I really enjoyed it, really loved Hakkon, I think I liked Hakkon more.

But it felt short  though. I liked the story and the filler was just so easy to breeze through. I feel like you could do hakkon and descent in like 12 hours if you take your time and thats just not allot of content time for 30 bucks.

That being said I really did enjoy it, I just wish they would have put the effort they put into these two dlc's in zones like Exalted Plains or like hissing waste which could have better story explanations. Some zones are soo good. and some just left me feeling like they was in hurry maybe.

Still overall I played this game so much lol. I think I just finished my 5th nightmare playthrough, with at lest 50-75 hours on each. Now I am doing a nightmare solo playthrough.

Guessing it matters on how one plays, and whether they explore it or not. Took me 17 hrs the first time, and 15 hrs the next; climbed, peered, and looked at countless cliffs, stalagmites, and border paths. And I still managed to miss the Nug King Easter Egg locale.

My only issue is that I only have two Inq's able to use it currently.

I dunno, I think I cleared it my first time in like 5 hours. Got all of the cogwheels and rooms opened, not sure if I missed anything or not. Like I said though was super fun, just so short. I think Hakkon took me like 7 hours to get done with. I mean I guess I could spend another couple hours just exploring, but Id rather have content then exploration for 15 bucks right?

Yes you can.

Any time since getting Skyhold, though it seems to be tuned/set up to be more done in endgame (before final boss) or definitely part of the post-game. It is Tier 4 rewards but can fit into the Tier 3 experience (and technically Tier 2 experience, but I'll never do that).

EDIT: To be clear, I consider the Temple/Mage/Templar/Haven Tier 1, Wardens/Orlais Tier 2, Wilds/Dragons/Ending Tier 3, Hakkon/Descent Tier 4, very broadly speaking.

They intended it to be a way to get tier 3/4 schematics earlier or they would have done like hakkon and made it higher level. Instead is scales.

And to boot, with the new patch coming out in a week, they will introduce golden nug, which means you can sync all schematics, mounts etc.. And soon as you get to skyhold on any character you will have those schematics to use. Potions will still have to be upgraded but you will have them. Kind of like Game+ since you already done it once, no need to make people do it again. I however don't mind the grind getting stuff again.

I thought it was a bit too grindey. Is grindey a word? It is now. Griiindey. I spent about 10 minutes during one of the major fights and totally got our butts handed to us on the last one. And that was on casual, level 27 characters. But, I did enjoy the story and the new characters. David Hayter ftw.

Yes I do. I think I spent almost all my time in endless fights and traveling back and forth with all those gears collecting. Which left me with a very short story.

Yes it was short, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Especially the fights. I just wish Darkspawn emissarys were as formidable as they were in Origins. In that game, they'd spam you with crushing prison as well as use blood magic on you.
In Desent, aside from having ridiculous health, they're no more difficult to take down than Arcane Horrors.

Hakkon was a fine dlc. I've found it very challenging at some points and also quite long (and that is good). This is what a dlc should be: some OPTIONAL content that is unrelated to the plot and the lore.
Descent was not that way. It was shorter, and if you didn't try to find all the items, it would have been a lot shorter.

So, yeah, i preferred JoH

I don't know about short (took me over 10+, which I consider pretty acceptable for a €15 DLC), but I was kinda bummed about the story content - I'm not really a friend of the Hollow Earth Thedas Theory, although the visuals were pretty stunning. Also, the ending had This Will Come Back to Bite Thedas in the A** written all over it, which could be interesting, but all in all, the Titan lore left me pretty cold, if I'm completely honest.

It was pretty nice to have some tougher fights though, and all in all, it was decent value for money IMO, though not BioWare's best DLC all things considered.

I have the opposite thought; I thought it was a good length but not great content. It was just grinding, grinding, grinding that ultimately ended with more questions and no really great reveal. Just another grindy fight.

Was under the impression that Grinding is repeating fights in order to gain more XP and/ or items. To my knowledge, there may be only a single place where that is possible. Do not understand the complaint.

Now that I finally got it to work... what level should you take this on? I'm level twenty and my party is well armed and well armored and the first two fights I almost had my ass handed to me. Its been a while since I had a fight where there is only one party member standing and they're near death.

Descent can be entered as early as 13th, but recommend 21+ lvl and after playing JoH for the new abilities.

My first time through, the time I spent in Descent felt about perfect. For someone who likes to replay games and dlc, any longer would have made it a little tedious when replayed. Hakkon is different because it's much more open and up to the player when choosing what to do and where to go first, so replays aren't as boring.

No, it didn't feel short to me. Not lengthy either, but it had a decent length. With good content.

I'm level 20. Don't have JoH. These aren't the darkspawn I remember from Origins. Feels like I'm fighting a bunch of dragons at once with their ungodly HPs.

I think you're missing my point. Of course it works as soon as Skyhold. I only don't think it overall works as well, the sooner you do it. Sure you can do it, but like say Arrival DLC happening right after Horizon, I wouldn't really suggest it. I'd say Omega DLC too, but I actually really like to fight Cerberus a ton right after the Coup because I want a big win ASAP haha.

Descent may scale and feel better than Hakkon for earlier-in-game, but I still don't consider it a earlier-in-game DLC at its core. But yes, again, definitely more than Hakkon, due to your mentioned scaling. I'm not saying its not okay to do it ASAP after Skyhold, I'd only not suggest it.

Recommend using, or attempting to use combos and crits as much as possible. See here for some details on the former:

http://www.vrworld.c...ll-combo-guide/

As far as vulnerabilities, I went with the old standard of Fire vs Darkspawn. Cold may or may not do as much damage, but seems to work well for CC based on other's posted reports (I do not use Floating Text, so only have visuals as sources for effectiveness).

Yeah, I finished it straight through, it was good, but short. The lack of talking with the companions made it go very slowly.

I found it more focused than hakkon.

In Hakkon you can wander all about the place doing things that had nothing to do with the main quest, there's less of that in Descent (though I spent a lot more time staring at scenery, they did the deeproads really well this time)

I liked that I always felt I was moving forward (or rather down) in story, I think the fact that we had the two extra companions around talking about what was happening had a lot to with that.

I loved the lore and map of Hakkon, but I was more immersed in the story of Descent.

I reckon if you did everything, than hakkon was longer, but a lot of the things that made it so were fillery.

My only problem with Descent is the fact i thought wee would have caves like this to explore in the base game, what wee actually do for exploration in the base game i dont consider it such, i just consider that taking away the black bits, it is the one thing in Skyrim that is without doubt done very very well is the exploration, in DA:I not so good for me

It was short, so what?

The main thing important in my opinion is: How much fun did I have with it?
If so, it doesn't matter how long it lasted.
