Bioware of old (Pre-EA) would never let a game without fixing its bugs. EA on the other hand, has never fixed all the bugs in their games. (except sports ones but I never played them). It's tradition. The Battle for Middle Earth had a sequel (II) and an Expansion and the first game was never trully fixed. Ultima IX was so bad at release that EA mailed a free disk to all customers with the whole game plus the fix. (recall? lol)
The best way I found to deal with this issue was to assign a mouse button (if you have 5 or more of them) to the "Attack my target" command because Y is really out of the way in the heat of a battle. For those without the option, just hit the Attack my target default key as soon as an hostile is seen and they will attack it. Might not be the best tactics sometimes though.
That's pretty much how I feel about Bioware now. In reality, I should not expect so much anymore. Remember ME3 and the bug with Ash and one of her abilities? Using it would make the character almost freeze, and not be able to fire? Well, Bioware simply said: "we will not fix that bug". No exageration, no hearsay. Just the facts. That was their final answer about it. I know what I'm going to say may seem harsh. But the moment I read that answer I felt like I just bought some utility in the supermaket, found out it was broken, and the market said they would just not fix it or refund me. Felt like fraud or petty theft. You can't sell something with a basic broken thing like that! The real problem, I supose, is that we come back for more. They know it, and just don't care anymore.
I'm actually done with the DA franchise after Dragon Age Skyrim, I mean, Inquisition. MEA with its "exploration" appeal is scaring me already. Hope it's not ME Galactic Skyrim.
Don't get me wrong. I like Skyrim. I just don't think every game should be like it. Open World and all. And I think you should leave it to the folks that know how to do it. I'm amazed how bad DAI's "open world" is. You need to go up a mountain? Sure, we will just put some "rock fences" all around it, so there's just one way to the top. So, it's not a good open world. It's just a looonnngggg walking road to each part of the map. And just one way to do everything. So, why would you hint of "open world" if it feels like you're a rat being guided through a maze? I really wish Bioware could take a deep breath and go back to its roots. Characters (I really wanted to like DAI characters, but besides being poster boys for political correctness, which sucks by itself, they are the worst ever); stories (DAI's is booooring, with no new facts, no intrigue, no story turns, bad side stories, weak companion stories etc); and dynamic worlds, maps, whatever. All story-driven!!! Spending my few free hours of my working days collecting plants on a "open world" mock is not the way to go. When I wanted that, I bouth Skyrim. I bought games, and mostly Bioware games, because of their dynamic and story-driven games. And caring for the paying costumers. Not it all seems gone.
