So, this topic is pretty much about the new Andromeda and the trilogy. Bioware has already announced that the Trilogy characters will not be in Andromeda, so really I'm complaining of why. The new mysterious character shown in the trailer and images of Mass Effect Andromeda is obviously human, also in the N7 program. So stuff me full of WHAT THE HELL !!! But my problem is how did the N7 program, and the mako come in this absolutely new universe?? Call me crazy, but I want an answer.

The Alliance went exploring, Shepard wasn't invited.

If you have no problems with humans, why do you have problems with that? It's not like colonists could leave most recognizable Bioware merchandise behind.

I don't get why this of all things is so confusing. You think the colonists heading for Andromeda just decided to go naked? Or that they'd just walk everywhere once they arrived? Obviously they'd bring their armors, vehicles and whatnot with them.

Yes, dev's have stated no major characters would return.  They didn't mention anything about minor characters (however, I don't see them making an appearance either).

I don't see how this is confusing.  When you pack for a trip, you bring your clothes, phone charger, toothbrush, etc.  Why would they up and leave and not bring the majority of their technology with them?

Maybe it is just me, but what i understood is that the game is set in another portion of the galaxy, not in a brand new universe.....So the races, capital planets, and governments are still the same

1) Not a new universe.  Same universe (literally and fictionally).  Different GALAXY.

2) You'll get answers when BioWare gives them.  Until then? Speculation for EVERYONE!!!

It is set in the same universe, just a different galaxy.

Andromeda, the nearest spiral galaxy to the Milky Way, is 2.5 million light years from Earth.

This is the Mass Effect version of the Milky Way galaxy.  Our solar system (consisting of 8 planets, a sun, and Pluto...lol) is located in the bottom left (Local Cluster).

The Milky Way is over 100,000 light years across (or 590,000,000,000,000,000 miles), edge to edge on the map.  That literally means it takes over 100,000 years for light on one side of the galaxy to reach the other side. Inside of our Solar System, the distance from the Sun to Neptune is 14.5 million kilometers (or over 9 million miles).

Andromeda is another "Milky Way" and light from Earth would take over 2.5 million years to reach it and vice versa.

That's at the speed of light.  If you look at reapers, they could go 30 light years in a day.  So that means using their tech, explorers could reach Andromeda in 228-230 years.

So, are we dispatched by Alliance or the Council? Are we colonists escaping the destruction of the Reapers or an expedition force sent by Alliance/Council?

Or do we even know any plot details yet?

I think they said Andromeda takes place long after the heroic acts of Commander Sheperd, so im thinking at least 500 years after the Reaper War. In that time maybe the Citadel Council thinks it may be a good idea to begin colonizing in Andromeda. Technology may have advanced enough to make a ship travel to Andromeda quicker than FTL but without using a Mass Relay since the Reapers most likely didn't build them in Andromeda. Maybe they take plans with them to build a Mass Relay that would connect to Milky Way.

Personally I would like to see a cameo or mention of old characters. I think Matriarch T'Soni would be pretty interesting.

I think it would be the council if there are Krogan and Asari in Andromeda. I think they mentioned Krogan ships in Andromeda's leaked info.

Ahh, I see. I'm currently running through the ME series again. Never beat ME 3, so I was not sure if ME 3 ending gave us any direction on MEA setting

Unfortunately the only details we've been given so far is that it is set in Andromeda and that Commander Shepard won't be returning. Beyond that, Bioware hasn't said a word. There are a couple rumored leaks that now appear they might be legit however. Here are the links if you want to take a peak...

2014 Rumored Leak Details

Grain of salt, of course.

Sounds very interesting - Though the Strike Team just sounds like a copy/paste of DAI's Wartable. I would prefer to defend those colonies with my own squad or have more control/choice over how the mission goes.

Wonder if any of that info will hold true

Asari councilor alludes to "other plans" while speaking to Shepard in ME3. There's a lot of speculation out there that when you put this fact together with the ARKCON tweet and you have enough to speculate to your hearts content. Presumably the council races came up with a contingency plan to evacuate a number of "specimens" from the major races and create a flotilla of ships that were sent out to Andromeda during ME3's time frame. This flotilla or part of it is the Pathfinder Initiative, of which we are at the head of. Since it takes 200-300 years to get to Andromeda (takes place long after original trilogy), one assumes that the technology from the Protheans stasis pods may have been reused to allow the people in the ships to make it there alive. This also allows BW to ignore a canon ending of ME3. Shepard isn't there because he's busy fighting the Reapers.

I did not come up with this theory btw. It's easy to find all kinds of theory on various forums out there but this is the one that I like best of all the ones I've seen.

This discussion between a "fan" and Aaryn Flynn on NeoGAF is quite revealing to me: Post.

It's because of the ending, you could 'choose' the ending so if someone chose synthesis why does no one have green circuit board skin? If someone chose control where did the reapers go? This is would mean destroy is the only true canon so that's why they're trying to avoid direct contact with the trilogy.
