Anyway, am I the only one who is not excited at the idea of a modern-day RPG? I mean, we don't know that's what it will be, but if it is... I don't know how excited I'll be. I'm looking forward to seeing more though.
Not alone. I'm not exactly a fan of modern-day RPGs... just can't get into them because I really need something fantastical to get my "escape". Post-apocalyptic, medieval fantasy, science fiction... those all get me where I want to be mentally when gaming. It's funny because other than liking Mass Effect, my husband is the total opposite. He likes Payday and Grand Theft Auto and all those types. I tried GTA 4 once and between not liking the controls, not being into the setting, and really not being into my character, that pretty much confirmed what I already knew about my gaming turn-ons.
However, I would not be entirely opposed to a "modern setting" provided it feels... different... enough. For example, I adore the Harry Potter books. That's modern, it's kids growing up in basically a boarding school/university atmosphere and having many of the same issues we all do, but it's got a fantastical setting because of the magic element.
I'm keeping an open mind because, so far, Dragon Age and Mass Effect have been some of my absolute favorite/best gaming experiences of all time. If anyone were to tackle a modern setting that has a snowball's chance of blowing my skirt up, it's BioWare.
Yeah there's like no one left?
I mean who's going to work on DA4, now?
Patrick Weekes. I'm guessing he'll be writing the entire thing by himself.
