see anything, which is odd considering how in depth things usually are.

Golden Nugs always spawn on Zones 1 or 3. You get one per match. The exact spawn points are random, but in my experience they're typically around the first major pull/chokepoint.

I didn't realize you can only get 1 per match, I have run into occasions on FC where I thought nothing spawned on zone 1, then backtracked for a pot in the little cubby hole where they usually spawn and have had one appear even though we had just been through there and cleared the map. Also I know on the elven ruins map there's a stair case most people always go down to the right to enter the next zone but I have started going left, the long way around, because a big will spawn by itself over there. I just assume there's other spots in missing. Either that or someone is running ahead and spawning but not killing them.

The map selection may be random, but Golden Nug spawn rules haven't changed. You always get one in a match, either Zone One or Zone Three. They typically spawn at the halfway point or before. Due to map designs following a linear progression from entry to exit, they're actually pretty hard to miss.

I think the most likely scenario in which you miss a nug spawn is one where a treasure room at the beginning of the zone allows you to end up by the end door: Ferelden Castle Zone 1 is a good example: The nug spawn is always at the clearing at the top of the second flight of stairs, before the bridge to the end. If you open the treasure room at the beginning of the zone and climb up the ladders inside, you can end up at the exit door, do all your fighting at the end of the bridge, and then clear it without ever getting close enough to the nug spawn point to trigger it.

I've had cases where zone 1 was the random beast/giant extra so i know zone 3 will be nug. Then come zone 3 I've gone through the zone without the nug spawning, but when backtracking through after clearing the enemies, the nug spawn triggers then because i originally mustn't of gotten in close enough proximity to the spawn trigger.
