I swear the New IP we're making at BioWare is probably the boldest and most ambitious game I've worked on. #Terrifying #ByeByeSleep

I wish the new IP took place in the South around the time of the American Civil War. It's always pure medieval fantasy or future sci fi... why not make an RPG in the 1800's or something, that's also historically accurate and encourages people to learn more about history?

I'm not at all interested in a historical fiction RPG, honestly, but I'm all for a fictionalization version of such time periods, perhaps meshed with other elements like steampunk.I wish the new IP took place in the South around the time of the American Civil War. I like history, but for me that means I'd spend the entire game compulsively nitpicking historical accuracy.

That would be interesting but it might be difficult without a set protagonist.

I'd be down with that, I am still a fan of victorian England so I'd like that era and location.
I'm going to throw a massive speculate guess out there and say that this is going to be a time travel game and we will be going to many places and times. They've made a few cryptic comments about time.

I tend to feel that Britain was about the dullest place in the world in the 19th century. At least as far as being a setting for a video game. Compared to the revolutions and civil wars that are going on in the rest of europe, or all the colonialism and so forth going on in the rest.

In Britain you've basically got parliamentary reform acts, workhouses and the invention of the safety lamp, in the rest of the world you've got the Paris Commune, Garibaldi and Simon Bolivar.
If you're going to set a game in Britain, go for the 17th century. Or maybe the 13th

@bengelinas @bioware You know, something like that should be on a t-shirt.
Replying to the tweet about the biking Asari sticker. An oblique reference to the GDC shirt incident? *wondering if there's a Secret IP thing on there intensifies*
...or he could just think it would make a nice t-shirt. ![]()

18th Century Britain = Colonial French Indian wars & Revolutionary war/rebellion
Early 19th Century = Napoleanic wars
None of these are boring

None of those take place in Britain.
They involve the British; and they affect Britain politically and economically in a big way. So, as a ripple effect they do take place in Britain.
