Do they exist in Thedas? We've got Demons, Dragons, Darkspawn and werewolves. Any sign of the blood suckers?

Yes and no. There was a mention of vampires in a codex — they're another kind of abomination — but they've never been seen in-game and likely never will.

Of course both Wardens and Templars consume a type if blood to get their powers...

I'm hoping that if they appear in game they're designed like monstrous vampires

Hey there is a huge variety of Vampires, that's what makes them popular. Nobles, seducers, necromancers, monsters and anything else you can imagine.

wouldn't make much sense in the DA verse, already dislike the monster version in TW

Yeah, most of those will not be appearing in DA. If you see a vampire in this series, it will be a blood-sucking abomination, not a well-dressed bisexual fop with a funny accent.

Kind of like a hunger demon, no? Draining life. Idk.

Keep them in elder Scrolls.

True. I haven't seen the TW version.

I have seen a decent take of horror vampires in a fantasy setting with the Noble Dead books. They're full but fun.

Would love to see a nice balance between monsterous and intelligent.

Well, there could always be an Orlesian noble possessed by a hunger demon...

And it would be a crazed blood-sucking abomination.

Don't forget the Higher Vampires that can pass off as humans.

Well, we do have Reavers, which are basically sadomasochistic vampire berserker super-soldiers.

I believe Gaider popped into one of these threads once and said that if they ever had the vampires mentioned in the codex show up, they would be monstrous.

Did he mean physically monstrous or monstrous because of their behavior? Probably both.

I believe physically monstrous, but yeah, it would probably be both.

I'd say they'd probably look physically monstrous, so they'd be like if all vampires from Buffy were permanently locked into game-face (such as the Master) or those shark-like vampires from 30 Days of Night.

I'd say that any vampire in Dragon Age would (and preferably should) never be able to pass for human.

Physically monstrous because they count as demons
