The Mass Effect 3 story was fine up until the last 15 minutes or so.

but anything looks cheesy as hell when you portray it like that video does.

I really enjoyed the Mass Effect trilogy. All three games in fact.

However I am on the same page as you, but for entirely different reasons.

Whenever I want to gather a racially diverse team of humans and aliens to save the galaxy from the Reapers, I just play the trilogy.

In Mass Effect Andromeda I want something new.

I want to explore the galaxy rather than save it.

The only Mass Effect game that did "exploration" was Mass Effect 1. The worlds felt lifeless and bland. The Mako was awesome, however driving over mountains or around mountains only to enter a copy/paste building or do the same "press the right button in time minigame" over and over again was tedius.

I want to look forward to exploring new worlds.

I want new worlds to have character and personality.

I want to remember each planet rather than thing "meh, looks like all the other planets with a different colour pallet."

Anyway. I'd like to thank you for introducing me to Captain Power. If the show is anything like Mass Effect, then I want to watch that show! My favourite trilogy as a cheesy 1980's cartoon? Hell yes! Can I watch this on Netflix?

It's actually a pretty decent show and it had good cgi for the time, here are the full episodes on youtube.

Also it totally copied boba fetts armor/ pistol

I should point out that any game that makes us laugh, cry, feel a sense of accomplishment or loss has to be doing something right as a storyline. It means we are engaged in it.

The parody videos make us laugh because it becomes an in-joke at times, the deficencies of the game and the acting, the scenarios, they become endearing, kind of like how people embrace the plot holes of Lord of the Rings or mistakes in Star Wars all the time.

It is the mark of an engaging narrative.

I admit that when it comes to these games, I forgive quite a lot because I get very engaged in the characters and it's fun overall. Obviously better writing is a plus, but so long as it captures a lot of the fun and character engagement that I'm used to, I can handle a little goofiness here and there.

That is more of the point in the end. It's why people forgive movies they like, despite having issues with them in presentation or what not.

Two ways to fix ME3 ending, take your pick:

1 - Story ends after Anderson telling Shepard they did good and the Relays explode

or

2 - Replace Starbrat with Avina

#2 was the most missed opportunity in the entire series

so, you complain about ME3 and not ME2, which was basically a giant side quest? Weird

I had no idea what Captain Power was before this.  So it is true that you really learn something new every day.

That was hilarious. But yeah, I hope the story for ME:A isn't:  You are the most talented, most interesting, and most extraordinary person in the universe. And you are capable of amazing things. Because you are the Special.

The story for ME3 is basically a giant side quest too. It's like Dragon Age : Origins but somehow less sensible.  ;)

I actually loved every bit of the ME trilogy so I am actually disappointed that so much of the staff has been replaced. But /shrug ... I can accept the trilogy was it's own thing, and I shouldn't expect ME4... this is a new adventure we'll be going on, and I'm gearing up for that instead of revisiting nostalgia.

Perhaps you are right, but at least it is not a ''RECRUIT EVERYONE, DO EVERYONE'S PERSONAL QUEST, THEN GO ON SUICIDE MISSION'' style plot.

I think the issue is that ME2 just isn't important overall, and things like Arrival make it even worse in comparison. What IS given is pretty solid writing for the character quests themselves, but in the end, they don't even really matter. You can still WIN the suicide mission without doing their side missions, and there are only a couple of storyline missions. I like it for what it is, and ME2 COULD have been worth going through all of that from a plot perspective if ME3 hadn't decided to just throw most of the ME2 characters under the bus so to speak. Outside of Miranda, most of them are completely optional to run into -- or you wouldn't even recognize them if you did.
