I've been seeing gameplay and reviews from MGSV and quite frankly, the overall gameplay looks great and so does the graphics and the fact that it's open world and 1080p 60fps on consoles is impressive in itself. Now you might ask, what does this have to do with Mass Effect?

Well, we know that the combat in the Mass Effect series has been greatly influenced by Gears of War and each new game has shown this but looking at MGSV it looks like Mass Effect Andromeda's combat system has more in common with this combat than it does with Gears of War. It has large levels with vehicles and squad mates while taking into account stealth, action and customization.

I don't know how well MGSV actually plays but from what I've seen it looks good and I think it would work well for Mass Effect.

If it's like an MGS game ... expect 20 minute cutscenes.

LOL

MGSV has created some buzz with the character Quiet. Apparently, her design is disgusting, according to Halo dev David Ellis....he said "this feels lazy and exploitative.".

But, according to Kojima:

"What I'm really trying to do is create unique characters. One of those is, of course, Quiet. She's a really unique character. I wanted to add that sexiness to her," Kojima said. "It wasn't really supposed to be erotic, but sexy."

Maybe ME:A will also have a sexy alien to create buzz for the game.

You remind me why I love Kojima. He simply doesn't give a damn about others opinions. He does what he wants in his games. American developers are too much politicized by current trends in our society. Japanese people really don't care at all about what our westerner puritans (not in the religious sense) might think.

To OP MGS also proved that an AAA title can play well on console in 1080p with 60fps...no excuses!

Uhhhh unfortunately there's practically zero stealth in Mass Effect. Until that changes there's nothing to really compare between the two game series from a gameplay aspect.

As a fan of games such as deus ex I really wish there was stealth in ME. You would think with the infiltrator class there would be "stealthy" gameplay but there really isn't. I hope they implement a system like in deus ex: HR or wolfenstein:the new order where you there are multiple ways to complete objectives, like can choose to go in guns blazing or you you can choose to be stealthy and try to sneak around enemies or stealthily kill/incapacitate them.

I got some games to tradein, and then I'm picking up MGS5 today. Sad though, T-T It's the last canon Metal Gear, for obvious reasons.

 You would think.

Infiltrator is my favorite class, by far, but the lack of a viable option to combat other than "guns blazing" is something that has irked me for the better part of a decade. Tactical cloak is nice, but when all enemies are alerted as soon as you make your first kill, it completely defeats the purpose.

I, along with many others, have been asking for a stealth option to be implemented over the course of the last 3 years. We can only hope it was taken into consideration. Now, to be clear, I hardly expect anything on the level of MGSV stealth mechanics. But something more akin to Rise of the Tomb Raider would be very satisfying. Options are nice.

Something as simple as wolfenstein:NO would be nice. Enemies would only attack you when they visually see you or you fire a shot with an suppressed weapon, use an offensive power etc. Also a head-shot on an enemy that is unaware of your presence with a heavy pistol or sniper rifle should would be an insta-kill.

A suppressor would be an attachment to heavy pistols and sniper rifles that reduces damage but lets you fire undetected. Also having an "assasination" feature where you can insta-kill an enemy with your omni-blade if you sneak up undetected on them would be nice.

I mostly play infiltrator and soldier and having stealth be a feature in the next game would really be awesome. I think deus ex HR is a great example of how you can integrate stealth into a shooter/RPG hybird and the mass effect: andromeda developers would be wise to look at that game if they plan on implementing a stealth feature in their game.

Don't know much about MSG in general, and I don't think that games should avoid showing sexy characters.

That said, things should make sense. No modern (and sane) warrior, female or male, is going to fight in the battle-dress equivelant of a bikini -

much less under the burning sun of a desert.

On the other hand, a game that allows you to hide as a walking cardboard box, uses a very... unique form of in-game logic, so maybe that's to be expected.

There's a legitimate reason for going to battle in your undies?

At least if you wear pyjamas you can be equipped with a murder-proof duvet! (you hide under it and bad things can't happen)

I'm going to hazard you're not familiar with how much it costs to change feature locked contents in games of a certain size.

quiet

There are no legitimate reasons. If her power requires contact and exposed skin, then she should be naked, not in lingerie for maximum effect on the battlefield. The literal half ass approach taken is 100% fanwank material, also literally.

Who cares?

Truth be told, Phantom Pain does very little for me as a game, it feels like it's trying to do too much at once, which is a kiss of death in terms of game design. People argued Mass Effect did that after all...

I think incorporating stealth into the game is a neat idea, the question is how do you do that from a third person perspective and through squad-based play?

One way is to eliminate the squad from certain missions where you have to stealth it. That is a possibility, but it might not be practical in the game world; only in tight spaces.

I think its better if the stealth is not really involved, frankly.

Ghost Recon FS has a system where when you cloak your team-mates automatically cloak as well. You could have teammates with the same tactical claok power you have that automatically use it whenever you do and are programmed to never fire unless you're detected and/or fired upon. In ghost recon your squadmates are essentially invisible to the enemy until you, not them, are detected (by being spotted, firing an unsuppressed weapon, etc). This is so when the AI bugs out and runs out into the open it doesn't compromise you're stealth. Sure it's unrealistic but it keeps the "fire-team" dynamic and removes the potential for a frustrating moment like your AI squadmate randomly popping out of cover and getting your squad detected.

Just have the stay the eff here command work instead of only working until you move x feet away from them and they suddenly teleport to you. It would allow you to flank enemies. You 2 stay here, I'm getting into that sniper roost and will flank the enemies or cover you until you get to extraction point. You should be able to command a npc to do the same. Hey sneak there and cover us.

I think the "fireteam system" needs to be re-done as for the most part your squadmates just kind of follow you around while you do the most of the killing. I would prefer the squad size be increased to four (the standard size of a military fireteam) as it gives you the option to split the squad into 2 two-man teams which can attack an objective from different angles. For example playing as a vanguard you could have two sniper/assault rifle characters take the high ground and provide suppressing fire while you and and another shotgun-wielding squadmate attack the enemy head on at close range.

Just look at any tactical third-person shooter like ghost-recon or SOCOM navy seals to see how its done.

That's more tactical than what Bio is willing to do. Doing this, in my view, will slow down the combat system.  Game pacing is very important to Bio and the intro of a four-man Fireteam adds another level of complexity. This negatively impacts EA's "make it easier to learn"... game policy.

Mind, you, I like tactics as in DAO and DA2.  I also prefer that the SP AI handles your team and maximizes their skill and force levels... meaning all three memebers of the team contributes to the kick azz effort.

Frankly, I'd be surprised of the studio makes "any improvement" in the SP combat mechanics... as exploration is their apparent main focus... for whatever reason.

Well, sure.

She's our new and beautiful alien female. Their social mores or combat outfits reflect their alien culture. As such, sartorial choices are their own... why should we judge them to be inappropriate?  I mean, is there a reason why I should object to their clothing style?

And, since the studio is not shy about these two-way, same-way, cross-way romances, why on Earth would Bio object to a simple minimalistic sexy alien outfit? Didn't these alien female explain that cloth is super very expensive in their culture?... LOL

Yeah but bullets and lazors and shrapnel and rain and snow and stuff! :P

If I was going into battle I think I'd like to be wearing, oh, I dunno, an M1A1 Abrams battle tank or something.
