Also Gaider's asylum reference is definitely a clue, that man is too good at trolling the fanbase. I wonder what he means by it.

Looking at it a bit deeper, the truth becomes clear. His tweet comes directly after the Sharknado post. Now, I'm not saying the next game will definitely involve top-hatted superhero beach vampires taming CGI sharks of the sky. But the evidence sure is piling up, isn't it?

We've still got details to suss out. For example, maybe the sharks are the ones wearing top hats, and live in trailers surrounded by rusty barrels. But I'm confident we're on the right track.

The first few pages of this thread are going to be so funny when we finally know what this new IP actually is. Was it like this before people knew what Mass Effect and Dragon Age were, or did the forums always know that they were space opera and high fantasy?

(I started hanging on the forums in mid-2009, a few months before DAO was released, so while I've been through all the speculation between games, I've never waited to find out what a new setting was about before.)

Can't specifically recall Mass Effect, but we always knew what Dragon Age was.  They announced it VERY early.  2004?  I think?  They used the Neverwinter Nights engine for a 'proof of concept' demo.

I dunno if you had secret psychic powers, but I remember them announcing DA about 2 years before providing any type of real information on it. It was announced before ME released and had a single page on the Bioware site with random info that is not at all indicative of the actual final product. I even recall a very, very early list of potential classes/characters that included a half-dragon that could eventually shift into a full dragon as an ability. There was a lot of time between when we knew Dragon Age was in development and Bioware actually told us what the final version would begin to look like. It was pretty much the same as this thread, with wild theories everywhere and pretty much all of it being 100% wrong.

Sorry, wasn't referring to specifics, just a general "high fantasy" setting. They mentioned elf'like' and dwarf'like' races. Don't remember the dragon thing. It was definitely a span of time between finding out "Dragon Age" and then "Origins".

You're correct that the handful of images bore no relation to the final product, other than the generic setting type.

Was just addressing Andraste Reborns question as it related to "what is the new ip about" and did we know what dragon age was about.

Please no superheroes. If they DO I hope the tone is more Jessica Jones than usual DC/Marvel fare. What I'm saying is: if it involves a costume I'm out.

Part of me thinks a Bioware superhero RPG could be awesome and a lot of fun. Another part of me never wants to see a piece of superhero related media for as long as I live. Put it on ice next to zombies and post-apocalyptic settings for the next twenty years.

Why not? It worked out so well for DC Universe Online, after all :P

Reminder that we have about as much evidence of superheroes as we have evidence of bikini-clad, shark-riding vampires.

Which is to say, enough evidence to be basically ironclad proof. ;)

Those pictures with the shelter on the right side of the screen make me think of Myst.

I certainly wouldn't mind a steampunk adventure :)

I would be really bummed if this turns out to be something like a telltale game.

That ... seems unlikely. BioWare have been making cRPGs exclusivey since Baldur's Gate. It's where all their expertise is, why would they switch to making adventrue games/interactive movies? Even that Sonic thing is an RPG.

What if this turns out to be a MOBA? Thoughts?

What if this turns out to be a MOBA? Thoughts?

Depends on the nature of it.

If its somehow, by far, the most narrative driven MOBA ever, with significant single player and co-op campaigning and just as many character customization and choice options as most RPGs have..

..I'll be at least intrigued.

If its as MOBA as most MOBAs today, then probably pass.

I doubt a MOBA requires so many writers working on it.
