Hey guys!

I've Finished Inquisition on Hard mode although I had to reduce difficulty once to medium to beat the last high dragon.

I'm currently playing the Descent DLC and have serious problem with the game. Cannot get pas the two ogres at all. Most fights I have me and team practically deals next to no damage. I admit ive tried lowering the difficulty to lowest but still nothing, everyone dies and enemies receive almost no damage!

What to do ? I play on Warrior 2H

More info could be useful. What is the Inq level? Who is in the party?

im level 27, team is lvl 26. vivienne with her healing ultimate skill , cassandra and dorian. but i didnt care much for builds etc i just specced randomly, oh this skill seems nice, unlocked lol

im running a 2h warrior templar (had no issues with main game and hakkon). the specialiyt allows for self combo chain that deals up to 12k critical damage and 6-8 normal (everything in AOE). but it has no effect on those ogres and emmisarries!! i have finished the game on hard, although for last high dragon i had to reduce it down to medium. but that fight is too hard even on low difficulty. just 2 milimiters of their health dissapears and its my strongest attack :( ill post some screens as soon as im back home.

i apologise for not posting any!

I recommend setting defensive Tactics to Preferred (eg; Barrier, Stealth, Guard abilities), but disable Fade Step, Leaping Shot, Charging Bull and other large movement abilities; use these manually if needed.

Behavior: Try setting Mana/ Stamina and Potion use to 20% or less, and Follow to themselves on all characters.

Use Fire Resist items and effects; consider crafting some if none available.

Vivienne: disable Spirit Blade and keep her back with Dorian; use this ability manually if they get close. Turn this on if she gets cornered with several. Be sure both have upgraded Barrier, and Guard creating robes and/ or staves can be helpful.

Party: try and set up combinations if possible (eg; Static Cage, Winter's Breath, sleep for Rogues, stun for Warriors). Also having a greater chance to Crit and greater Crit damage is helpful. Carry more Bee's.

Hope this helps!

With 2 mages, just be sure to keep them back and have them alternate casting barriers. You may have to do it manually with the tac cam. If you combine that with masterwork that allows your melee fighters to gain guard on hit, you should be fine... Heck throw that masterwork on your mages too! Try to focus on one ogre at a time and attempt to position your fighters where they're not stuck in between both of them.

I made the mistake of playing that part on a lower level. Spent most of my time running out of the fight and gathering the scattered supply caches before returning to kill them. The respawning emissaries and genlocks drove me mad!

Dorian's fire spells were my best advantage and Solas kept everyone protected with Barrier. Make sure you have Barrier and Dispel. Dispel will help you quickly take down the emissaries and Barrier will keep you from taking hits as you try and cut down the duo. I also had Dorian's Necromancer spells unlocked and he revived one of the dead Ogre's who helped kill the remaining one.

It helps a lot to take this fight on with proper armor on Cassandra (whom I take it is sword and shield). Don't hesitate to equip her with the highest armor value (300ish, or even 330ish if you can spare a 10% masterwork), helm value (50ish) and shield value (60ish) in your arsenal. Forget every stat but armor if you must, just make sure she's got the goods. The reason is, the punches deal a TON more damage sometimes so any delay in interruptions will force her to drink a potion. When it comes to Cassandra builds, make sure she has all the passive Armor bonuses and most of the Ogre attacks won't even scratch her.

Put Inky on Emissary camping duty. That's Inky's only duty in life for this fight: kill Emissaries, one after the other. Emissaries must not be shooting fire at Cassandra from behind when she's being grabbed, this kills the Cassandra. Since Barrier damage ignores Cassandra's armor, the Ogres are going to destroy her barrier leaving her vulnerable to Emissary fire, which will destroy her guard, leaving her vulnerable to Ogre punches, in a deadly cycle of death.

Emissaries have three attacks: shoot one bolt, shoot many bolts and shoot one super bolt. One bolt is cool. It can be tanked or avoided. "Many bolts" must be tanked and barriered/healed/guarded through (or you can try to hide behind a pillar if you're ranged). One Super Bolt has a charging animation where he charges up its Kamehameha, you need to move out of the way (roll behind him or charge through him), or suffer 120ish fire damage at maximum fire resists. It has only a short range, but it's another reason why Emissaries are bad news. On the plus side, as a Two Handed Templar, your Inquisitor is born to kill Emissaries - I doubt many classes can take them out as quickly and safely as you.

Also, there should only be one emissary at a time during this phase, so kill both emissaries outside before you go in, the other is probably a leftover from the previous phase and should not respawn.

So almost all barriers should go to Inky, Inky should solo kill Emissaries, and mages should simply grind down the Ogres and interrupt them when they grab Cassie. Ogres are immune to pretty much all status effects and they are greatly resistant to spirit, but walking bomb explosions still stun them during their punches, so Dorian can and should keep this one up on them, or even better, on the genlocks around them, because you never know, but otherwise, forget about spirit damage. You should probably equip another staff, if either Vivienne and Dorian are using spirit damage.

Once you're done with the Ogres, the true attrition fight begins, wher- oh nevermind you have two templars and two mages. Always dispel the large fire AOE debuff and you should be fine. Remember to finish the last Emissary after the Ogres before taking on the final boss.

Lastly, pro tip: you can run back to the entrance of the area (with the fires), get out of combat, change your inventory and even respec your build there, if needed.

1. Cast Barrier. 2. Roll face all over the controller til the fight is done. This is how you beat most fights in the game.

I beat the descent on hard just by attacking everyone or thing and didnt die once(me and companions) imo hack and slash works best for the descent dlc(sad really.... i had to play DA:O after to get away from the hack and slash) and IB as a S&D reaver has worked very nice for me(really the only tactical move i made lol)

lol well thank you all for posts :D

i fixed my builds and discovered that gear my team used was way too low lvl (14 gear on 26 tam? xD). after fixing that i managed to beat those ogres in no time and the final boss was way too easy.

Thank you guys! :)

Inquisitor sends thx from inside the Titan ;D (too bad that origin forces me to play on specific language without allowing me to pick one manually!)
