They rarely, if ever, respond to this kind of question. But trust me, they know we're speculating and probably like it that way for the time being.

True and yeah I figured as much. Still wanted him to know he's got our support as fans and also that we are here speculating away. Overall it's good for the promotion of Mass Effect in general.

I told you that they used reversed engineered reaper mass effect drives and FTL drives which operate on Space Magic and allowed the reapers to travel vast distances in little time - note the 150,000 LY traversed in 2.5 years from the end of ME1 to Arrival without discharging.

So ARKCON in my opinion was formed after the events of ME1 when we first learned of the reaper threat.

I'm not going to lie, it seems plausible.  First off, we have no idea what the ARKON program is or might be, nor do we know what this Ark ship may be capable of.  Based on in-game dialogue, we know that the Asari were tossing around the idea of replicating the technology behind Mass Relays, and we know for certain that the Protheans succeeded.  Between the two, it's entirely possible that maybe some data from Illos was recovered and used for this ARKCON, especially when we know that Salarian researchers were studying all that had been left behind according to news reports in Mass Effect 2.  Or we could simply re-purpose a preexisting Mass Relay to shoot the Ark into the Andromeda Galaxy.

Without Mass Relays, the fastest FTL speed possible allowed the Reapers to travel 30 light-years in a 24 hour period.  After doing some minor math, I discovered that it would take roughly 228 years to reach the Andromeda Galaxy at the same speed.  However, the whole point of the Mass Relays was to convert a journey that would take years or centuries with FTL drives into a few hours or a day at most.  Proportionately speaking, if we can travel from one end of the Milky Way to the other in less than a day -- a journey of 100,000 light-years -- we could make the 2.537 million light-year trip in ten solar years.

Also, never underestimate what writers can come up with to justify anything.

Mass Relays only work in pairs. So there would have to be a Mass Relay in Andromeda for us to use a Mass Relay to get there.

Well, it means Reapers have been there, but doesn't mean they are there. They could just say all the Reapers are in the MIlky Way when Mass Effect 3 happened so they don't have to actually show up again.

Destroy is the last ending I want them to canonize, since that means no Geth.

Well 3 games essentially villainized them to no end so it's better to let them fade away.

They weren't villainized. At least not any more than humanity was with Cerberus or the Krogan and the Council races with the mercenary bands. Should they be gone too?

Well they were the most prevalent enemy group I seemed to encounter over 3 games and one MP.

Eh. Just nip down to argos, buy some more toasters and stuff them with a pinnochio complex.
Sorted.

Unless it was the Leviathans who had the first mass relays built. Then they wouldn't all be "reaper tech." There would be a few that would not be reaper tech, and maybe the Leviathan thralls built a ship and went to Andromeda and built a network there. And then linked it with one particular mass relay in the Milky Way which we discovered, and the reapers never knew connected to Andromeda because it wasn't part of the Citadel network, but it's location was noted in the deep recesses of Omega.

See? I just pulled "how we get to Andromeda" out of my hind quarters. And pulled a mass relay system out of there too!

Leviathan can be a quality plot device.

The Leviathan in the Leviathan DLC tells us that the Reapers are the ones who invented the Mass Relays in order to increase the efficiency of the harvests. The Leviathans did not create them.

We learned as much in ME1. What Leviathan says is just kind of a restatement. The reason for the Mass Relays was obvious enough, I felt (as with most other stuff Leviathan "tells us".)

Bio can also write a new story in a new galaxy with no mention of the Shep's universe.  They are under no obligation to do so.

There is absolutely no need to mention MW events.

This isn't an AU its set after the trilogy.

OT: There is no way the game is set 10 years after the trilogy, its unrealistic for the galaxy to develop intergalactic travel in 10 years especially when its still recovering from a galactic scale war.

Eh, nothing that can't be retconned. After all, ME6 will be the best place to start the trilogy.

Nah, there is one big problem with relays besides uncut connection with Reapers - they transmit RGB. Unless some handwaving appears and they don't do it to Andromeda. It's simpler to use completely independent plot-device, whether it's wormhole (if 10 years info is correct) or use Reaper engine to get to Andromeda.

Oh, hello again. Do you have a minute to talk about Ark Theory and our Lord and Saviour - the Pathfinder?

Nah, Geth engineers quickly figured out what the crucible was and how it would be deployed and fled the galaxy into dark space.  The Geth soldiers who fought on earth were actually just VI's loaded into hardware platforms.  Stupid organics wouldn't know the difference anyways;)

It would be a really odd choice if they would go through all the hassle to send us to Andromeda if they don't want to take advantage of the oppotunity to avoid the ME3 ending dilemma (which would necessitate leaving before they happen). But hey, we've seen stranger things happen.

Still, I'll believe it when I see it in the game.

That's demonstrably false. ME1 villainized them, to be sure, but in ME2 they were given depth and shown to be more like organic races than ME1 led us to believe, and then ME3 made them entirely sympathetic at the expense of the Quarians' image.

As others have mentioned, I hope we humans are the invaders of the galaxy. Or at least, allow us renegades (or whatever the system is) to be invaders. Humans invading a completely alien galaxy? Yes please.

They build a ship around the mini relay on illos and it becomes a new fangled drive. It doesn't need a second relay but its accuracy is way off and during the initial test they go way off course into a new galaxy and are lost in space. They correct the errors but it was damaged and can't handle a hop past x distance. So they remain Lost in Space.
