I don't understand all the Firefly praise.  I tried watching the movie and only made it about fifteen minutes in before turning it off.  Haven't seen the show.

The movie was the wrong place to start.

I remember loving Firefly + Serenity when I first watched them.

I don't know why though, but the series just hasn't aged well for me. There's still some great moments/plot points in there, but a few cringe-worthy elements as well.

I'm going to quote myself from another thread here.

It is uncharted territory where other species already exist and we're out there in the thick of it for (at the time of posting this) unknown reasons.  To say that there are a few parallels between Andromeda and the Wild West wouldn't be all too far fetched.  Even the E3 trailer supports this, playing a song about cowboys and showing a shootout in a barren desert with plenty of tumbleweeds.

Based on this, I think most people, regardless of species, will be in it for themselves.  We're bound to see those who seek to bring order to the chaos and those who'd rather take advantage of it.  Even after all of the exploration and traveling, I think players are going to find themselves deciding which category they fit into.

Basically, to sum it all up, I don't believe the allusions to the Wild West/Cowboy theme are coincidental.  I think Andromeda is our "Wild Frontier".

I think their music in Dragon Age has been good with the exception of the end credits songs for the first two.

But the music in ME? The score is fine. Nothing to write home about but there's nothing wrong with it, either. But the music, the stuff that plays in the clubs, plays on the radio in your cabin, the actual music that exists in universe? I cannot stand that noise.

In the future, there will be dancing.  Apparently.

It makes sense though that primal beats and rhythms would be common across the species and so prevalent in clubs/bars - I personally did enjoy the music in Purgatory, but then I like techno.

I'm fairly sure that song wasen't chosen for the purpose of giving a cowboy or a wild frontier atmosphere but rather for a deeper purpose. The lyrics tell the tale of an old cowboy seeing ghost riders in the sky and getting warned that if he don't change his ways he will soon join them trying to catch the devils herd for all eternity. Ghost riders are the modern American take on a far older European pre-Christian folk lore known as the "wild hunt" (no CPR did not invent that for the Witcher 3), telling the tale of Oden chasing spectral beings in the sky - I'm guessing they (BW) more are working on something along those lines.

According to the myth, seeing the wild hunt was a prelude to a great disaster like a war or natural disaster etc.

And I'm fairly sure they used the song just to signify the final frontier, and people are just reading way too much into the lyrics.

Bioware isn't that deep.

The movie isn't all that great.  The show was decent.

As far as "cowboy music" in MEA, reminds me of the Terrans in Starcraft.
