A Bioware game about super heroes would be great for a setting

For me steampunk settings will do. I'm missing Bioshock Infinite seriously.

Well, you seem to love Final Fantasy VII, so you're a good person. Midgar was such a neat FF steampunk setting.

Well, FFVII had some steampunk-ish art design, but it was modern setting.

That kind of fantasy-modern setting is actually kinda what I'm expecting at this point.

Steampunk...? I don't think FF VII counts as steampunk. FFVII is clearly Dieselpunk. (So is BioShock, unless you want to call it retro-futuristic Biopunk...)

Steampunk = steam powered technology + Victorian or Wild West design influences. Also, sometimes electricity but used almost like a magical power source (expect to see Tesla involved, or Jules Verne, in that case). Sometimes Lovecraft gets involved here, too.

Dieselpunk = gasoline powered technology + design influences from WWI or WWII, up to the 50s. Or, simplified, military design influences. It is also sometimes used to describe settings like Mad Max.

Or, simplified even more, Art Nouveau vs Art Deco.

Sorry, I have a Master's degree in Design and I teach animation and storytelling, I can't help myself...

You know what I'd love to see?

Something like Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere.  Or even a mishmash of that and Stardust.  You have the real world here, and then you slip through the cracks and there's that other world, and it's both wondrous and horriffic.

But to me that seems like something they'd have done in Shadow Realms.

I'm really not expecting anything at this point, I suppose.  If it's truly contemporary, maybe it really is truly contemporary--no supernatural anything, no science fiction.  Just the modern, real world and problems that could take place within it.  That doesn't mean it has to be boring though.  There are lots of things in the real world that I don't do, but that I consider to be very interesting.

I would like an urban fantasy though.  Not even going to pretend I wouldn't.

Well if he'd explain what type of game it is, I'm sure the community could pitch in with some ideas.

Just trying to help is all...

They should totally release the final spreadsheet when the game is done. It would give us tremendous insight into how the game works.

Still better than not having it.

It may be that I've been watching the Horizon: Zero Dawn trailer basically on repeat lately, but this gives me mad Horizon: Zero Dawn vibes.

Barring that, I am definitely getting a post apocalyptic feel on this thing, something about the settings shown in the E3 tease makes me think along the lines of "something awful and cataclysmic has happened and now humanity is on the brink of extinction". Which I'm not opposed to at all. Exploring abandoned places is right up my alley.

What worries me, though, is the mention of the first person element and the mention of a group scenario. What if that doesn't refer to a party of NPCs but a party in a multiplayer scenario? I suppose if that were a key element of it, it would have been mentioned in the listing specifically. Still. Remaining highly apprehensive about this one until a clarification surfaces.

They might not want everyone to know how exactly they run their company, though. Some companies develop certain practices that they guard well, since it's a huge part of how they attained success.

But the rules of the game - the math that makes the game world work, should be available to us.
