Am I the only one who's seeing a bird in this image?

Like that was maybe the original image till someone took MS paint to it and blotted all over the place? lol

 

Its even on a perch/stand! Or perhaps perched on a staff.

 

Honestly, the whole thing looks like an owl to me. Head turned facing us, wings down the back with the tips showing in lower right and with a tail poking down lower right. Feet perched on the lower left. Even the little points at the top left and right make me think of a great horned owl or something.

Jedi have been called magic space monks. Until the prequels established there had been females in their ranks and monk was swapped out for priest.

But another space setting would be an...odd decision.

Perhaps, but sci-fi has a broad range. Despite the space nuns reference, it can have very little to do with space. The original Dune is mostly a story about the spread of religion through a messiah-like figure on a single planet, for example, which makes it feel pretty different from something like Star Wars. Superhero stories are sci-fi as well.
