As the new DLC has been announced and looks AMAZZZING. Is it worth getting the descent and playing that first?
Also what lvl is it aimed at? my 2 characters i'd play it on are OP from JoH

The Descent is alright , depends how much you like the DeepRoads. Also new Lore!
You can start the descent around lvl 12 after you get Skyhold but I wouldn't recommend that, you get some revelation a bit clashing with stuff happening in the main game.
So your Inquisitor learn about Y in descent , but then in vanilla game if someone talk about Y , you still look absolutly clueless.
Anyway the cap level is 27 , so if you're not already 27 after JoH , you might get to the cap with Descent.
The new DLC "Trespasser" is post campaign , once you play it there's no coming back.End of the Story. You could always start descent on an ancient save though...

The shop in camp can help add gold to the coffers, a reason to try and get it established early.

Well, if you like dungeon crawls with very little companion banter, combat where the only real differences, other than appearance, are a crap load of extra health and immunities, and a weak story with an ending that asks more questions than it answers, (the inquisitor even mentions this at one point) then yes.
The only really good things I can say about it was some of the areas were incredibly beautiful and unique, and the two dwarf characters you meet are interesting. Other than that, I found it not worth the price.

I would say yes it's worth it. It's not the most amazing thing that ever happened to the Dragon Age series, but it's an entertaining few hours that will tide you over till the new DLC.

If you like Inquisition's combat and/or Dwarves lore, then yes it is worth it. Otherwise, no and just watch it on youtube. Party banter and story suffer in this DLC, it's also less content than Jaws of Hakkon so keep that in mind.

Well worth it in my opinoin: amazing environments, great additions to lore, and some more build into future games from the story which has been the franchises strong suit. Also, you get good a loot and maybe the best merchant in the game ![]()

Doesn't really add to the story at all. If you never played it, you wouldn't know you ever missed anything. It's basically just a dungeon crawler with hardly any banter and is overpriced for what it is. I'm sure it won't be long and you will be able to pick it up for $5.

Do you get any new armor at least?

aye new armour
Descent to me was/is what should have been in the base game for terms like "exploration"
For me buying it was worth it if for noin else just the marchant

Your answer to that question will also be the answer to your own question.

They went to the trouble of having the VA' s record some new lines but only had 3 or 4 added lines in most cases. Doesn't make much sense unless they're paid by the word or line.

No not worth it at all. I can't even play the stupid thing. After downloading it I go to Skyhold and low and behold nothing there near the Stormcoast. Did the repair crap and other suggestions on their worthless tech forum and nothing. I uninstall the DLC and reinstall it and now I can't even start my game up. Now I am uninstalling my game and reinstalling it again.

So far, I'd say your enjoyment of it will be influenced by your opinion on the Deep Roads. I find it enjoyable so far but I suspect I would find it more so if I were more fond of the Deep Roads.
If you detested the Deep Roads and would consider even the thought of venturing into them a bother then I recommend watching it rather play it.

I enjoyed the new lore and two dwarf companions were quite funny.
Didn't mind the dungeon crawl, the territories are not that big to become really tedious.
Was really disappointed with the minimal interaction between my old companions.
But in the end I liked the Descent enough not to think it was a waste of money. I liked DA 2 DLC better, but this one is fine for what it is.

For the price tag it has, I don't recommend it. 4 hours of a dungeon crawl without any companion input isn't worth the money, although the two dwarf NPCs are likeable.

Hm, probably throw my money next week on Bioware for all three DLCs and make another complete playthrough but a question on this: Does somebody has a recommendation on how to approach the things?
Because last time I played (way back early this year) I totally overleveled. Also, if I do those two DLCs and all side missions I guess Cory and the other main-missions are still way too easy and don't get an adjustment to my level?
Just asking it here, don't feel like making a thread for this ![]()

One may approach The Descent as early as 13th, but it should be tough. Setting up the first camp and them leaving the rest until late game should be profitable if you sell at the camp Crafting merchant.
JoH is made for 20+ lvls, and I recommend playing all of it before finishing Descent. The new abilities are too useful to ignore.
Both can be done before or after meeting Cory, though I do enjoy bringing Solas along into JoH for his unique insights. Meeting Cory after them should be much easier, but are apparently going to be useful before playing this new epilogue DLC.

Personally, I loved it. It's more combat focused than story, but there is some good Lore in there. But then again, I loved the Origins Deep Roads dungeon crawl too, so take that as you will. I played mine post-game and it worked out pretty well. There was even a bit of acknowledgement that I had finished the game, which was a nice touch.
