Calls Cassandra bitchy, then adds that he likes Sera. Are you sure you base your taste on their personality and not appearance?
Sera's fun. Cassandra's too... stuffy? stodgy? She's no fun.
Because that doesn't come off as shallow at all.
Like I care what you think of me.
Maybe I was playing a shallow Inquisitor who only dates people he's attracted to. Oh how shallow of him.
Would you rather I romance one of them like a good man just so I can say I gave them a chance? I'm not here to impress anyone.

Sera is mental...
Cassandra's romance was a whole lot better and you can understand what she says.
If you can get past Sera's whiny, teeny emo attitude, she's alright. She's a real challenge if you happen to be a Dalish elf, which is what I was when I decided to give her romance a try. She's okay, not the best because of her attitude.
Doesn't matter, it's all about personal taste. I play both male and female characters and I found the female romance options to be lacking. The only really attractive females in my opinion are Leliana, Morrigan, and Vivienne, and none of them are romanceable.Because that doesn't come off as shallow at all.
When I read the thread title, d'y'know what my first thought was? "Oh, here we go." Checked the OP, and needless to say, I was not surprised.

Beecaauusse... Sera is attractive? When did this happen?
Feel free to take from mine, mate.
No, thanks. I prefer Coke-a-Cola. :]
that prefers to play a straight male character most of the time, I am thoroughly disappointed with the viable romance options that I am given.
I'm female, BUT: I unterstand you. I think your right and I hope the straight males get more possibilitys, next time. ![]()
Something like Isabella or Leliana would be nice: Really pretty, very "female", but tough Lady. ![]()
Vivienne isn't a romance option and I don't think she's capable of love anyway, although it would have been a good idea for BW to make her a romance option so she can gain power for political purposes and she ends up screwing you anyway.. and by that, I mean in the butt and not in a good way.
Yeah, you keep twisting that stick.
And not in the good way.
As an asexual, heteromantic guy, I liked Cassandra and Josephine's romances, though my favorites so far are IB and Solas. Josephine's is incredibly Disney-like and Cassandra's has a lot of romantic stuff (I thought it was a bit weird seeing my badass 2-hander Reaver m!Adaar reciting poetry to Cassandra), but that doesn't mean they aren't necessarily good.
Sera, on the other hand, is one LI I'm not all that interested in romancing, simply because of her personality. Yes, I like how funny she is and how chaotic she acts, but the fact that she simply refuses to try and understand other people's views, often dismissing them as 'stupid' or 'weird', completely outweighs the parts of her personality I like. I'm willing to give her romance a shot, though, and see if that helps me see her in a less negative light, but I do kind of doubt it will do anything to change what I think about her.
I would like the chance to get a full romance with Harding in DA4, but I kind of doubt it'll happen since we can have a relationship of sorts with her in DA:I. Not saying it definitely won't happen, but I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't.
As for the romance-balancing itself, straight guys are generally pandered to in much of the gaming industry, especially when romances are concerned. DA:I is the one game (that I know of) that tries to be all-inclusive. The fact that people go and complain about there 'not being enough options for straight men' in DA:I is pretty pathetic.
I've opened the same topic without knowing there already was one. There's nothing bad in wanting more straight romances, I would've wanted harding.... sigh... Let us not fall in that clichè that wants every straight person a "gay hater". I even got gay friends... It's just that this game lacks options...that's it. Romances add some "pepper" to the game and offer insights on the chosen NPC you otherwise wouldn't have had. Someone noted the number of straight romances is the same in all games, but let's remember that Josephine is not one of your companions, for example, so you can't bring her along, thus no party banter. Plus, she's one of the most "softcore" romances, limited to kisses...

tbf, gay guys and les women also get less options, the former being restricted to Iron Bull and Dorian, and the latter being restricted to Sera and Josephine (assuming the play as their gender). It's the straight women who get more options than anyone else with Bull, Blackwall, Cullen, and Solas, Cullen being restricted to human and elven f!Inquisitors and Solas being solely available to elven f!Inquisitors.
I'll admit, the women do get better options (Solas' romance alone blows Cassandra and Josephine's romances away, imo), but considering how they basically got shafted (not in the good way) in terms of romances in ME, I'd say DA:I is a step in the right direction towards balancing things out.
I'll go slightly OT.... is there any news of what happens romance-wise in the next dlc?
The obvious solution is to finally cast away one's inhibitions and get with Dorian instead.

I think there's a thread talking about it somewhere....
As a straight man you don't have to play a straight male character.
Over the years I've enjoyed romancing Zevran, Cortez and Alenko with a gay character and found them to be thoroughly enjoyable.
Perfectly happy with my romance options, Cassandra is an amazing woman.
Anyone else get a little turned on every time she kicks down a wall?
I tend to agree with OP. Romaces were kind of lame for straight male gamers (it's a matter of preferences so don't whine about people having different tastes) but I still managed to have two nice stories.
Inquisition actually showed me that if I like a character well enough (Solas) I can totally play as whomever is required to romance said character and feel immersed. You should try OP it will broaden your horizons.
