I have beaten DAI 2 times and I am so single minded or just fear becoming the unknown race cuz I was human both times. Human males both times. I always choose Human races for some reason, but was thinking of experimenting with Qunari. Are there any big changes or noteworthy differences in the race choice?
Overall, what race is the more enjoyable experience to make IQ?

I hate playing human, I really do but in Inquisition I had best experience playing human so I would recomend it. I feel like if they hadn't added other races we could have some amazing animations. :3

For females I would say elves, and for males I would say humans. For females this largely has to do with who each race is able to romance. As for males, I think I just like the face shape of humans more than the other races.

Qunari mage is my favorite.
I feel like qunari rift mage is best story wise. Tho I would recomend male. If you romance divine Cassandra you make the most powerful couple.

Female elf, for a host of reasons. To go further, female elven mage who chooses knight enchanter since it's actually an elven style that simply got stolen and reappropriated by humans. To go even further, one that romances Solas.

Most enjoyable for me is Human.

I have yet to give a try to every race but given what I see they all seem very enjoyable. Qunari seems to be particularly delightful having the chantry eye on you.
This is a personnal favourite but I like playing as an elf for the perception humans seems to have of the specie in the game. They have this image of delicate and beautiful people, and boom, here is my 5'o'clock shadow tiny badass dude!elf.
Plus lots of elven lore and the roleplay value to determine the beliefs of your character and the freakout your Inq might or might not have from going to living in the woods to owning a castle.
(oh, and the Dalish rogue armor. There is nothing like going barefooted in the snowy Emprise du Lion)

No, race differences are almost unnoticeable unless you pay attention -- mainly some alternative NPC speech during cutscenes and banter.
Define "enjoyable"?
If you mean, best fit for the main quest narrative, I think human non-mage, non-templar is best. Unless you want to play a partisan, I suppose, but you are still in a weird role story-wise, since the mage/templar schism choice ends up being awkward no matter what you do.
If you mean Cullen or Solas romance options, elven female.
If you mean best combat-wise, Qunari mage. Well, Qunari anything really.

This game screams elf too much...

I haven't played a dwarf, but there isn't much of a difference race wise. Different bonuses and a couple lines of dialogue.

You... Like the male elf? Really? With their completely broken character model with screwed up arms and everything?
If you mean best combat-wise, Qunari mage. Well, Qunari anything really.
No, not everything. Qunari arms get really glitchy and stupid looking when using a bow, their rigging and everything gets extremely f*****. And the best rogue armor, prowler, also really screws up. Look at both together here (archery and the prowler armor combined).

I guess that's a question no one can really answer.
Each races has "their" unique things. Will it make that big change ? In the main scenario I'm not sure, but for you personnally, you can end up loving a character also because of that particular race. It's just a matter of role-playing.
Plus, being close to the main story through romance/race/class does not mean you'll enjoy the game more.
My canon is an assassin fem human inquisitor & I have all the reason to think that was the best way to enjoy my "own" Inquisition, as my friend loved her KE female elf because she has her own reasons to.
You want to play as a Qunari Inquisitor ? I would say go for it if you feel this way. This is not like you will forever stuck in a playthrough and can't re-try human if it not please you.

Qunari whatver - mercenary gives this character alot of flexibility and you're wearing merc armor.
I loved my female elf mage however the mythal dialogue was a massive let down.
especially as flemeth is one of my favorite characters in dragon age.

So far, my impression is:
Human Mage - favorite. this is probably because this is the background that is uniquely invested in the conclave - not just there to facilitate or spy. this is one of the actual delegates. for role play, it adds a fascinating dynamic to being the one survivor. as the story progresses, the unique attachment to the mage/templar conflict is pretty neat. also, human mage has *some* reason to try and restore order (where my dalish would have happily let the world burn)
Dalish anything - second fave. while the reasons for being at the conclave are less...believable? (how u get to center of temple if you're spying from afar? i mean, did they let you in without papers? to peace talks? eh, maybe i'm overthinking this) - the entire dalish arc/reveals are FASCINATING. also jaws of hakkon endings make much more sense if dalish. mythal makes more sense with dalish. connection to solas makes more sense with dalish. DALISH! ahem. bad part is, however, you have to take on this crazy shem organization and lead them? also, i would like to just let orlais burn as a dalish.
Human rogue/soldier - close second with dalish. reason to care about the inquistion/order kept. maybe were in the conclave as a delegate (or with delegate host). most likely to be pro-chantry, if you want to roll that way. ... i don't.
qunari - get's a HUGE laugh from bull. he thinks it's hilarious you're a qunari herald. this one has the most um, i wanna say strong reactions from people - they tend to go 'whoa! giant', but then they get over it pretty fast. i have not gotten into the qunari very much, honestly. i guess the merc-turned herald appealed to me less. but it is a very distinctive class
dwarf - haven't gotten far with my dwarf.
that's my really thoughtful assessment that i totally didn't just throw up here on the spot. ![]()
^ oh, edit: will add this:
VERY easy to make good-looking human male and elf female characters in the CC. like, just pop some features in and it's more or less good to go. I found it MUCH harder to make good, interesting, proportional qunari woman, human women, elf men, etc. might want to go prepared with sliders.

Hmmm, I think a lot depends on you. I created my own story for each of my characters before playing. For instance, my roguish Dalish elf was happily seducing stupid human women until the world blew up. Then he ends up falling for Dorian (love that guy). I generally prefer playing female, but I will play another Dorian romance at some point. I certainly enjoyed my fem. Qunari mage, my human female mage who is more comfortable with Templars and my current female dagger dwarf. I guess I'm fickle.
