If BioWare makes a third-person superhero game written by David Gaider and Mary Kirby I'll ... I don't know what I'll do. Cry? Die from excitement? Move to Edmonton and spend the next two to three years outside their office holding up a sign that says 'I
YOU GUYS.'

I was right, but it was whisky not vodka ![]()

I'm personally hoping that their new IP is about superheroes.
It can still be a contemporary setting but still have fantastical elements. Imagine playing a character that discovers that they have powers and meet up with other super powered individuals. The plot of the game pushes you and your companions to form a team to stop a major threat.
Sorry....rambling.....miss City of Heroes.
Sign me up for some of that as well.

You mean, Heroes? An RPG like Heroes would be cool (the TV series that is now back as Heroes Reborn)

Jay Watamaniuk @JayWatamaniuk
6yrs ago today I started as a writer at BioWare after 8yrs as Community Manager. That's twice this company took a chance on me. #grateful
We hired you because you showed up to the interview with your spiffy Neverwinter Nights binder that you had hand made!
Jay Watamaniuk @JayWatamaniuk
That binder *was*awesome. Had a sweet dragon silhouette on the cover.

My role in these writing team brainstorms appears to involve me repeatedly saying, "but that's not very sexy, is it?" Works, though.
And now it seems I have to go read Rat Queens. My job is weird.

Here is how the first volume of Rat Queens is described on their official site: "This modern spin on an old school genre is a violent monster-killing epic that is like Buffy meets Tank Girl in a Lord of the Rings world on crack!"
Firstly - awesome job, marketing team. Really. Must have taken a whole afternoon to come up with that little gem of delight (/heavy sarcasm) (the comic book itself does look like something I would read the eff out of and love every second of it, though)
Secondly - With every new tidbit and/or hint that trickles out of this thing, I grow increasingly more confused about what it is. Seriously, WTF IS IT

If anyone can pull it off it's BioWare. I feel BioWare has the best writers in the gaming industry.
The only thing that could bother me is if they over indulge on SJW stuff.

A lot of people are saying no vampires or zombies. I say great writers can make anything work.

I think most of the no Vampire / Zombies is both their current proliferation throughout modern scifi and the fact that many authors romanticize them (Vampire Diaries, True Blood, those books).
Should Bioware go the supernatural route it could work, so long as they don't make Vampires some goody-goody love machines. They should be not evil, but animalistic. They would have less self control than humans and be ruled by base desire more often. Zombies have never been romanticized (to my knowledge), but even so I'm sick of zombies. There are like a dozen movies and shows and games with zombies every year, just give it a rest for a decade. I wouldn't mind seeing Bioware get the rights to World of Darkness (or make their own similar setting), where there are dozens of different types of supernatural beings, each with their own flaws, goals, desires. I loved Vampire: Masquerade, it was an awesome game and a cool setting (vampires were kinda romanticized, but to a much less extent than other works, they never got along with humans, but they did have societies and organizations of their own).

What if vampires and or zombies weren't the focal point? What if they were just characters in largest narrative? Would that relieve the issues of over saturation?
Probably, something like the World of Darkness where there are dozens of types of supernatural entities and although Vampires are typically the PCs there are plenty of stories going on that ignore vampires altogether.
Just like DA has different threads (Mages, Elves, Qunari, Oppression, etc) the WoD has tons of cool stories (Vamps who are divided into different clans, werewolves, magic users of many types, humans who want power, humans who want to destroy all supernatural things).
If the Vampires were just a part of a world rather than the focal point it would make it easier to do.

I not super thrilled by the idea of a superhero game, but I'd give it a chance to change my mind since I love both Dragon Age and Mass Effect.
A modern supernatural ala Dresden files or a steam punk setting both sound more appealing to me.

The gratuitous ass shots of Miranda's skin tight battle jumpsuit disagree.I felt they did an excellent job. I definitely don't think they made sex appeal a priority.
And they actually did say one of the first things they thought of when designing EDI's body in ME3 was "It has to be sexy" *Eyes rolling so hard*

How do people feel about women (and men) who dress like that in real life? I work with a lot of fit people who always dress like that. Always wearing the tightest thing they can find. I don't think twice about it.
Also, should no one look sexy in a video game?
