i've noticed that i do significantly worse than average in plat games than gold. like in gold (and lower) i usually get as many points as everyone else, but plat i get like.. half of what other people get, unless i pick the highest dmg setups i can think of.
so do the best people just play exclusively plats, or am i just bad? (i mean the second one is true regardless, i can barely solo gold with my krogan warlord, and no one else) but still, i'd expect these guys to show up on lower difficulties too...
I don't think it really matters tbh, if your helping your team succeed in plat games then your score hardly matters. DPS is needed, a geth juggernaut is optional but above all that you really want teammates who knows exactly what they're doing, and knows how to take advantage of what kit they're using instead of having pugs desperate for credits to get the URs faster as opposed to a pug starting out from bronze working from the bottom to the top.
I have in the past used kits like the geth engineer or most of the volus characters where it's not as DPS heavy as one of the scarier ones like the GI, QME, Drell adept, turian soldier or a flamer guy and still do decently well or even get 1st place sometimes.
IMO it's all about just getting used to all waves being heavy consisted of boss tier level enemies in your face, say it's like facing wave 10 on gold 11 times in platinum, you don't get those warm up waves in gold where you can relax until wave 3-11, platinum just throws you in expecting you to just match up against a lot of the BS from the get go.
