I'm finally replaying Origins, going the route of Arcane Warrior, and I'm wondering if my Warden really needs all the tomes of arcane technique. My strategy is to mostly go with melee combat and sustained spells, and while I know you can quickly switch weapon sets to cast weapon-sheathing spells I don't foresee doing a ton of it just to get the big nuking or control spells off, especially on nightmare with friendly fire. Assuming I get to level cap, I'll already have a point or two more for spells than I need for every spell I think my warden can use. But I don't know if that means using them on Wynne or Morrigan instead is a better option, especially when they come with attribute points. I suppose getting spells earlier is also good. How do you distribute your bonus talent points?

There are some different spells that are really going to need spell points in Awakening and beyond. I wouldn't give any tomes to companions unless you use the duplicate tome trick, and don't have to worry about having a limited number of tomes. Mages aren't going to need the physical tomes that add talents, so that'd be safe for companions to use.

I' assume bonus talent points refers to the Joining and other events where you get points, not tomes. I'll usually have my mage use those for strength, as that's something that can help my shapeshifter mages.
