It could be first person to be prepared for a rise in VR use and acceptance.
Remember that mainstream VR won't be available until this year and next year, and this game may not happen for a couple more years from now.

But if they do and we get a game that is even better than Dragon age origins, I think it will be worth it.
I would settle for something that is as good as Dragon Age Origins.

You have high hopes.

One of those days where you seem to spend most of your time getting more things to work on then actually working.
That pretty much summed up the day, didn't it?
Oh sweet, there's a cat.
I'm hyped for this game now.

Personally don't care for contemporary settings - Maybe a post-apocalyptic wasteland setting though? That would be interesting.
I do love Wasteland 2 and Fallout, but at the moment I think post-apocalyptic settings are over played. Zombie settings number in the dozens, there are also quite a few post-nuclear war settings, and there a few other variations. I'd prefer something a bit more original. Contemporary isn't necessarily original but it has more potential for it than post-apocalyptic settings (imo). We'll see what they come up with though.
Now that I think on it a post-apocalyptic setting where something non-tradional happened (maybe 80% of the population disappeared mysteriously, or a virus killed a bunch of people (without creating zombies), or aliens came to earth **** happened and then they left) could work. But the generic zombie or nuclear wasteland is overplayed imo.

I agree. I have contemporary every day. Post-apocalyptic would be something new, and interesting indeed.

I feel like post-apocalyptica will continue to be missing something so long as BioWare does not draft a distinctly BioWarian approach to it. I'm not into the zombie scene per se, nor am I the biggest fan of Bethesda's storytelling style or even the 1950s-meets-doomsday concepts behind Fallout. But I take some of these things in stride because I am a fan of the idea of seeing the last of humanity redefine what it means to be human against bitter odds. That's something BioWare hasn't quite tapped into before, and I'd love to see them try.
That written, I am not currently under the impression that it's what we'll be getting. I think a near-Earth sort of setting, or a genuine Earth for that matter, is more possible. Familiar trappings will decorate a plot filled with deeper-than-average characters, all of whom share a unique destiny. Perhaps a power has awakened within them? Perhaps a corrupt world organization has forced them all into hiding? Who's to say? But when I think "contemporary" this is often what springs to mind for me.

This is what I am personally hoping for. Familiar, but not our world. Something in the vein of Neal Stephenson's Anathem.

How about a steampunk setting? I could see that as a good setting for a Bioware RPG.
Steampunk never seems to be as popular as people want it to be.How about a steampunk setting? I could see that as a good setting for a Bioware RPG.

Has there ever been a really successful steampunk game?
The closest I can think of is Bioshock Infinite, but that's stretching the definitions quite a bit.
If Arcanum had come out 10 years earlier, when the market for games was still 90% nerd (I miss those days), it probably would have been a huge hit.The closest I can think of is Bioshock Infinite, but that's stretching the definitions quite a bit.

All the more reason for a high profile company like Bioware, with a dedicated fanbase, to take a swing at making a great RPG in such a setting. Just look the interest in Cyberpunk 2077 after a single teaser; I'd say that's largely to do with CDProject making a game in that setting, rather than the setting itself.

Attempting to come up a with a name for our new IP = Instant brain fart.
Ahaha. They haven't actually named it yet?
Maybe they should let us do it, like fans did with Thedas back in the day. (Although that would involve telling us what it's about, unless they want us to give it a wildly inappropriate name ...)
It could just be his phrasing leading us to think that, to be fair. That's what I thought at first -- that they have yet to name the IP -- but then I realized, it's likely he's naming someone/something within the new IP. ![]()
Well Mass Effect didn't have a set name until way into development. Apparently they were really stumped for awhile.Ahaha. They haven't actually named it yet?

I read that the new IP was dead, unless they are working on a brand new one, they were working on that game Shadow Realms but I've read it was cancelled.
