that prefers to play a straight male character most of the time, I am thoroughly disappointed with the viable romance options that I am given. It's either Cassandra or Josephine, neither of which are very appealing to me. I hate hoity toity rich nobles and the game (politics) so Josephine is not compatible at all and the seeker is too bitchy. I did romance Cassandra because she was the preferable of the two options, but I still am not thrilled with her. I realize the romance is just an optional part of the game, but to opt out simply because I don't particularly like either of my very limited options is nowhere near the same as opting out because I wanted to play a pious inquisitor who has no time for romance. I really like Sera, but she doesn't like wieners so she's not available (gonna play a female next go around just so I can romance her). I don't like Vivienne at all, see above comments about Josephine then multiple by 5, but it wouldn't matter if I did like her because she shuts you down real fast if you try. Since there are already threads devoted to her I won't rant about it here but we can flirt our asses off with Scout Harding but it never actually develops.

I really hope next time around, assuming there's a DA4, we have more options. (also, give us dwarf romance options, damn it, male and female. I <3 dwarves)

Calls Cassandra bitchy, then adds that he likes Sera. Are you sure you base your taste on their personality and not appearance?

Vivienne is already in love with Duke Bastien of the Council of Heralds, there's nothing wrong with that. It's like complaining that Oghren was in love with Felsi.

I romanced Cassandra and was happy with how it played out. My second choice would have been Dorian

I play a straight male Inquisitor as well and I found none of the women available pretty enough, so I didn't romance anyone.

Didn't you know? It's all part of the gay agenda. BioWare are attempting to make everyone gay by making you choose between Cristoph-- I mean, Cassandra, and Broseph -- sorry, I mean Josephine. WHO ARE REALLY MEN.

Seriously though.. Vivienne isn't a romance option and I don't think she's capable of love anyway, although it would have been a good idea for BW to make her a romance option so she can gain power for political purposes and she ends up screwing you anyway.. and by that, I mean in the butt and not in a good way.

I really don't see what the big deal is.. in previous BW titles, gay men/women and straight females had jack ****. In ME, I only had Liara as an option, and a big chunk of her is missing from ME2. Then there was Traynor in ME3, but there really isn't that much content.

Gay men had squat until ME3, no romance options in ME1 or 2, and the option of Kaidan (if he survived Virmire) and Cortez which I've been told, doesn't have much content.

Sure, lesbians can have flings with Chambers in ME2 and Allers in ME3, but it's rather pointless and wouldnt really class as a romance.

Long story short: if people like us put up with it in the past, I'm sure straight men can deal with it. If you're lucky BW will take into account all of these complaints and make it more fair for not just you, but everyone.

Is this topic hated so much that it's making people drink (or pretend to drink to look cool)?

Notsomuch hated as repeated endlessly. I'm in favor of a Lace Harding romance as much as the next dwarf player but... it ain't gonna happen now. Nor will they change anything about the romances we have. They're done after Trespasser drops.

Bolded part: That's pretty much it, hear it constantly for the past 9/10 months and you stop taking every brand new thread about it seriously. There must have been dozens of threads repeating this over and over now.

Yeah females seem to have more romance options than males.  Since I'm not that into romances it isn't a big deal to me personally plus I play female a lot.

I guess I could make a dozen more of these and turn you all into alcoholics.

How terrible for you. This lack of options (but note! Options there be). In this single example of media. violin.gif

Agree that Sera should have been a romance option as well, as she is my fav companion in that game, but haven't straight males always had a choice of two LI's?

DAO - Leliana & Morrigan

DA2 - Isabela & Merrill

DAI - Cassandra & Josephine

So it's not as though the LI's have decreased.

You know, it's valid for folks to make a post saying they weren't too thrilled with a particular slate of romances. I just think it might be more helpful for the devs to take this into account and work with in the future if there were a list of reasons a particular set of love interests didn't work overall, and what people would like to see. If it's another thread full of "hur hur she uglee" or "I don't like religious types!!" then that's a matter of personal preference. If things were just weak with the romance and characterization, and that's your issue, just let them know. I'm sure that part they could use and improve upon.

As long as it doesn't devolve into the usual thread full of "it's not fair others got more!" or "Cassandra is a maaaan," we can all play nice. I hope. :P

Because that doesn't come off as shallow at all.
