So you could romance your desired LI regardless of sexual preference restrictions. I.e lock the romance in then change to preferred gender.

I...I hadn't thought so. I've never understood it to be a body swap, more of a telepathic merging.

 

Which, when I think about it, has the slight potential for creepiness itself.

Oops my bad, I reread it. As a Liaramancer, I understood that they merged consciousness so Liara got all of Shep's memories, thoughts etc in the melding.

I would like to say that I have no idea what the gender switch "power" and the body swap power have to do with one another. 

 

The body swap thing is creepy and pointless, so, no.

 

As far as the gender switching, I suppose that's the logical extreme of what some people already want; to be able to re-customize their character throughout the game. Requests for this kind of thing pop up all the time as far as hair styles go. You'll occasionally see requests for full facial recustomization, which could easily be justified via cosmetic surgery.

 

Sex change could work the same way, and I wouldn't be opposed to that option being included so long as it was treated as that; a sex change/gender reassignment procedure and not a magical shapeshifting power.
