The Inquisitor Dying would be the best way to end the new DLC.

The inquisition as a super power is being shat all over, those scrubs in both Orlea & Fereldan want you dead (why?), your mark is outta control and to top it all off a bunch of horn headed freaks are out to destroy freedom.

There's gonna be lot's of drama, politics, murder & whatnot. The usual MO but this has the distinct feel of being the fourth & final act of DA:I.

Here's hoping the DA team don't just play it safe having the Hero's defeat the invaders & wrap it up with the mother of all exposition  teases from Solas before he's off through an eluvian (Witch Hunt anyone?)

Without a doubt the Solas tease is coming  ;)  but the trailer shows so much political & personal unrest for the inquisitor that I feel it would be a huge cop out if you just saved Thedas hunky dory then just ride the bull off over the sun set & call it a day.

The inquisition as a super power of Thedas has to go along with it's leader IMO. The invasion/ politics destroy the inquisition & the mark destroys the Herald.

Personally I would find this so much more interesting than the same old same old fairytale hero saves the world & is redeemed type of conclusions.

So do the right thing Bioware & kill the inquisitor ;)

I just want my Inquisitor to walk back to the forest.

Hell Dalish are pro at hiding...

I just find it poetic , going back to the woods and being a nobody again after saving the world.

Solas can take the mark too.I don't mind.

The content will be released in barely over a week. Whatever was decided is a done deal now. It's too late for Bioware to make any major storyline changes, no matter what the fans request. :)

I don't want my Inquisitor to die either.

From Alix and Allegra's comments on Twitter, it sounds like it might happen (unless it's just teary goodbyes to your companions), but I can't see it as the only conclusion. If they choose to do it, then we have to accept that and if we don't like it, simply don't play the epilogue.

I'd be pissed if I pay for a DLC where my Inquisitor has no option but dying. And that's an understatement. I don't mind if it's an outcome, as long as it's not the only outcome.

What, simply don't play the DLC you already bought? Or wait until other people play it and spoil yourself? Those aren't the best options.

If there is an option of not killing your inquisitor too, i am all for it. You choose yours ,i choose mine. DA:O was excellent in that regard.

It's not really a foolish request, and it's to late to change it now anyway should this actually be true... which, there is a chance that it could be. I mean, two years and you still have the mark? And it's killing you?! Well, nothings gotten rid of it yet, so you are basically sitting on death row.

Exactly! If they did go that route, they might have to fix it like they did in ME3, because not everyone wants to see their Inquisitor die. If they do choose to go that route though, I can't say I'll feel safe coming to this forum on Sep 8th lol

No thanks. Not in a DLC. It wouldn't work.

Though I could see some bad stuff happening for those of us who drank from the spooky well.

As others have noted, it depends a lot on the context, but it needs to be a choice, regardless.  I wouldn't mind if Quizzie bites it, in part because I've never sacrificed a Warden in the past (on account of game restrictions making it impossible to carry over to Awakening), so having a hero that ends his/her life for the cause could potentially be something interesting and unique for my PC in this case, as long as it's done well (as in, not like the stupid Hawke "sacrifice" that I refuse to mentally acknowledge anyway).

While I'm all for not killing off the Inquisitor, you cannot honestly be comparing Shepard with him/her. We got three games to connect with Shepard and make them ours. In those three games we got hundred of dialogue and action choices that further let us make Shepard an in game incarnation of ourselves. Compared to that the Inquisitor is a stranger.

This could be interesting and very emotional, but I'd like to have a choice and multiple endings, like we had in DA:O. It gives a bigger replay value for my four canon playthroughs and I like some of my Inquisitors too much to just let them die.

My Shepard always lived. Not that that was handled any better than the deaths...

Actually, this is one context I could see a Quizzie dying in, albeit for a different reason.

"What, you thought I was going to be your crazy elf spirit pawn?  Yeah, no.  Thanks for the dragon magic, I'm off to the Maker's bosom!"  Would be kind of appropriate with Qunari antagonists around, too.  Existence is a choice.  It is the only choice.

Well, Bioware did say we'll get to "decide the fate of the Inquisition", so that seems like a choice at least. I hope. And I'm more optimistic about the Inquisitor living after I read this: (Sorry I don't have the link)

I know they’re different BioWare teams, but some of the the goals of Trespasser remind me of Mass Effect 3’s Citadel DLC. Did you take any inspiration from that?

I would say we took some notes there. Citadel happens in the timeline – it happens mid-mission, before the end. It’s not an epilogue in the same way, though when it was released, for many people it was their last experience with Mass Effect. This big thing about Citadel that we found resonant was that opportunity to hang out with your friends again and saddle up for another mission. There’s a bit of a joy in seeing these folks again and seeing how they’ve evolved. How are things with Dorian now? How are things with Blackwall? Of course, we can change elements of that based on how you played Inquisition and the decisions you made. There is a chunk of Trespasser where you get to catch up with old friends, and that is certainly our most hotly requested thing for DLC. When we look at critiques for The Descent, it’s often “Well, I just wanted more out of my followers.” We wanted to make sure that you have the opportunity to deal with your advisors like Cullen and Josephine, but also that the followers are there and you have a chance to see how things have turned out for them.

So if we have an aftermath/epilogue-to-the-epilogue like Citadel, we'd have to be alive in at least some scenarios... I hope.

Edit: Unless of course that happens first, but that seems like bad story-pacing. Ugh, this is gut-wrenching!

The way I see it, the possible variations for the ending will involve the life of the Inquisitor(Dead or Alive) and the fate of the Inquisition(Continued or Disbanded).

Like for example, you can choose to keep the Inquisition around but pass the title to someone else instead of running it yourself. Something like that.

People fell in love with their Wardens just as deeply despite it being only 1 game. If not, all this demand for the HOF to come back wouldn't be all over the forum. Those who willingly made the effort to shape their Inquisitor and play the game since it came out can easily get attached to them and not wish such a fate for them. I myself want the option for a specific role play reason, but not everyone does.

I'm actually finding the reactions to DAI ending to be a lot more emotional than any other DA game, most likely because they made an epilogue and it's something that's never been done before. This truly feels final.

Well I do concur that I got very attached to the Warden but again that is because the Warden's responses were a lot more 'upto the player' thanks to the unvoiced character and because I generally enjoyed the story more.

But to each his own. Since many including you do feel attached to the Inquisitor, like I said, I do hope there's a happy ending in store for them.  :)

Yes, that seems good.

- Disband the Inquisition and die

- Disband the Inquisition and live

- Continue the Inquisition, name a successor, die

- Continue the Inquisition, name a successor, retire

- Continue the Inquisition and keep leading

That would be great.
