I'm not sure Kook can be explained. Kook kind of has to be experienced.

But someone will probably explain him, anyway! xD

Gold is a stage for variety, Plat is a test for patience.

That being said, it's easier to tell if a player is good at this game or not on Plat than Gold. It's not about scores, but how the player manages to navigate through Banshee screams and Prime shots.

It is possible that you are not a kook.  I was merely curious if there was an equivalent term in the gaming community.  I think in ME3 the equivalent term is "pug".

The problem with plat pugging, if you haven't found already, is that every now and then you get stuck in a game where some people have no clue, which means that you basically have to solo/duo several waves in order to extract: this is not fun. That being said, I have played quite a few enjoyable, no mic, plat pugs... but then again there have been at least as many where I was hating life because 2 of the 4 players would get dropped every 30 seconds.

30 seconds? I must be introduced to these PUGs for they can teach me much as my average platinum life is 3 seconds.

To actually "be productive" i can't really help here. I personally don't find the uber cheese spam of boss units or effectively seeing only 3 kits used only to be kicked if you try something else fun hence I dodge platinum.

Yeah, maybe it is closer to 3, lol (been awhile since I pugged plat).

Rest assured, once you have a healthy supply of lvl IV ammo and cyclonics, your platinum life will be extended.  Of course, it is more important to know the in's and out's of gameplay mechanics.  Learn how to stagger different enemies and learn when to/not to attack them.  Learn sync kill mechanics, and how to dodge/shoot when recovering from a revive.  Learn to evade efficiently and develop a flow of transition from one right hand advantage spot to the next.  Obviously learn to quick vault cover, reload cancel, and take hard cover to reduce damage taken... the list goes on forever, lol - but the more you know, the more confident you will be.  Confidence leads to intelligent aggression, intelligent aggression leads to things dying quickly, and things dying quickly leads to you not dying as much.

Well that's the theory anyways.

Agreed. You definitely don't want to be seen camping the lz at extraction, lol.

j/k - In all seriousness, this comment is spot on - being situationally aware of enemy los at all times is key... and perhaps equally important is understanding how to traverse enemy los fields such that the probability of taking damage is minimized.

so you want someone who.. what? knows all about gaming culture and for instance might have a superexpensive pc setup, but has no idea how to actually play games and may ruin the experience for other gamers? i don't think you could find such a person, just because there isn't the same kind of public fascination with gaming - you don't have any reason to know anything about gaming culture unless you are a gamer. the closest i can think of is the 12-year old who begs his parents for the most leet gaming equipment and then goes into CoD and proceeds to tell you what he did with your mom last night.. but we don't have a term for those, we just mute them.

on topic though.. thanks for all the tips, but i haven't actually played ME3 in like 2 months so...

favorite right now is the fury, though i'm also partial to either vorcha and the warlord, just wish he was immune to sync-kills. i like the shadow's mechanic too, but the primes just don't care. and ofc i love my novaguards, but don't think they're viable much past silver. oh also QI for sniping.

And ya, that may be it - you're right, I don't really care, was just curious why there wasn't a similar disparity at lower levels.

Warlord is ok for plat, but you really need to know how to play it. Most players make it a sync kill magnet. I'm specially not a big fan of character.

Fury is awesome. Learn how to navigate trough maps/walls with the teleport ability.

Novaguard is a beast. even on platinum. make your cooldowns to 200%. i recommend executioner pistol or talon as your gun. use nova charge, nova charge. doing right you can take down anything.

You have big guns, why don't you try out some soldier / infiltrator / sentinel builds? turian, krogan, human soldiers are like beasts. also the geth.

I too prefer power spam but sadly the game is a bit biased against power spam. No matter how good powers you have, weapons make the biggest difference. This effect is even more pronounced on platinum where a good gun is a must. It is possible to power spam your way through on lower difficulties but plat becomes a tedium when played that way.

If you can effectively chain combos together, power-spam on plat can still be effective and enjoyable.  Alas, the average PUG is not reliable in this regard.

Weapon spam is always better than power spam on platinum unfortunately...hopefully they balance this in andromeda. Power are fun and unique compared to other games. There are a handful of powers that are the exception to the rule, but obviously not most.

BTW...when are we going to get together for some ACA duo's??
