So if Bioware makes it so that not all Quarians went to go fight for their homeworld against geth, and another population chose a plan B and joined up with the expedition to Andromeda (just in case Milky Way Quarins got wiped)..........

What should be done about their faces if they return in Andromeda?

Bioware could.......never show their faces in game.

Or, they could use the face of Tali, as their real appearence in Andromeda.

Another option is to retcon the ME3 face (maybe Tali was joking with that picture instead), giving us all all new alien looking face in the game.

What do you think should be done about their face?

Personally, I don't think it should EVER be shown. For a personal reason - I like the Quarian helmets too much to have them not use them and it'd remove like one of their most distinguishing features if they were shown without.

And for the developers - 1. No matter what they do it won't be right for SOMEONE and then that'd just cause problems for them, and not showing their faces would also mean that instead of putting hours into designing a Quarian face they could spend their time more on the game itself.

But I suppose they can't win, no matter what they do it'll be controversial in some way. Some just might be more positively controversial than others.

The enviro-suit maketh the Quarian. Yes, the codex describes a rich culture, and we encounter their social dynamics within the flotilla; so I'll readily agree with anyone who states their a strong enough standalone race. But as much as I hate to say it (as I'd love to sate my curiosity), the Quarians need to stay in their suits.
If they do reveal any part of their facial anatomy, it should be minimal, or described by a third party. That way the retain that sort of air of mystery about them.

Hell, in a new galaxy we should all be in ****** enviro-suits, less the citizens of the milky-way discover a new common-cold type bacterium they have no immunity to and all die.

Oh, I totally agree that they have a strong culture and stuff - but in terms of visual appearance it's what marks them out as different and being different is one of the themes surrounding Quarians - they're outcasts, and I think their suits are used as a visual representation of how segregated they are from the Council and everyone around them.

I mean, the Asari were probably created for their aesthetic appeal, and their hair-tentacle things were created (according to The Art of the Mass Effect Universe) to look like a woman who has had her hair swept back by some water - it's supposed to give them a "sexy" look apparently. It's a visual representation of their culture in the same way that Krogan are nearly always seen in armour because it's a visual representation of their culture being very warlike.

Having Quarians without suits would be like having Asari without tentacles or Krogan without armour.

And that'd just be wrong.

So y'know.

They should be there, and faces should be shown. I dont see them losing anything by it, in fact gaining normality and addapting, becoming more relatable. That doesnt mean losing the suits completely, just show us faces if we gain their trust.

Despite Tali being an Angel when it comes to behaviour only 27% of players chose her people, over 37% who chose Geth. Such a result for a character that was present from day 1, and that we watched grow shows  there is something seriously wrong that is preventing relateability.

I think a compromise could be reached. If the home hub is the ark ship, for example, quarians would be adapted to that environment and walk around with their helmets off. Anywhere else? Helmets on.

As for their appearance, there's really no changing Tali's face. That can of worms can't be repacked. (Without mods.) But, there was a quarian in one of the EC slides with purple skin. Which was how I expected all of them to look given that a lot of quarian's masks have a purple tint to it. Now, I would assume that they all have a variety of skin colours.

I definitely want to see a quarian face! And I'm ALL in favor of retconning the crappy pic of romanced Tali. The Dragon Age devs retconned the DAO as well as the DA2 look of elves to create the DAI version, and I think we're generally happy with the result (minus male Lavellan's broken arms).

Just turn the volus into the dwarves and call it a 'lose the suit' day in Andromeda!

I'm good with either.
I agree that the suit is part of what makes a Quarian a Quarian.
Plus the mystery is nice also.
A quick split-sec peek would be ok.
I ALWAYS chose peace between geth-quarians, but if forced I would choose the quarians, that's just me though.

This would be a nice compromise :) Perhaps get a glimpse of our (hypothetical) quarian companion's eyes or smile.

The suits have become a major part of the quarian culture, I don't see the quarians abandoning them - Tali says pretty much just that in ME3, the suits carry such meaning within their lives that she doesn't think that they'd stop wearing them, just that a rupture wouldn't become a life or death situation. Not to mention, when did these characters leave the Milky Way - if they left before the events of ME3, the quarians wouldn't dare not be in their suits. If they left after ME3, maybe, but for most of the history of the Mass Effect universe, the quarians NEEDED their suits to survive.

However, I FULLY support any appearance of an unmasked quarian to have an appearance that does not resemble that bloody photograph. Even beyond the laziness of that to begin with, it's not even lore-compliant - humans are supposed to be the only species with hair. Not to mention WHEN exactly would Tali have been able to TAKE this photograph? Best to ignore it, at most call it a portrait made with the 2186 edition of Photoshop. But just NO to that photo as the canon appearance of quarians.

Well, unless everyone is in cryo on the ark ship, we should all be in enviro suits.

i think if we were ''far from and away in space and time'' as the trilogy, i would assume the quarians can live and that their immune system is not as bad.

If the quarians are in the game, they really should just show their faces even if it's through the helmet. In the original trilogy, it's kind of weird how they apparently can see everyone clearly, yet their faces are somehow totally obscured, save for their apparently bioluminescent eyes. Like, are they shrouded in some sort of thick gas in there?

I'm not sure why there would be any fear of effort being put into the quarians' face design causing something else to be sacrificed any more than the time put into designing the faces of just about every NPC who doesn't perpetually wear a helmet.

Yes, they don't have gas vents in the butthole region, so when they fart things get fogged up. The real toxic farts make the mask look foggy green.

:P We need an analysis on quarian farts...what do they smell like...or taste like...methane...sulfur...

I knew the answer to the question the moment I finished typing. I prefer to believe that the quarians are always blazed. When Tali takes her mask off on Rannoch, you just see it billow out of her helmet lie she had a hookah in there.

I definitely would love to see their faces...and i hope the "creators" could make them beautiful...they (Tali) deserve that  ;)

Would be great.

After what happened during Mass Effect 3, I believe the quarians would not need their suits anymore.
