Bioware of old (Pre-EA) would never let a game without fixing its bugs. EA on the other hand, has never fixed all the bugs in their games. (except sports ones but I never played them). It's tradition. The Battle for Middle Earth had a sequel (II) and an Expansion and the first game was never trully fixed. Ultima IX was so bad at release that EA mailed a free disk to all customers with the whole game plus the fix. (recall? lol)

The best way I found to deal with this issue was to assign a mouse button (if you have 5 or more of them) to the "Attack my target" command because Y is really out of the way in the heat of a battle. For those without the option, just hit the Attack my target default key as soon as an hostile is seen and they will attack it. Might not be the best tactics sometimes though.

That's pretty much how I feel about Bioware now. In reality, I should not expect so much anymore. Remember ME3 and the bug with Ash and one of her abilities? Using it would make the character almost freeze, and not be able to fire? Well, Bioware simply said: "we will not fix that bug". No exageration, no hearsay. Just the facts. That was their final answer about it. I know what I'm going to say may seem harsh. But the moment I read that answer I felt like I just bought some utility in the supermaket, found out it was broken, and the market said they would just not fix it or refund me. Felt like fraud or petty theft. You can't sell something with a basic broken thing like that! The real problem, I supose, is that we come back for more. They know it, and just don't care anymore.

I'm actually done with the DA franchise after Dragon Age Skyrim, I mean, Inquisition. MEA with its "exploration" appeal is scaring me already. Hope it's not ME Galactic Skyrim.

Don't get me wrong. I like Skyrim. I just don't think every game should be like it. Open World and all. And I think you should leave it to the folks that know how to do it. I'm amazed how bad DAI's "open world" is. You need to go up a mountain? Sure, we will just put some "rock fences" all around it, so there's just one way to the top. So, it's not a good open world. It's just a looonnngggg walking road to each part of the map. And just one way to do everything. So, why would you hint of "open world" if it feels like you're a rat being guided through a maze? I really wish Bioware could take a deep breath and go back to its roots. Characters (I really wanted to like DAI characters, but besides being poster boys for political correctness, which sucks by itself, they are the worst ever); stories (DAI's is booooring, with no new facts, no intrigue, no story turns, bad side stories, weak companion stories etc); and dynamic worlds, maps, whatever. All story-driven!!! Spending my few free hours of my working days collecting plants on a "open world" mock is not the way to go. When I wanted that, I bouth Skyrim. I bought games, and mostly Bioware games, because of their dynamic and story-driven games. And caring for the paying costumers. Not it all seems gone.

I've noticed that it happens on occation if I use Charging Bull and end up running into walls, rocks etc. Switching off tactical view and jumping or hitting the attack button fixes it for me

Which games were you playing? Several BG bugs were never fixed. NWN ended up pretty good, eventually, but only because Bio invented paid DLC, which gave them a revenue stream to pay for more patching.

Normally, the bug doesn't occur more than once or maybe twice a fight; however, I just did In Your Heart Shall Burn and I had every single party member freeze totalling over 11 times in the last fight(I only started counting after the first several). There's something that increases the frequencey obviously, in which case, not having whatever-that-is should decrease the frequency. Any thoughts anyone?

I think you are correct. There's something that increases it. And I had the impression that it increases as the game progresses. I say this because I usually don't change companions a lot, don't much change tatics or anything. So, I don't know, but it defeinitely increases after some time or under certain conditions. Which makes it more detectable, I guess.

Yep, sometimes that's the only thing left to do! Thanks for the tip!

Since BG1, all of them. And that was called Expansion, which suits them fine. Way different from paid DLC. Of course, NWN had such an amazing community that fixed many stuff that were later absorbed into BW official patches. Nonetheless, they were always listening and the second expansion to NWN had a grave game breaking bug which got fixed by BW in a couple of days. Can't imagine how long would it take if BW were EA's already.

Pretty much this. All of the pre-EA Bioware game had this one thing going for them, the amazing modding community and to have so thoroughly screwed them over in the past few years is just bad form imho. Honestly, if it weren't for the fact my gf literally bought the game for me I wasn't even going to get Inquisition after what they did in DA2.

Random question: how on earth do you deal with the enemy rogues on nightmare?? Everything else is wonderfully challenging but those cc immune rogues with more hp than everything else and stealthing a bunch....so annoying lol

I had the same issues with the buddies in Phantom Pain. I haven't played DAI; I hope this glitch doesn't effect me when I finally play it.

For DA2:  Pull them out of stealth, dps them down as fast as possible while they're visible.  Keys to dealing with their stealth

- Anything that hit with sufficient "force" would break their stealth.  Pretty much any AoE spell from a Force Mage would do the trick, as just having the Force Mage specialization added an extra level of "force" to all of your spells.  See an enemy rogue going into stealth, immediately cast any AoE spell you have on that area and it will make them visible again.  I believe 2H warrior auto attacks could do it as well once they unlocked a certain upgrade, but I don't remember what it was.

- In DA2 enemy rogues will not enter stealth once all of their allies are dead, so if you can kill all of their buddies first you don't have to worry about them stealthing and backstabbing your or stealing your health pots anymore

Getting back on topic...

The issue of NPC companions just standing around not doing anything is happening for me now ALL THE TIME.  I don't know when it started, as I haven't played DAI in a long time.  I just started up again because I just got the DLC for it.  I can solo with my character and I only bring companions with me for their banter so it doesn't bother me all that much.  I can see how it would be very annoying if you were relying on Blackwall to tank and he was just standing there, though.

Speaking of Blackwall... I had an interesting bug with him the other day too.  He spent an entire fight doing nothing but using his Challenge ability.  He ignored my every "attack my target" command.  He ignored the "disengage" command.  He ignored my every attempt to get him to use any other ability.  Just stood there doing Challenge on an archer that was like a mile away from the rest of the party.  After that I fight I went into his tactics, disabled Challenge, AND removed it from his hotkey bar.  The very next fight, he did the exact same thing.  Challenge, challenge, challenge, challenge.... Again, I only have companions around for their banter so it didn't make much difference to me in the end, it was just perplexing.  He did nothing but use Challenge until I quit and reloaded the game.
