Regardless of the status of the green light, Bioware has all INTENTIONS on continuing this story. They would not be teasing at sneak peeks of the future of Thedas this early on if not. Now, that being said, I am aware nothing is set in stone as EA has gotta have the final say so, but for Bioware to be responding with all these hints at the future DEF means they have already been making plans and could be a lot more involved than we know. DA4 is going to happen I feel without a doubt in the world, I do hope that Bioware takes the time needed to sit back and assess the big picture of things and I 100% believe they are. They are aware DAI is a hit or miss for their fans and I believe this has more to do with the DLC coming to an end than the actual sales revenue does. They are not going to continue releasing DLC for a game that is only loved by half of its core DA gamers. I don't believe DA will end anytime soon and that it will stretch even on past DA4 AS LONG AS BIOWARE TAKES EVERYTHING THEY LEARNED FROM DAI ABOUT WHAT WORKS AND WHAT DOESN'T. They treaded new waters with DAI and I believe that a lot of things will be changed in the next. Also, every different interview I read regarding news of this DLC and what is in store for DA, they are very quick to reveal that they have plans to continue the plot and I mean honestly, there are so many unknowns in the DA world that you gotta believe even EA would feel like crap about not giving closure on. SO, my opinion Dragon Age has a bright future and Bioware has a great attitude regarding DA despite the controversy surrounding DAI. These all point to more content, more entries! No worries yet anyways!!
DA4 not "greenlited" yet

The hinting at thw future of Dragon Age has been officially stated in 2 different interviews Bioware has done. I wouldn't have believed it otherwise, but they clearly say that this DLC will hint at whats to come Thedas. Their words.

It doesn't actually matter what they said before. That isn't a guarantee. Unless they get the green light, unless they get the funding and the go ahead to actually make another game, they cannot guarantee a fulfillment of that promise.
I can say "one day, I'm going to go into space". That is me making a promise, but unless someone gives me a rocket to take me up there, it's never going to happen.

My point is their Intent! I know nothing is guaranteed as I stated earlier, but the fact that they are saying they are already planning on anything regarding the future of DA is a good sign. I am not thriving off rumors or here say but simply saying that you can ALMOST rest assure that if they are saying that this early on, one day in the future a new DA is MORE THAN LIKELY to happen. NOT GUARANTEED but I can almost wholeheartedly bet you that one way or another something will happen. I don't for a second believe that they are going to give up on the series and throw it away after all the time and money invested in it. I am maintaining hope and faith NOT LIVING OFF PROMISES> Jeez all the negativity!!! AND btw your comparison of Bioware releasing a new DA and you getting a rocket to space is a joke and can not even be taken serious as the Rocket first of all has NOTHING closely related and is UNBELIEVABLE if not impossible while Bioware releasing DA is most certainly attainable and is believable. The metaphor doesn't work in this situation.

Why would they get the green light right now when there's two other Bioware games being worked on right now

Because EA know BioWare can make them lots of money.

That's not really an answer to a game that would be coming out in a very long time

It's also funny how some are ignoring that they said that the end of this last DLC hints to the future of Dragon Age
Having plans for something does not mean that something will come true. Bioware had plans for a DA2 expansion and that was canned. They had plans for Jade Empire 2 and that was canned. Hell, sometimes a game begins development and is cancelled in the middle of development.
So Bioware can say that the final DLC for DAI shows hints of what will happen in DA4, DA5, and DA6, but that isnt a confirmation that we will get a DA6, only that they plan on doing one but ultimately EA is the final say so and if EA wants to allocate money and resources for a new Bioware project meaning a current Bioware project has to be canned, then that will happen.
So I will say yes, we will (should) get a DA4. However, I have my doubts about a DA5. I believe we have more of a chance of getting a Mass Effect 5 than a Dragon Age 5.

Well it kinda is. If they went ahead and greenlit it now, they could have the game out in a few years time. That means EA will make more money in a shorter period of time than if they wait until one of those other games are finished.

They would also be stretching themselves thin by doing so, along with the fact that we don't even know who's still on the team besides Patrick

Couldn't they greenlight it without initially diverting resources to it? Just have slow development until ME:A comes out?

Given its sales and awards and the fanbase still exists for it... I don't think people should worry all that much. In fact, it should be expected that the dev team might get a small break before an official greenlight for the next one is given. I mean, these people have seemingly been going nonstop since DA2 at the very least, if not longer. Maybe a couple months for most of them to catch their breath is just a good thing ![]()

Once that's finished (it's only been a month or so since Trespasser crunch ended), it will be green-lit and they'll begin production.
They don't just get a blank check to do whatever. They have to come up with a plan before it can be executed.

This.
And everybody consider: if DA2 with its toxic fan reception didn't sink the series then a DA game that was the biggest launch in Bioware history and was pointed out in EA's earnings call for that quarter as contributing to the sucess of said quarter isn't going to end the franchise.

I see no reason there would be no DA4. Inquisition was a critical and (per EA) commercial success. But since Bioware has Andromeda and apparently a mystery IP in the works, they might just space out the releases. I very much doubt we will see a DA4 before 2019 or so. Now that the final leg of Trespasser is done, I assume the permanent Dragon Age team that isn't working on the new IP will be doing their proposal and the dev cycle will resume.

We shall see....
As of now, I dont see the series progressing past DA4.
DAI might have been Bioware's "best launch" but post launch reception wasnt all positive and many hated the filler content and poor PC support. Again, just cause you buy something doesnt make you a satisfied customer.
The Phantom Menance was also the best launch for a Star Wars movie. I will let you marinate on that thought.....

If they're smart - they'll take a note from Bethesda with Fallout 4.
Nothing... nothing... nothing... BOOM, Fallout 4 coming in six months... now shut up.
Are you sure it's worth the usually suspects going "See they cancelled the series because DAI was terrible hurhur" ![]()

Ah... let them spout it all they want. Not like the rabid haters ended the franchise after DA2 or ended the ME franchise after 3. There is just a sect of people that exist only to spam hate at Bioware at this point. Probably something to do with EA.

Because the Edmonton studio has generally had two games on the go, and currently it doesn't.
Possibly they're just very keen on the new IP

It does get tiring to constantly see it though.
