BW got their knickers all in a bunch because they didnt like having to consider people's choices with the HoF and DA2 endings.

Schroedingering protagonists in a long-running franchise is a bad idea: sooner or later, they'll have the prune the story branches, and that means killing the HoF for good and having Hawke either surviving the Fade or dying after Weishaupt.

After watching this trailer, most of the scene reminded me of the Envy(or Nightmare) Demon if per say it did happen to take over your body.

Was thinking the same thing.

And at least it's better than DA2 where we never got the chance to pay for the ending.

Oh but you paid for the ending: you paid

Damn looks pretty solid. Guess I'm gonna have to work through my open world fatigue and get my current character to the end.

This isn't the first time the Inquisitor's hand tried to kill them.

Well, the final DLC is going to add some sort of challenging new optional gameplay mode.

As to what that actually means, hopefully we'll know more after tonight's presentation.

I don't think NG+ would be worthwhile, given that the treasure pool is static. Even if BioWare just made enemies scale up to max level, there's not going to be any payoff from it.

It's just one way to have fun (which I tend to enjoy a great deal, in most cases). But, that's not happening, though we are getting a slight version of NG+ (not the kind I'd care for, but it's something at least). A golden nug statue is going to be added to Skyhold with the next patch, but you must complete the main story first in order for it to appear. Once you've done that, it will allow you to upload all of the schematics acquired on the character you're playing as to the DA servers (to my understanding). Once you've done that, you can access those schematics on any character. You can also add new schematics after the fact later on.

Indeed, the trailer could easily pass for DA 4 or a new stand alone Dragon Age game. I hope so much it lives up to the hype and restores some respect the series so rightly deserves and in my humble opinion has earned!

Question is will the hand be more of a threat to the Inquisitor? It was alot of focus on using the breach power.

I'm just stuck on the fact that we're expected to pay for what is essentially the epilogue... paying actual money for the game's ending.......

Ah the eternal complaining of the BSN:

- People complain that they want Post game DLC

Bioware makes Post game DLC

- People complain that they made post game DLC.

I actually really liked the trailer as it almost seemed, for me, be all that DAI was not. Really tight story focus which aims to challenge the character from outside questions. One of the things that drove me nuts at the end of DAI was how happy everyone was that there was a military running around without anykind of oversight or allegiance to anyone except their leader. Those things rarely end well. I'm just hoping they manage to keep the Qunari on the level they were in DA2 and I will be happy with them.

Funnily, one of the other highlights for me was that when the Inquisitor was giving her speech, the VA was actually stressing the emotion in it instead of keeping things somewhat neutral. I really hope that is an indication how they approach dialogue in general in the game.

Yeah, this in a nutshell. In the core game, you can have Inquisition troops effectively running roughshod over the territory of sovereign nations, if not outright occupying their lands, and no one utters the least bit of protest (the Verchiel March comes to mind). It didn't make the least bit of sense or feel true to the setting, especially considering all the work we had to do to get anything done in Origins.

Having DA2-quality Qunari would be awesome too.

Good ridance! Now they can put DAI behind them and atone for the mistakes made with DAI with DA4.

We said that about DA2 and DAI.

Well I'm happy that the Qunari are coming back. Even if thedas isn't. Always thought that something would come out of it since killing the Arishok in DA2....

and.. damn this dlc is out the day before my classes start... probably won't finish in time!

Right thread.

In terms of structure, is it like the Jaws of Hakkon DLC, which gives you another large area to explore freely? Or is it more focused?

It’s much more narrative in the way it flows. There’s clear goals, clear next steps to take, and it’s much higher in cinematic presentation than Hakkon was. We look at the feedback, and that’s something people have been looking for – something dealing more directly with the followers. We’ve had this cooking for quite a while; it was coming, and we knew this was there. Hakkon was a chance to refine some of what we learned about exploration, and The Descent was an opportunity for us to work more closely with the Austin team to make more of a dungeon crawl. This one is the more narrative heavy of the three.

Music to my ears! :)

In two words or less? #^@& that.

Seriously, I don't understand why they would feel the need to get rid of their previous player characters, when there are still plenty more great stories they can tell with them. I wouldn't mind if they just left Hawke and the Warden doing their own thing outside of the context of a specific game, because then, at the very least, they could always pull them out as needed. It's kinda like the Marvel Universe in a way: there's always a stable of B- or C-list characters they can employ for a story or two, or bring back into focus, so why kill off people and thus reduce the storytelling potential if they don't have to? If they're not using a character, then fine, they're not using them. It's just very shortsighted to kill them off out of spite.

Don't see what you're complaining about. Alex Wilton-Regan voiced the Inquisitor the best, and actually made her dialogue somewhat engaging, so I don't mind hearing more of her at all. Not everything is an SJW plot; women can succeed on their own talents, you know.
