Level 1's plenty fun, especially when people don't expect you to win. I carried my last templar match that way against Darkspawn on Elven Ruins. Promotes help on that front though.

 

If i see a lv20 in one of my perilous lobbies i'll usually get on the mic and tell them that they can promote its no problem.

This too. I encourage promoting but won't force them to. I don't play in the same party all the time either like some people do, often playing with pugs and lower gear / promote players.

If i see a lv20 in one of my perilous lobbies i'll usually get on the mic and tell them that they can promote its no problem. most of the time(pretty much every time) they feel relieved and promote and tell me the reason they throw in a lv20 first is to gain "respect" and make it okay to promote the next game, they usually say they don't like to come in as lv1s since it more than likely leads to them being kicked. It has been like this pretty much every single time over hundreds of games, the only other exception being people who just don't talk on the mic. Not once have i had a person tell me they don't promote because they "enjoy" lv20s and it makes sense too, anyone who has put a decent amount of hours into this game knows the deal.. you progress in this game by promoting if you are not promoting you are making no progress. That being said i'm not gonna kick someone or make them feel bad for sticking to a lv20, i just like to let people know that its ok to be lv1 in my lobbies.

 

Going to go on record here saying that I enjoy playing a lv20 character as I'm relieved that when I get there I'm effectively taking a small break from the grind, as I get bored of the constantly resetting of my character, if I was to promote every time I hit max level, I'd be promoting after approx 6 matches & to me, that gets a little tiresome.

 

That being said, whether I misinterpreted the message or not, is irrelevant, coming onto this site & making a thread about it about it was an immature thing to do, as I left the match anyway.

 

So thank-you everyone for your posts & sorry for behaving how I have about the whole thing.

It allowed for clarification of what happened, as far as looking at the bright side. People have had an opportunity to see that there is sort of an informal acceptance of promoting mid-session if everyone else is using high enough level characters.

I wish I ran into you once in awhile, I've been in matches where I'm level 19 and carry a group of mid level characters through then after the match promote and that same team of people I took from level 7 to 15 decide to vote for kick. Usually I don't wait for all 3 to happen so if I see a vote to kick I'll leave on my own and go solo threatening if I have to. The only time I've really had a problem with lower levels is when they try to come into a nightmare match half way through with their level 1. If people are running nightmare it's not to grind xp or gold, it's to complete the map and hope for a hakkon drop, you're being a douche by bringing the team down and taking a spot for someone else.

If you absolutely must come in with a low level character (this applies to perilous as well) don't bring your archer when you see a dualist and 2 silent sisters, and don't bring your Avvar when you see a party of rogues and warriors, if you're gonna try to leech bring something to at least help open doors afterwards. If you can't help fight at least make yourself useful other ways. Just like if you're being carried and on FC stage 3 of you stand by the gong spamming "come here" while we are running cleanup you may as well expect a kick right afterwards. If you're being carried you should run up and use a Dragon call before anyone else even has to think about it. Its the only way I will consider carrying on nightmare, if you are at least considerate.
