I'm a tad curious about my character, seeing as I imported him from the first Mass Effect.
As a Vanguard, I chose Champion as one of my evolved talents. I can't say I'm too impressed with it, and I'm hoping I can change that at some point.
My question is, if I can start a "New Game+" after I've completed Mass Effect 2, will I have to reassign my squad points again? Or, is there a way to reassign my points if they have already been set without having to complete an entire playthrough?
My other question is, is there any possible way to acquire bonus talents as I progress through the game? Having a select number of powers as opposed to variety of the original isn't so settling for me. My bonus talent through the first Mass Effect was Singularity, I'm hoping I can at least look forward to that or a power I can choose at some point in the Mass Effect 2 story.
New character + and bonus talents?

During the game you can:
a) remap your talent points by researching the "Retrain Powers" upgrade (I think that's the name)
get one bonus talent by researching the "Advanced Training" upgrade
They both cost eezo, so careful with that. Supply's limited.

Ditto on this, as well as how those bonus talents are handled in New Game+

Yes, only one bonus talent. Unfortunately, with NG+, using Advanced training will just swap out the bonus talent. You will get to reassign squad mate's skill points in the new game, but will have to wait until you can retrain your powers to respend your own.

Thanks for the clarification.

Very much appreciated as well, I'll keep an eye for that in NG+.

Also: The only bonus talents you can choose are the unique ones of each squad mate, like Warp Ammo or Fortification.

That's understandable. However, when do you gain the ability to unlock them?
I've heard people say you unlock them after you complete a game and start a completely new character (not using a NG+ character), and I've heard you being able to gain the bonus talents during the game.
Is it possible to unlock them on the first character you import from Mass Effect, or must you complete the game with your first character, then begin anew?

you can unlock them mid game through research as soon as you gain your first loyal companion. You can only pick the skills of loyal companions.

Characters need to be loyal for you to gain their abilities.

That's understandable.
Might I ask, what bonuses do you gain from using your first character as opposed to a new character in Mass Effect 2 once the game is complete?
I ask because I'd like to make the most of one character, and hoping not to start a completely new character for the bonuses.

you start at whatever level you finished as, instead of lvl 1? you get to keep your gear (or at least your weapons)

Wonderful, so there is no need to start a new character after the game is complete (other than playing different classes and aiming for different endings)? I can obtain every possible bonus for my first character?

What is the "best" bonus talent in your thoughts? I like barrier/fortification for the defense personally.

There isn't really one, it's more of an opportunity to fill a gap in the abilities of your squad layout.

Well, I was hoping Singularity would be one of the bonus talents. I have no idea what is accessible to the player.

Not really. There's an ***-ton of Eezo. You can purchase probably 3/4 of the Eezo-need upgrades with just the import bonus alone.
I've got all the upgrades and I'm at 20,000 eezo.
Shame I can't sell it.
And I haven't even scanned a tenth of the available planets.

One thing I did with my save after I beat the game was to do the research that cleared my points so I could reassign them and then I saved the game. So when I imported the ME2 character I could put the points in as I saw fit.
When you import you get the following:
50k of each resource
200k credits
You keep your weapons and armor
You can also change the extra skill from a list of all skills you unlocked from gaining loyalty.
You don't keep your paragon/renegade points or the other research.

So I guess this is the best place to ask this. Is there anyway to redistribute squad points to your mates? I hit level thirty, finished the game, and started a NG+, and I reassigned all the points to Miranda and Jacob. But I completely forgot about loyalty skills and now I don't have as many points to put into those skills as I would like.

Neural Shock is very useful in the Suicide Mission and the IFF mission, where there are loads of husks. Because of its very low recharge time it's very useful for disabling large groups of organic enemies (if you evolve to Neural Shockwave). If you have Mordin with you, and have him using it as well, un-armoured organic enemies can be taken care of very very easily, especially husks since one hit with a Neural Shock kills them, at least on Normal.cyvaris wrote...
