Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....
They're all about "story telling"... so I don't think they'd move away from that... more "action-y" sure... tho I think they technically did some of that with ME...

Agreed, though I guess it's just a question of whether BioWare would ever make the jump from the RPG space to a more pure-action (but still story-heavy) game, like Tomb Raider, The Last of Us or Uncharted.
(Obviously, not for ME or DA, unless they were spin-off games.)

ME Andromeda have been called an action game and there is no mention of "RPG" in the last update...

Hmm, it is interesting that they've backed away from the term. I'm actually struggling to find a reference to "RPG" associated with MEA anywhere from BioWare/EA. Same with the New IP and the E3 trailer...

I know its very very long shot, but please be Jade Empire 2.

Apparently the CEO recently said
“And then we have Mass Effect: a whole new Mass Effect story emerging, a fan favorite. As a category role playing games or RPGs continues to grow and break beyond what was the core gamer audience. We’ve seen other games in the category do this, and we believe that Mass Effect will do that.”

Yeah, I remember now reading that comment to their investors over on the ME board yesterday. Though to the consumer (website, videos, official correspondence, etc...) it does seem like they've backed away from using the term.
Maybe they think the term RPG scares away casual players?Yeah, I remember now reading that comment to their investors over on the ME board yesterday. Though to the consumer (website, videos, official correspondence, etc...) it does seem like they've backed away from using the term.
What Awkward Octopus said.
I can't speak for the videogame industry in particular, but in software it's considered pretty normal to work at one place for ~2 years before hopping. And that's for full-time, non-contract positions. Contract, the turnover is more like 6 months to a year. It's just the way that the tech field is.
There's this popular theory (myth?) about the "10x engineer", a developer who has the output of 10 "normal" people. Employers have really bought into this, so they offer completely bananas signing incentives, then pennies when it comes to yearly raises. All the benefits are front-loaded, because they're trying to cast a huge net for that 10x engineer. Then, after blowing all their money at signing time, they can't really afford yearly raises, which hurts long-term retention. But, after some companies started doing it, it turned into an arms race, so now everyone does it.
Among my coworkers, it's common to get cold-emailed multiple times per month with offers $15-20k higher than their current salary. No matter how much people love their current job, the easiest way to get a raise is to move constantly. And future employers look down on people who appear to be lagging in salary. So even if someone is satisfied with their current pay, they have to think about their career.
I'm impressed whenever I work for a software company where any chunk of people have been there for 5+ years. My current workplace has a couple folks (out of about 2,000 total) who have been there 10-15 years, and it's considered a huge anomaly.
Bioware's employee retention record is amazing.
I work as a graphic designer at a local media company. After hitting my year and a half anniversary (two months ago), I started to talk to the veteran employers. Since I didn't hear anything about reviews and raises, I got a little concerned about the future. Do you know what they said? No raises.
According to what I understand, the company only gives raises when 'the price of life' changes. Unless the price of gas, milk, shelter, and transportation changes, the company I work for will never give a raise based upon performance and loyalty. Regardless about how hard I work, I will never-ever get a raise at my current employer.
Did I mention that my employer is a multi-billion dollar national media company? rofl...
Approximately three weeks ago, I started to work on my resume' and portfolio.

Well the funny thing about that is if what they say was actually true you'd be getting a raise pretty well every single year as in most years there is inflation.
Many discussions this week and more to come. My notebook is quickly running out of pages!
BioWare, killing more trees!

After many months lurching around vague ideas...quick, promising progress on an important thing. #victory #secretIP
The more I read the tweets, the more the project looks mysterious ... I hope we will learn something during june at the EA convention, I mean, at least something about what kind of game/story it will be !

Lurching is an interesting verb...
Could the SecretIP be a new take on the Modern Prometheus?
Or an Adams Family rpg!
HA! CONFIRMATION!
HA! CONFIRMATION!
If they are grinning then the press is probably totally wrong in their speculation.
Oooooh! Conspiracy theories!
I was thinking along the lines of that youtube coming out declaring that the new ip was going to be an action game devoid of rpg elements. In the past BioWare does not seem to respond when people are on the right track of things but do seem to toss out nuggets if they think people are on the wrong track so to speak.
