So, out of curiosity, wich companions will you be taking to this DLC story wise?

I for one will bring Iron Bull, obviously due to his connection with the qunari. I had him leave the Qun, so it should be interesting to see how he reacts to fighting his former allies. Cole, mostly because of his connection to Solas, as he was pretty much the only on in the team Solas considered an friend, and Cole aways has something interesting to say about what is going on. I suppose the last one will be Varric, as he already dealt with an Qunari invasion before, so I expect some unique dialogue from him. Not to mention he was one of Solas starting companions. My Inquisitor is an mage, so the team should still be pretty balanced by the end of the day.

Cassandra, Dorian and Sera are pretty much my core group for all post-campaign shenanigans.

I'm tempted to swap out someone for Iron Bull, because the Qunari angle might make this interesting.

Don't know yet.

Probably Dorian , since he's LI ...and then I will do the catching up and talk with them.

We'll see if the years have been kind.

- Cassandra because LI.

- Sera because she is my fav companion.

- I want to take Iron Bull but I usually like to have at least one of each class in my team, which means I need a Mage and neither Vivienne or Dorian appeal to me, Solas was my fav mage, but for obvious reasons I can't use him, so I may just take Bull anyway for the dialogue.

Varies from Inquisitor to Inquisitor, even if they're the same class, well, except maybe mage. My rift mage is running with Solas, Cass and Varric. My KE ran with Cass, Bull and Sera. My archer runs with Cass/Bull/Dorian, and my melee rogue runs with Cass, Sera and Dorian.

Iron Bull because I never go anywhere without him. And Cole because, as you wrote in the OP, he always has something interesting to say. I'm not sure who else........maybe Cass.

My favourite team for banter and story missions was Cole, Cassandra and Solas. They get along beautifully once Cassandra relaxes a bit about Cole, and I love their thoughtful and insightful commentary both individually and together. Cass and Cole are my Inquisitor's most trusted and cherished friends, so they are always a must. With Solas gone, Dorian will take his spot for this (and for JoH which I still need to cram in before the new DLC ships) because I like and trust him a lot more than I do Vivienne, plus she does not get along with my spirit buddy, which is a no-go.

Having two sword & board warriors (my Inquisitor is a Champion) plus a third melee character can be a bit annoying gameplay-wise at times, but story trumps gameplay any day for me.

Cassandra, because she's my LI and I want to see how the Divine reacts to being back in combat.

Cole, because he's my favorite character in the series. Also, I'm interested in seeing how the "human" Cole banter with the others.

Vivienne, because she's fabulous! Her little comments about things always put a smile on my face. :) ;)

Cassandra, Sera, and Dorian. Rotating Iron Bull in there when I can. Those three plus Iron Bull and Solas were the characters I most connected with. Solas was like a mentor, Cassandra is my LI and the model for how my Inquisitor acted as a leader, Sera and Dorian are my best friends and Iron Bull was just such a cool dude that I couldn't not like him.

I'm hoping for opportunities to give each companion at least one run during at least one point in the dlc.

But for whatever may be the final leg of the journey:

Cassandra (romanced)
Blackwall
Varric or Dorian (can't decide)

This sums up my Inquisitor perfectly, though I would have to switch Dorian for Varric.

I like Varric a lot, but he'll always feel too much like Hawke's best friend to ever be my Inquisitor's BF.

Also, Dorian and Sera perfectly reflect how I RP my Inquisitor. A human noble archer that before becoming the Inquisitor, acted like Dorian when in court (black sheep of the family) but would much rather spend his time hunting and being like Sera.

My favorite team is Iron Bull, Varric and Dorian. I get some strange conversations because Iron Bull and Dorian are together, and if you put Iron Bull, Dorian and Sera together it is soo funny.

I'll probably play it first with my Inquisitor who romanced Solas, so that means bringing Cole and Cassandra. Aside from being my favourite characters, Cole has a connection to Solas that could offer insight and Cassandra is Divine. The last spot will probably be filled by Dorian, since I need a mage (and Vivienne doesn't get along with this Inky). He might offer some interesting thoughts on the Qunari aspect too.

Cassie because I absolutely need her shield and I love her too much to not have her (she's like my DA:I Aveline. If she's in the party nothing can go wrong)

Dorian for his science (always bring an scholar in unknown places) and delightful banter. Plus he's my Inq's LI so whatever happens I want to see what he will say and do.

Usually the last member of my favorite party is the exquisite Vivienne. But I think I'll bring Iron Bull with me for an awkward "family reunion".

Depends on the Inquisitor.

The noble Herald f!Cadash warrior was an altruistic Andrastian who appreciated honor and honesty, so she got along with mostly Vivienne, Blackwall, Dorian, Bull and surprisingly Cole because of his compassion which she had too. I ignored Cassandra, Varric, Solas and Sera because I wanted to spare them for another playthrough.

The mysterious seductress f!Lavellan archer dragged her crushes constantly with her. First her heart was broken by Dorian, then by Cole (she still considers their Val Royeaux side trip as a date). Interested in everything elven, superstitious and magical, she was accompanied by Solas often. Blackwall and Bull were always there to protect her on her travels because she had something going on with them at some point.

The charming rebel m!Trevelyan mage has a rivalmance with Cass going on, but will most likely use everyone in his team because he knows how to please people. Though I am unsure about Dorian since I intend to make my Inqi a necromancer.

So lets see

I let Blackwall rot in prison so he will be dead. I got pissed that when I rescued him, commanded him to go to the Wardens, he STILL says at the end 'Im gonna stick around for a while.' umm how about you honor my judgement and gtfo jerk, just because I felt you were possibly worthy of redemption doesn't mean i want you around. So now I just let him rot.

I romanced Cass but let her become Divine.

I never let Viv into my party so shes out.

I let Cole become a spirit. who knows if he sticks around

I kept the Chargers and threw away the alliance with the Qunari, so Iron Bull will still be around. Hopefully after 2 years he feels a little better about the decision.

Tentative crew: Iron Bull, Dorian, Varric.

If Cole sticks around then swap Varric out in his favor.

Can't go wrong with that group, they always have something interesting to add.

I might adapt my group to fit the storyline.

Usually I bring Blackwall. His Champion/Vanguard spec is just God tier, I've stopped using Cassandra as soon as I recruit Blackwall because of this. That, and incredible gear and fade touch mats make him equivalent to the Maker.

Dorian is my Barrier/Spirit Mage. Solas didn't work out, he just seems to barrier when he wants to, not when its needed.

Then another DPS beside me. Usually Varric, because he's the storyteller!

But for the DLC....I might bring Iron Bull as a DPS, Dorian as my Support, and keep Blackwall as my tank. A Qunari, Vint, and a self-proclaimed Warden travelling alongside the Inquisitor should make it interesting!

That'll be on my Josephine romanced character. For my Cassandra one, I'll just make her my tank, maybe turn down the difficulty, then have Dorian and Bull again.

I try to rotate everybody in and out, but my first Inquisitor's primary team is Cassandra, Vivienne and Varric.

Divine Vivienne, Cassandra and Iron Bull if I can. If IB betrays me as I hope he does, I'll alternate Sera and Varric out.

I will switch the party out as needed, but I intend to utilize each member. But as always, romanced Cassandra is with my Inquisitor wherever he goes.

So it will be:

Dorian and The Iron Bull (assuming he is not loyal to the Qunari) when fighting the Qunari.

Sera and The Iron Bull if there is a dragon fight, and I'm sure there will be.

Cole and Varric when meeting Solas.

Varric and Blackwall if we go into the Deep Roads.

Vivienne and Cole for elven ruins.

Sera and The Iron Bull if that Qunari female if some kind of big boss fight.

If we can bring companions to the trial/hearing, then Vivienne for sure, and then maybe Dorian if the Qunari threat is to be discussed, or maybe The Iron Bull if he is not loyal to the attacking Qunari. Or I may pick Cole for his ability to read minds, and see if any nobles there have hidden agendas. It's possible that Vivienne will be on the bench since she is Divine in my worldstate.

I like not having to fit Solas into this. :) If we are to fight Solas, then I will probably take Vivienne and Cole, or perhaps Sera and Cole.

For the plot involving the anchor trying to kill my Inquisitor, if it isn't linked with any other plot, then probably Vivienne and Dorian since they are also mages and might have comments or theories on what's happening.

Blackwall, Sera, Viviene for the 1st playthrough as those are my strongest Nightmare team.
