I was most disturbed that they haven't greenlit DA4.

Laidlaw said as much as he hope for future installments to the franchise he cannot confirm it , beside Ea will have the last word in the matter , if they decided to pull off the plug , there isn't much BW can do.

Depends if the story of any future Dragon Age games is worth putting money into.

Am not one to foresee what Ea will do, they work in the most mysterious way.

They are a business who wants to make the most amount of profit. Think along the lines of making money :P. If the story sounds like shite to the producers then it will have to be sent back for rewrites until it is going to make money.

Mmm. Yah know I jokingly mentioned that the forum restructuring was maybe a symptom of EA ramping down Bioware's budget/getting ready to take them behind the shed but maybe that's for srs? It's very odd that they wouldn't have greenlit the next DA game, it's one of Bioware's flagship titles. And with the guy who made it being sent off to work on something new? Curious indeed.

I'd be very, very disappointed if there were no more DAs. The story is so not done yet. We need at least one more game.

Ironic that it was leaked by the Spanish Inquisition team.  No one expected that, I guess.

I hope that wasn't a problem.

Did anyone else feel like it reminded them of Shepard antagonizing the council?

Given the fact that they are working on a new IP and Mass Effect, the resources of the studios are currently focused on those games. Even if it was greenlit, it would be months or years before the actual product takes off from the beginning stage. Maybe they will finish with this DLC, let it resonate with fans..then in months to come, they might give us some info on the future of the franchise.

If that was the case, EA would have greenlit another sequel in a heartbeat.

The DA team worked on the DLCs for the last year. A publisher won't greenlight a game without a convincing pitch and presentation. Who knows how much they have to produce for an established franchise before they can start pre-production.

Besides, Bioware is probably not big enough to develop three AAA-games and support SWotR at the same time. They should let DA rest for a few years.

My next playthrough is going to be on next(=current) gen and like I wasn't enough excited about that already!

I think my heart beat a bit faster whilst watching the trailer. Embarrassing maybe but so rewarding feeling.

I'm just stuck on the fact that we're expected to pay for what is essentially the epilogue... paying actual money for the game's ending.......

Epilogue sounds like the most interesting DLC we could get. I wouldn't support turning games into all micropayments or one-chapter-at-a-time cases like a Dickens novel, and the game itself should work as a standalone story, but if there's room for a sequel and it is possible to release one (especially without having to wait for the next game) then please! I'm really enjoying the idea of seeing some long-term writing with the characters and the situation, before (edit: possibly/hopefully) moving again to the new start with new characters and new perspective. I don't mind paying for it, it's cheaper than new whole game, and it's something I'd love to play. Story DLC is much more inspiring to pay than a version of a game you own already. I think it can add to the fun that you have to wait for a bit -I think at least in Inquisition's case this seems like nice pacing.

You don't know whether that line is autodialogue or a choice.

I hope it's a choice... no matter how great a scene is, it feels greater when you think you initiated it. But like you said we'll see.

I wonder if we'll concentrate a lot on talking and puzzles and stuff, since the level cap is there. I wouldn't mind since I'm not the biggest fighter around. Though maybe there'll be the boss battle (or the enemy horde attack...) you were gaining your levels for. Haha, I was't into respawning enemies, but somehow am enthusiastic thinking they're going to end once I'll finish this DLC.

I'm guessing this won't be the last DA, Laidlaw said in the panel yesterday it was their fastest selling game in BW's history and has been a critical succes.

They are finishing with this dlc , and yes whatever is the case it's going to take a lot of time to know if their will be another DA game , maybe if we're lucky we'll have KOTOR sequel too if not by BW be it someone else before heading again to DA.

I just don't trust Ea really.

Looks awesome!

I agree with the people saying that anyone who actually believed in a long term alliance with the Qunari were kidding themselves, it was obvious that they considered the Inquisitor the lesser of two evils and that it was a temporary thing. And I'm looking forward to reassembling the gang again.

Also: Pajama wardrobe in an upcoming patch? Hell yeah!

I know I'm supposed to be excited as a story fan and a huge Solas fan, but I'm worried.

I'm seeing another war, I'm seeing myself shoehorned into the Inquisitor's role - it means my Lavellan wasn't allowed to go away after saving the world, she was chained to the Inquisition (which is indeed becoming dangerous, maybe even tyrannical).

I'm seeing Qunari, and some absolutely abstract war.

And I'm afraid that if I'm getting Solas, it will be one conversation in the very end, aka Morrigan's Witch Hunt, or one Ameridan conversation.

And it's the last story DLC - that's it, no more Solas and the Inquisitor. One scene, one or two romance-related phrases - and it will be over forever.

Sigh.

I know seriously she was all like I sent word to my tailors in Val Royeaux for when she becomes Divine and she wears that ridiculous looking sack again.

A small group works on DLC, not the entire team. Pre production of a game involves writing and concept art. That's what they would have been doing 1-2 months prior to DAI's release, and shortly after before entering full production. The fact that it's been almost a year and Laidlaw says they haven't been greenlit doesn't bode well.

I was under the impression that the original ME team was handling the new IP, while the ME3 multiplayer team was handling ME:A? I doubt Bioware is shifting more people to SWTOR, though that would be a welcome move as most of the current staff is abysmal.

They already said Solas isn't being wrapped up in this DLC, so he will be seen in the future. The inquisitor on the other hand - they are not likely to change their formula for new protagonists with each title. Flemmeth spanned 3 games, I have a feeling Solas will play a similar role behind the scenes.

That date, September 8, is it confirmed anywhere? Mike does not give any dates in his official post. Probably Xbox\PS4 users have it mentioned in their stores?

The old Bioware forums looked like they were made in the 90s. We are in 2015, I think it's time for better forums for Bioware >.>. How would making different forums suggest Bioware has less budget? These forums are a VAST improvement.

That's... not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about them consolidating a lot of forums and closing OT almost as if suddenly they're trying to save some money on server costs.
