what races do you expect we will see in andromeda? and will it make sense to have them?

in the trailer we saw what looks like a krogan, a female one! so thats interesting.. i wonder if they evolved or something.. in the prototype video, i think the krogan we saw is...different. at least thats what my eyes saw xD

also i dont think the quarians or the geth would make an appearance :/ but i do believe that the asari will be.

salarians/turians i dont know, i dont think its mass effect without them, at least to me :/

hanar./volus, i dont think so. and thats okay, i'm curious as how they will approach this, the sky is the limit when in a NEW GALAXY! but i would be a little sad if we didnt have the ones we loved in the original trilogy.

You should check some tweets because some of those "maybes" have in fact been soft confirmed, and I'm not talking about the conceptual work-ups done for the marketing campaign.

Warning: Off-topic tangent incoming.

I'm sure that some of the old races will make an appearance, but I don't have any expectations on which ones right now. I think it depends on when MEA takes place--or rather, when the natives from the Milky Way galaxy left it to explore. I'm curious to see if, and how, Bioware plays around with the vast amount of time it takes to space travel as the mass relays prevented that from being a big thing in the original trilogy. I'd like more science and astronomy and, just, space in Andromeda! I'd like to revisit that sense of wonder and mystery from the original Mass Effect.

Back on topic, I'm fond of most of the old races, but I'd be really sad if the asari didn't return. What am I going to do without my awesome blue ladies?

Touchè.

Apart of me really hopes that all of the races from the original trilogy is going to make a comeback. I would probably throw my monitor out the window if the Asari didn't return

I suspect our new squad and crew on the tempest will probably reflect this, maybe having one of each race while all the other NPCs we interact with inhabiting Andromeda will be new. But to be honest, the ones that I only really gravitated to were the Asari, Turians, Salrian, and Krogan. Maybe Quarians too.

I'm getting pretty excited for Andromeda - being in a totally unknown, new galaxy definitely brings it that frontier, colonial aesthetic. How Bioware is going to brand that into Mass Effect will be exciting to discover :)

I'm one of those boring people who dislikes speculating without information and facts, but I'll try...

If the reason for leaving the Milky Way was a kind of "Noah's Ark" mission from the Reapers then I could easily see most of the major Citadel races making a reappearance. That would be the asari, salarians, turians and, of course, the humans. It'd probably include the krogan too, and maybe the quarians.

I'm fond of the Noah's Ark theory because it'd be a way to start fresh, completely fresh, but also have a strong connection to the original trilogy that doesn't change depending on the choices you made. Whether or not the theory has any kind of merit, I have to believe that the races native to the MWG left before the end of the Reaper war. I'm having trouble imagining ways the writers could address all the different endings without being totally cheap about it. I personally didn't kill Leliana in DAO, but I can understand the frustration those who did had when she popped up again in DA2 and DAI with very little explanation. Let's not do something like that again.

I'm excited too! I can't wait to see what they have planned. And as much as I love the old races, I'm looking forward to meeting the new ones. (As long as it's with blue ladies by my side, of course...)

I really want all the old races/species to turn up. I'm pretty attached to them. They all enrich the 'verse a little more by being there.

Hopefully there will be a way for them all to be included, especially if we go on some kind of Exodus ship before the end of ME3.

Same here, the setting looses a lot of it's spark when we get rid of the various aliens that make up the universe.

My personal preference would of course be the Rachni, but I would also like to see the Elcor, Hanar, Volus, and Batarians make the trip as well.

There are several lore, storytelling and game-design reasons preventing that every race will return and I'm kinda ok with that. Hanars, elcors and voluses started as somewhat secondary races with their own societies, problems and goals, but then they simply 'fell off' the game and became some prolonged agonizing joke. For one simple reason - they didn't fit in combat system. And when they don't the way to party membership and recognition is closed to them. I just hope Bioware learnt from this mistake.

What am I going to do without my awesome blue ladies?

Start searching for green ladies. They will require more points though.

I'd probably be fine with the Rachni and Geth being left out, but I would like as many races as possible to keep options open for the future of the series. Even the Rachni and Geth could be made to make sense for the expedition(Rachni drones as a workforce to build settlements, Geth programs used to maximize efficiency and Geth platforms used to explore toxic/dangerous environments). Give yourselves options, BioWare.

Just finished reading Mass Effect: Ascension. At the end of the book (no plot spoilers don't worry), the Quarians send a small group of ships on an exploratory mission to an unknown galaxy through a recently discovered mass relay. Their mission was to look for new habitable planets.

What are the odds we'll actually be able to play as Quarians? Or at least encounter them.

Play as Quarians? Zero. Already confirmed.
Encounter them? Very high, I'd say. They're a very popular race and BioWare knows it.

I guess I am breaking some sort of rule by mentioning the race we all want in Andromeda, and probably are taking for granted that they will be in Andromeda because of their ridiculous popularity, but I will name them anyway. Protheans. I could go on about how awesome they are and why I would love to see them in Andromeda but I would just be preaching to the converted right.

Now that I have got the obvious one out of the way. I wouldn't mind seeing Geth in Andromeda. It makes sense for them to be there. Or at least another race of machines. If I am going to a new galaxy I am going to want to take as many different forms of life as I can.

I'm actually more curious as to how thry will handle the Krogan. They will depart before the genophage is cured? Then it will have the same problems than before? (unless these krogans are more "evolved" and don't think they are ruined because of their birthrate). If it's the other way around, then you have the problem with overpopulation and all that jazz from the Krogan Rebellions.

I personally hope that however you end up in Andromeda that you have contingent's from all the major races (and perhaps some minor ones)

In my opinion. I tend to believe that whatever vessel you use to get to Andromeda will act as some kind of "Hub" basically like a 1/20th size citadel for example. It'll have all the races (albeit in smaller numbers) on board and you can always travel back to it. That would allow for all of the "old" races to be there. But it would keep them compartmentalized to a certain degree and allow for you to go out and meet all new races of beings.

Whatever new race they going to introduce, it does not have to be Near-Human or Humanoids, almost half of the aliens in Star Wars/Star Trek were humans with some makeups. This game need to be different.

All the Milky Way species need to show up again.

We're already abandoning pretty much everything else, so at least let all the races continue to be in the MEU.

i would like too... but some species, like the hanar/volus, i mean... i dont think they will be much of importance in andromeda. i'd rather have the one's we love, and maybe create new ones?

the sky's the limit. i think going to andromeda will bring that fresh-ness again. but also improving on the old ones... plus that frostbite engine! i really hope we see the asari/turians etc.. in that engine!

i have a feeling that only the 'council' species will make a return... and i dont mind that really. i cant see a mass effect without a turian and an asari, personally

I love all the races in the Mass Effect universe, so...

I'm sure they will have new ones, even if they bring all the Milky Way ones along. Be weird to be in a lifeless galaxy.

i really like javik, and i liked the protheans as a species and most importantly as a culture. they were in a different time, their prespective is different. but i'm concerned as how are they going to come back? javik is the only living prothean we know. i dont know how bioware will make sense of this if they decide to bring them back...

plus regarding the geth, my only problem with that is that their existant is pending. you can kill either of them in ME3, that would be difficult to explain, unless they do like a ''dragon age keep'' kind of thing were you import your save, BUT if they did not, i dont it will make sense because some of us wiped out the geth completely. also the quarians the same thing.

Actually, it is canon that regardless of the decision on Rannoch there are surviving Geth and Quarians who are allies with the rest of the galaxy.

to be honest, the ONLY 2 species that i'm 100% that they will come back are :

1- krogans. we saw a female in the teaser trailer and other videos. but ar ethey the same krogans we know? i dont know. but they are back

2- asari. because they live longest out of all the species, plus they are WILDLY popular, and i dont think a mas effect game should be without them.

plus i do believe that we will meet more new species than we would expect.
