People play platinum? thats actually shocking. Then again, I never got around to giving it an actual try. I was / am one of the few people that don't like the mixing of factions. When I did play it, I was pugging & those were complete nightmares.

They're all really bad and need carrying. The only real difference is that carrying in Plat is harder with weaker DPS setups due to so much of the enemy composition being armor.
Often the players are even weaker in plat pugs than gold pugs due to UUP being the default search filter setting (so the mode is filled with N7 12 Avenger IV vanilla humans and the like who are there by accident). Conversely, it is also the chosen difficulty for virtually every missile glitcher, and is the only place where I run into them with any frequency.

I see two possibilities :
-You don't have a maxed manifest. People outscoring you simply use better guns and gear. In most cases, in plat it's important to use weapons performing well against armor to contribue significantly ;
-If you have a maxed manifest, then it's a matter of confidence. You don't really feel comfortable in plat yet, so you play too defensively. Just get more hours in this difficulty and you"ll likely come close to the other players' scores at some point.
Also, there's nothing wrong in befrending people on the internet lol.
point 1 yep a some space magic
could help you with that
point 2 nop at all, in my exp. the speed with which you move makes a difference no matter much to be aggressive or defensive you play
point 3 sure, as if you were to find a mexican druglord ñ_ñ

You say you played 255 hours of ME3, which probably means you aren't even close to unlocking all the guns&gear (unless you maliciously™ took care of that already), which is possibly why you can't compete with all the path-of-least-resistance Harrier TGIs and Reegar AIUs that infest Platinum matches.
If you're not equipping a very good gun, you're going to struggle on Platinum thanks to inflated Health/Shield/Barrier/Armor pools and boss spam on most waves.
Big blue&red explosions will only get you so far.

I only PUG Platinum if I'm in a Gold lobby that has played a game or two together and breezed through fairly easily, and the host switches up to Platinum. I usually score pretty well in the Platinum games I have played, but I always use setups that I'm comfortable with and have found to be very effective.

I'll accept total blame for that if you can explain to me what I wrote in in post #7 that justified the dissing of post #8.
haha sry i didn't mean it that all ppl on the internet are horrible or anything, just that i've experienced befriending randoms in an mmo before and it's rather unproductive, as i will absolutely not remember who you are or what brought us together. so ya, i just prefer to play with irl friends what few games they do play.
Yeah, we're not all bad.
By the way, how old is your mom, OP?
late 40s haha. not too good at the shooty shooty, but huge fan of the stories - has like 8 playthroughs of DAO and DA2 and like.. 3? 4? of ME
and thanks for the armor pen advice y'all, didn't really think about that. but anyway i'm running random character/gun combos for challenges atm.. cabal/scorpion? havoc/collector SR? probably shouldn't be doing them on plat in any case but.. yolo?

no actually i've got all characters and all guns but spitfire with most rares maxed and all rare gear maxed (but almost none of the common gear, not sure how i managed that)
but it is true that everyone and their mother (heh) seems to have reegar

maxed manifest is overrated imho. there are lots of guns in the rare category, that are awesome for platinum not just reegar. claymore, graal, kishock, executioner pistol, piranha, acolyte, raider, arc pistol? even the revenant can deal lots of damage. it all comes down to synergy. knowing how to spec the powers on each character with what weapon.

i see you have every weapon unlocked except the spitfire. most of your rare guns are maxed. also every character is unlocked. all weapon mods are unlocked, only some rare weapon mods are not maxed. thats good. now you only need to find out how to make out the best of your weapons and characters, powers. that comes with experience. you only need good builds now, fortunately this forum is full with good builds and videos.

If I had to hazard a guess, I'd suspect you spend most of your time in plat games focused on the bosses. That could explain the score disparity, not that it should matter, or that you should care.

On Platinum, it's much more important to be able to debuff, prime and detonate enemies. That's why you see all the melee Puggernauts failing big time - most of the time. Also it's important to know, how to efficiently deal with certain dangerous enemies, more importantly how to stagger Phantoms, Goons, where to shoot a Praetorian to make it drop on the ground and knock it out of its laser-beam animation. Know the spawn locations of Prime turrets, - which on Platinum can take your whole team down in 3 seconds. You have to know your maps (not just lolGiant) like the back of your hand, so you can dish out DPS, while you're walking backwards, withouth getting caught up on walls, and low cover.
TL;DR: knowledge of game mechanics is much more important on Platinum.

Too add to that^, also know when to use your powers on enemies like crabs, banshees and phantoms. A bubbled up crab is immune to most powers. I think reave is the only one that ignores its bubble.

Answer to that is: all the time. It enables me to double hit and ensures power-based teammates are no threat to my epeen meter.

favorite right now is the fury, though i'm also partial to either vorcha and the warlord, just wish he was immune to sync-kills. i like the shadow's mechanic too, but the primes just don't care. and ofc i love my novaguards, but don't think they're viable much past silver. oh also QI for sniping.

And ya, that may be it - you're right, I don't really care, was just curious why there wasn't a similar disparity at lower levels.

They have all been platinum soloed by some players, they are a bit harder to play than some other kits, but definately totally platinum viable.

well ya, i'm sure they're viable if you play them correctly - i just go in glass cannon and die, because it's not fun being cautious when you can fly around and smash everything

You seem to think that playing them correctly implies being cautious. It's quite the opposite, actually. You're not playing a Novaguard if you're not charging things first, and asking yourself why later ![]()
Being able to do so while still being an asset to the team requires some skill and experience though, yeah ![]()
