That ... seems unlikely. BioWare have been making cRPGs exclusivey since Baldur's Gate. It's where all their expertise is, why would they switch to making adventrue games/interactive movies? Even that Sonic thing is an RPG.
Mass Effect - 100% shooter action 0% RPG
Mass Effect 2 - 100% shooter action 0% RPG
Mass Effect 3 - 100% shooter action 0% RPG
Jade Empire - 100% action 0% RPG
Dragon Age Inquisition - 100% action 0% RPG
Funny thing is that Sonic was the most RPGy thing aside from DAO they did after NWN and KOTOR, so as of 2011 they no longer make RPGs, only action games
Now if you, like everyone else in these forums, is mistaking STORY for RPG, then yes, their expertize is telling stories, well, not that much, writting a couple of interesting characters per game/IP would be a more accurate statement. In Thedas you have that dozens of boring characters but there is Morrigan, Flemeth, Solas and other FEW interesting characters. Sometimes they tell good stories (DAO, DA2, Jaws of Hakkon, Trespasser) sometimes they are awful (DAI main plot, the entirety of Shepard, with story, lines, background everything [fortunately ME companions are not that boring]).
So Bioware making another action game that you people like calling RPG because you're fond of the story is very likely. Another generic sword branding like Inquisition or shooter like ME or even "everybody was kung fu fighting" like Jade Empire. Of course, the setting will be different but their lack of expertize on the G part of RPG is, again, gonna make it something poor and uninteresting. They should stick to writting novels, I don't like their writting but I understand people in this forum like, so at least they could keep people who like awful things happy by reading their poor writting while keeping the gaming industry free of their awfulness. As much as you love Inquisition you can't in your sane mind tell me that mashing the attack button and occasionally pressing 1~8 (only needed in weak builds, and after last patch there is no point in doing anything other than crafting the prismatic 2h sword or axe and rolling with the warrior skill) is an acceptable gameplay either for RPG or action games.
Bioware have shown everything you can expect from them, they are unable to make games and they will, sometimes, write a great character, and it will always be a companion or NPC, never your character (and never a good main plot). They are unable to make interesting gameplay since 2010 (DAO). And they pretty much try to please everybody because since all they like is writting they make games so that the most people enjoy their stories, aka, something a child can play after losing 99% of their brain. Why think this "new" IP is gonna be something else?
Also expect something incredibly awful because the more original they get, the worse their games get. While they wrote inside DnD and Star Wars universe things were acceptable, kind of good, but then they thought they were good enough to create DA and ME and things went downhill form there, the more they try to be original and infuse their IP with identity the worse they get to the point that they made Inquisition (the Druffalo is the masterpiece, the icon of this awfulness). So something completely original, that unlike DA and ME is not completely immitating DnD and SW/ST while pretending to be original is gonna be a new level of awful because everything not DnD in DA and everything not SW/ST in ME is awful.
While for me this new IP is sure to be unplayable by any standards if you like their previous games and the direction their previous IP went then you are sure to like this new game because if there is one thing Bioware lack above everything it is creativity. I assure you the end result, it doesn't matter if they go sci fi, sports, puzzle, dancing or role playing, gameplay is sure to be boring, main plot (if there is one) sure to be weak and a couple of characters that will make you like the game. As for their world and lore, 5/10 at best, but people will idolize because they like Bioware's failed attempts at "humour", well, in their lack of creativity they excell at references to the good things. After realizing it I understood Bioware should stick to MMOs, this way their boring gameplay fits and their weakness at main plots is excused while they can still "salvage" their writting for companions and NPCs and keep on showing how much they love great things (like DnD and SW/ST) despite not being great themselves.
